It's a video problem.  When was the last time you updated your drivers?  And you are positive you have DX9 installed?

Same problem here.  DirectX9.0b (4.09.0000.0902), Radeon7200 (4.14.0001.9122), Win98R2.  I updated a couple of months back, max, to the newest drivers I could find.

Wildcrd, try renaming your settings folder and then run it.  Also, you are still able to run AH1?

When you reinstalled drivers, did you remove the old drivers first?

Anybody else using a FX5200 with Beta 19?

If you have the bandwith  redownload directX and reinstall it.

I was unable to start beta 19 even having 9b  ,it was certainly  badly installed ,a re-install cleared all.

Don't ask me why the 1st install didn't worked ... I don't know.

You could try what Straffo did.  I'm at a loss.  It should be a problem with either dx or the video drivers.  Let me see if anybody else is having problems or not with that card.

Which 5200FX is it?  Make and model.  Are you running it at stock clocks?

Look in the DXDIAG and get the version number of the driver you are running.  The last 4 digits in the DXDIAG report is NVidia's version number.

Save the contents of DXDIAG to a file and look through it for drivers being loaded that are marked as inactive.  It is usually close to the bottom of the file.  The section is marked, "Inactive video drivers".

1st check if you have enought free space on your C: partition.
If not try to free some space.

if it don't work try with this installer , you will have to download it and then run the executable.

Well I'm sorry but I've no idea :(

I find your last message surprizing ,the directX install didn't start at all or did you had a message saying something like : this driver is unsigned ?

beta20 fixed the problem for me... nothing else done, just waited, upgraded and started up fine.  Massive improvement in frame-rates for me also over previous versions.  wtg!

Yes, I had the same reported error (and posted earlier in this thread) but when I let the Beta20 upgrade install it started up fine for me after that.  I had the exact same error message in Beta19 though and all I ever saw as the error dialog shown over my desktop.  The Beta20 upgrade ran FAR better and my frames-rates (on a marginal machine) at medium levels on the settings were dramatically improved. I even went to 1280x1024 for video and things were still fine from the cockpit at low alt with drones.  Haven't tried online yet with it though.
