Well everything else works fine don't see how a system restore would fix
-
ignore :p didn't read your system stats before I posted...

It's a video problem. When was the last time you updated your drivers? And you are positive you have DX9 installed?
-
yep iv'e had dx9b for some time and i updated drivers last week
current drivers 5.6.6.4
-
I have several games that require dx9b they are working fine.
Reinstalled latest drivers and Reinstalled dx9b
NO JOY. pyro should i try doing a complete reinstall of AH2? I'l await your response befor i do
-
Same problem here. DirectX9.0b (4.09.0000.0902), Radeon7200 (4.14.0001.9122), Win98R2. I updated a couple of months back, max, to the newest drivers I could find.

Wildcrd, try renaming your settings folder and then run it. Also, you are still able to run AH1?
-
AH1 runs like a champ. Ill try the renaming of the settings folder though
-
Pyro, renamed settings folder, no joy I get the same message.
AH1 running fine and also, AH2 Beta 18 ran fine...well for a beta
-
Uninstalled then reinstalled AH2 from fresh download..still no joy

When you reinstalled drivers, did you remove the old drivers first?
Anybody else using a FX5200 with Beta 19?

errr no Ill go do that now and see if it changes anything.
-
deleted all old drivers no change. i gotta go pick a car up from the shop when I get back you want me to call ya?
-
Pyro, I backtracked to beta 18 an was able to play offline if that helps
-
If you have the bandwith redownload directX and reinstall it.
I was unable to start beta 19 even having 9b ,it was certainly badly installed ,a re-install cleared all.
Don't ask me why the 1st install didn't worked ... I don't know.
-
You could try what Straffo did. I'm at a loss. It should be a problem with either dx or the video drivers. Let me see if anybody else is having problems or not with that card.
-
Which 5200FX is it? Make and model. Are you running it at stock clocks?
Look in the DXDIAG and get the version number of the driver you are running. The last 4 digits in the DXDIAG report is NVidia's version number.
Save the contents of DXDIAG to a file and look through it for drivers being loaded that are marked as inactive. It is usually close to the bottom of the file. The section is marked, "Inactive video drivers".
-
Pyro: will try what you suggested
Skuzzy: i sent all DXDIAG inf to your Email
-

1st check if you have enought free space on your C: partition.
If not try to free some space.
if it don't work try with this installer , you will have to download it and then run the executable.

-
still wont install says it hasnt passed windows logo testing
-
Well I'm sorry but I've no idea :(
I find your last message surprizing ,the directX install didn't start at all or did you had a message saying something like : this driver is unsigned ?
-
Willcard read this :
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822798
Does it correspond to your trouble ?
-
did everything except method 8 still cant put a newer version of dirextX 9b on since I already have it i suppose. several other games that require 9b work just fine so im baffeled and beta 20 wont work either
-
beta20 fixed the problem for me... nothing else done, just waited, upgraded and started up fine. Massive improvement in frame-rates for me also over previous versions. wtg!

-
so you had the same problem soda? I was hoping beta 20 would fix it for me but nope least Im not the only one with this problem
-
Yes, I had the same reported error (and posted earlier in this thread) but when I let the Beta20 upgrade install it started up fine for me after that. I had the exact same error message in Beta19 though and all I ever saw as the error dialog shown over my desktop. The Beta20 upgrade ran FAR better and my frames-rates (on a marginal machine) at medium levels on the settings were dramatically improved. I even went to 1280x1024 for video and things were still fine from the cockpit at low alt with drones. Haven't tried online yet with it though.
