Title: The new Batmobile
Post by: LePaul on March 31, 2004, 10:52:35 AM
Kinda looks like a John-Deere variant.

Wonder if the new Batman costume has a mullet?

He was "Jim" in "Empire of The Sun"?  Wow.  I like this movie already.

edit: Ken Watanabe is one of the bad guys.  Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman ... even Katie Holmes has a respectable acting resume'.  This time around it looks like the producers are breaking out all the stops.  They're bring all the heavy hitters up to bat.  I might actually have to make an effort to see this "Batman" film after skipping George Clooney's mistake.

Actually, I read on a surf forum that there were plans at one time to do a movie about  King Kamehameha of Hawaii (http://library.thinkquest.org/J0111103/bigisland/kamehameha.html) and Rock was going to be cast in the title role.  Now THAT is something I'd spend $6 to go see. Hawaiian warriors didn't mess around.  That plus they surfed on coconut-oil soaked planks the size of a banquet table, so you know those guys were hard-core.  I think its a role Rock was born to play.

That would be good casting, gofaster.  I hope it proceeds at some point. Hawaiian history is some interesing stuff.

I hope the new Batman movie is a good as the first, and not ****ty like the last.

I actualy liked the Rundown and think the Rock is OK lol.

I just do not think he is "batman"

Never been a huge batman fan though. Clooney was the WORST!

Just wanted to mention that the soundtrack to "Batman Forever" is one of the best compilation CDs I own.  I wouldn't have it except that it was given to me by a German friend as a parting gift before he went back overseas.  Let me tell ya, that's a pretty cool CD.

"Sneakin' round the side not a problem? That's no problem. Mistah Riddlahhh...."

edit: you know, I think "Batman Forever" is the film where the Batman series might have "jumped the shark".  Having two bad guys really didn't work too well.  If it had been only Jim Carey, it would've played much better.  The Riddler is too complex a character to share time with Two-Face.  I respect Tommy Lee Jones as an actor, but he really didn't do much here.  Carey, whom I don't particularly care for, did a much better job with his character.  What made the previous "Batman Returns" tolerable was the good-bad-good-bad flipflop character of Catwoman who sort of filled the seam between Batman and Penguin.  And she gave it a good jolt of sensuality that Nicole Kidman (whom I respect as an actress) didn't really have a chance to bring to the "Batman Forever" film.  Hopefully the makers realize the error of their ways and get back to what worked in the first two films: adult drama set in a make-believe world.

Afternoon matinee.  We see the 4 o'clock movie then go eat at Maggiano's on our way out. Their shimp and pasta is excellent.

Speaking of casting, I think it was a mortal sin to make another Punisher movie and not cast Henry Rollins in the title role.

They made a Punisher film?  Has it been released? Was/Is it any good?  And who is Henry Rollins?

I thought Keaton was the best one. After that, the movies were basically about a villian (or villians) and "the Suit". It did matter overmuch who was actually in the suit.

I think what made Keaton such a great casting choice was the fact that nobody in their right mind would think for a second that he was actually capable of being a superhero.  I mean, that was Mr. Mom out there being Bruce Wayne.  Sort of the same thing with Toby Maguire as Peter Parker.  He was perfect as the mild-mannered normal guy.   And that made the character conflict much better.

Keaton would be the ultimate Bruce Wayne.  Patrick Warburton would be the ultimate Batman.

The Atmosphere Tim Burton gave the Batman films is can't be replaced either, I do agree the best Batman was Michael Keaton, too bad WB shrecked his contract up , thus ejecting Burton too :-(

Amen to that. I think Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton were a perfect matchup in the first Batman movie.

When i went to the Sandiago comic con there was a big tent with the preview, it looked lame, but then agian the only succesfull comic to movie was Tim Burtons Batman. Tim burton needs to make another one tho i think he did all he could do in the 2 he made, which were basicly based on Frank Millers Dark Knight returns Graphic novel. If you havent seen frank millers work check out his Sin City series My favorites: Booze Bullets and broads, a dame to kill for, that yellow bastard, and family values.

Tim Burton actually felt he had done a slap together job with the first one since he had such an impossible dead line, tho the first one's my favorite.

I hear there will be a Catwoman movie staring Halle Berry!

He was one of the lead singers for the LA punk band Black Flag.  Then he went solo, started doing peotry readings, and took a few acting and voice-over jobs.   For any role that calls for a bad-ass, deep voiced, crew cut, no-neck, tatooed guy, they call him.

Well, from a Batman geek's perspective, this is starting to shape up into a decent movie that will do justice to Batman (much like Spiderman and X-Men have done).  The best adaptation of the comic books was the cartoon that was on WB for awhile (well, aside from the fact that the Joker wasn't a homicidal maniac - but it is a cartoon afterall).

The helmet makes her head look oblong.  Michelle P's had better proportions.

I don't like the open-toe'd sandals, either.  The open toes make me want to shout out "Stinky Feet!" or "Toe Jam!".

Yeah, michelle pfeifer was so much better.

But don't the front tires look like they'd pop if someone sneezed?

This looks like crapy porn bondage, im sure this is just a preliminary design. Its good to see a new spin on catwoman atleast, tho they should have just developed more on the design that michelle pfeifer wore in the secon batman movie. More of a gothic look.  Its all about the vinyl! I think Halle Berry will play the part just fine. The mask isnt too bad, tho the rest should go back to the drawing table.

Oh btw Julie Newmar was the best Catwoman!   I met her at a comic convention in portland oregon, not so sexy anymore tho, I got to see Halle Berry and angelina jolie In in the Sandiago comic con, tho the line to get autographs and marvel at them up close was way way to long.

Yeah they made one awhile back, Dolph Lungren (spelling?)  was the lead and Dolf (who I respect as an actor) sucked it up.  BUt yeah Henry Rollins is a thick necked punker who's mad at the world and doesn't mind telling everybody he meets.  But if you get a chance to catch some of his spoken word shows he's HILARIOUS.  Saw him a couple weeks ago and I was laughing my bellybutton off for the 2.5 hours he was up there.
