I have WinXP pro installed on my HD, and couldn't get AH,AHII or the TE to work for sometime now. I clicked the programs and set them for Win95,98, milli compatability mode and now they all work. (scanned for viruses and found none, updated Dat files)
I have another HD i want to format and put Win98 In so I can use my old analog stuff. I formated the drive Installed win98 and when the window comes up saying " windows will now run for the first time" POOF my computer reboots , over and over and over. Even tried safe mode with same results.
Could a virus get into your MoBo Bios?
I reset the Bios to default my the jumper on the MoBo, and have the same rebooting results. So I tried A different Win98 SE CD. same results.
I slaved the HD with the WinXP HD and the slave HD reads fine, scandisked fine, reads the proper HD volume. Reads and writes fine to the drive slaved.
Any advice?

I think when you dual boot Win98 and XP, Win98 has to be the C drive and master while WinXP is the slave drive D with win98 being installed first
what happens if you set the ide controler to auto detect, pin the win98 drive as a single master C drive and leave the winxp drive out?

Nuttz, I cannot figure out how you got your machine in a state that any of our software would only run in compatilibilty mode.
We do not even have a Windows 98 machine in the office anymore.
Did you load the INF files for the motherboard?

NUTTZ,
Because I work with different OS I use a hard drive selector called a "Trio Hard Drive Selector".
I got it from tigerdirect.com
It installs in one of your PC bays and allows you to have separate OSs on separate Hard drives without messing with Multiple boot programs.
