Nassiriya yesterday: Bersaglieri of 11th Regiment, belonging to the "Ariete" (Ram) Armoured Brigade, togheter with elements of special forces, have been fighting for 5 hours trying to recapture three bridges on the river Eufrate.
After the fight and two bridges recaptured, the result is: 15 schiites dead (2 of them were children), 40+ wounded, and 11 Bersaglieri wounded. One side of the third bridge is still in Schiites hands becouse women and children are still used as human shields.
This is even more disgusting than a real war :(

This is a real war.
-
a good half century ago terrorists were referred to as partisans.
Partisans from a few countries are renowned for being heros.
-
They are still referred to as partisans, at least in the Finnish media.
-
Rome, march 23rd, 1944: italian "partisans" killed 33 german soldiers of a second line regiment with a bomb. After that 335 italian civilians were shot in the back by germans in reprisal.
You can easily define german as bloody butchers, however it is still not clear if those guys were partisans, terrorists or simply bloody idiots. Well, I have my idea ....
BTW, allied troops entered Rome on the 4th of June, 1944 ......
-
They are partisans by definition. They see the Coalition as an unlawful occupying force.
"1) A fervent, sometimes militant supporter or proponent of a party, cause, faction, person, or idea.
2) A member of an organized body of fighters who attack or harass an enemy, especially within occupied territory; a guerrilla. "
Sounds like a good description.

It's a counter-insurgency, Hortlund. The hot war ended a year ago. Bush said so.
-
Yup, they are partisans. From their standpoint they are defending their country.
-
If this krap will turn into a war against a nation or against a big part of it, then no euro government will hold.
Everyone here is trying to convince the public opinion that we are fighting against a few isolated terrorists .... veeery difficult task ....

-
Only a drooling idiot would call the body mutilators in Falujah "partisans".
-

Over half a century ago, the partisans did sometimes do even more horrible things than what happened in Falujah.

People called "partisans" in Finnish media definelty are not. They were regular army units wearing Soviet uniforms.
Partisans, if we will follow Dowding's description, are outlaws. Anyway, for legal definitions and laws - better turn to the international conventions.
