Article 14: "The individual has the right to security, education, health care, and social security."

Sweet!  It's a good thing we won the Cold War so that we can bring socialism to our satellite states without the Russians interfering!

I see... so "liberal" means banning things..

like free speech (political correctness)  and the right to defend yourself (gun control).

the writer of that article was himself very liberal and.... wrong..   He claimed that our constitution allowed for gun control but that is not correct... Our constitution says that our right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

Maybe in some perverted version of liberalism.

The most important liberal achievement, sepearation of church and state, is not mentioned in that article.

actually... so far as the firearms thing... theirs is worse than a ban.

What it amounts to is a "licence" issued by the government.   It could mean anything from being able to own an RPG by having someone fill out a form at the grocery store to not issueing a "licence" to anyone who couldn't afford say a $5,000  a year 'fee'.

How that would play out would depend on who was in power that year.   who lobbied the best.   You need strong language like either it is a right for all or you need to say that the government can remove your right to defend yourself.

A government issued licence is a licence for corruption.  A way to arm one sector of the population and leave another helpless.

well... I am offended by sixpence directing me to such a flaming liberal site no matter what.    Just going to that site makes me feel less like I need a shower...  I can't imagine that there is much truth to anything posted on that site.

Maybe this is the kind of thing that Iraqis want in their constitution so who are we to tell them what to do?

"You can have any constitution you want so long as we like it."?

I'm thinking Bremner had to allow them some of the things they wanted. After all they didn't get their Islamic constitution.

Homicide rates have fallen sharply in states that liberally allow concealed handgun permits. How can any freedom and life loving person not see this as a benefit?

Who said it wasn't a benefit. I just said the constitution doesn't guarantee it.

We'll just have to differ in our interpretation then. Perhaps we need an amendment that guarantees every law abiding citizen the right to bear a concealed weapon?
