I watched this last night and have to say it was one of the worst WW2 movies ever. I understand it is a dark comedy but it was just stupid.
The only good parts I can think of.
Paula Prentiss is hot.... (yes I know she is really old now, but she was hot then)
The B-25s were cool.
Other then that is was just one long suckfest.

Just remember that some people like chocolate and some like vanilla. I consider it to be one of the best war movies ever made.

book was really good though, you should read it. most movies make big messes out of good books :p

I am willing to give the book a try.
I have to question the taste of anyone who thought the movie was anything but the crap it clearly was.

Much easier than questioning your own since ... well ... you have to live with yours. You don't like the movie and you expressed your opinion. Very well. Others have expressed a differing opinion and you have an opinion about that as well. There comes a point where one should consider respecting someone else's opinion, even when they don't agree. :D :aok

I am sorry, I thought you had read the book. It would make very little to no sense to anyone that had not. Trust me, read the book, then watch it again.

It should have never been turned into a movie...

You don't watch or read Catch 22 for the war stuff. You watch or read it because it's funny. It's funny because its true. Anyone who's been caught in a "danged if ya do, danged if ya don't" situation can relate to it.
A B25 bombardier wants to get out of the military so he won't be killed so he tries to convince everyone around him he's crazy so he'll be sent home(Yosarian). However...everyone around him is crazy.
There is a pilot in the squadron who's crashed five bombers and he's certified crazy. However...he floats away to Sweden in a little yellow rubber life raft and is safely out of the war in a neutral country(Orr)....he was certified crazy and ends up the smartest one of the bunch! The ultimate Catch 22!
Absolutely fantastic story!!
I think the movie is easier to digest. The book is a bit confusing jumping back and forth in and out of Yosarians mind.

Err, the catch 22 was that to get out of Flying, you had to be certified crazy. However, anyone who wanted to get out of flying those things couldn't have been crazy.

My old squadron in WB contracted to destroy our own base, and did so.

I saw Catch-22 when it originally aired in theaters. I thought it was a marvelous commentary on war.
I saw it last year on cable.... my god! That movie sucks!~
