Am I missing something or is Ripsnort just looking for another thread to lay personal insults?

Your missing something. :)  Just his pattern, do a search for the word "propaganda" and user "Boroda" ;)

Miko, the great difference between you and your opponents is that you, like most of intelligent Soviet people, are somehow immune to propaganda.

They did a nice propaganda job with airlift, and showed how "evil" are that hordes of asian bolsheviks who's only desire was to be left alone.

You know nothing about my country, you know nothing about Communism, and you still make conclusions about it, based on 50+ years of propaganda that inherited all the dr. Goebbels's lies. Very smart.

But our media never afforded to spread bull**** like fiction stories about Soviet cosmonauts who flew before Gagarin and "died in space", like your propaganda did.

Party propaganda was all true when they spoke about a danger from American imperialism.

It's intersting that propaganda radios like Toad refused to discuss US policy in Latin America with me.

Beautiful example of propaganda brainwashing. Illiterate always deadly-drunk Russians wearing fur-hats with red stars, on their "shaggy mounts" and with their pet polar bears. You must have been learning in a very good and expensive university.

Later US used this newspeak concept many times to approve mass kills and plain agression. I have to admit that American propaganda is much more effective then Soviet.

With as much distaste for the U.S.A. thats present on the board, I wouldn't doubt if many of you agree with him.

Ok, I worried if you guys missed this great wisdom from our beloved Navy chief. ;)

The whole story is too funny to believe.

Here is what I found out from various sources:

Kuroyedov must be somehow supported from Kremlin. No other Navy commander sould survive catastrophes like Kursk, K-159 and the latest f#ckup with a launch failure from missile sub. He is one of the most criticized military bosses. So far he have always succeeded in blaming others for all the disasters.

The true reason for his angry statements were... now hold on please... fire extinguishers not tested in time! The cruiser wasn't in fact "recalled from active forces". Everything looks to go on as usual aboard.

Another fine detail: former Navy head, admiral Igor' Kasatonov, recently made some statements accusing Kuroyedov of "destroying Navy" and so on. Now - surprise: "Pyotr Velikiy"'s commander Vladimir Kasatonov is his nephew.

IMHO people like Kuroyedov must be retired as soonas possible, and maybe put under trial like Rozhestvenskiy and Nebogatov (admirals who surrendered to Japanese at Tsushima battle in 1905).

The story reflects the state of relations and "professionalism" in our Navy headquaters.

You can also compare this episode to the last Northern Fleet training in the 90s when CV "Fleet Admiral of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov" (former "Tbilisi") had to be towed back to Severomorsk. On the same training in February, that resulted in Kuroyedov's statements about "Pyotr Velikiy", "Kuznetsov" performed as a dummy ship with no combat tasks.

You see how Putin's declarations about supporting Russian military turn into nothing. Putin looks more and more like Gorbachov: talking too much and doing nothing.

Beard! BearD D D!!!

I wear a beard!

;)

Boroda was a callsign of Vadim Fadeyev, Pokryshkin's best friend and wingman.

"O" and "A" sound different in this case. The word "borodo" doesn't sound Russian at all.

Of course in american slang if your "beard" were your best friend he would be a little more than a "friend".

Quote
BEARD

Beard is slang for a woman's pubic area.
Beard is slang for a male escort posing as a boyfriend, lover or husband, often in the case of a lesbian's 'official' partner. Beard is Black-American slang for intellectual or far-out person.
