There is probely many, but what Online flight sim have you played that you think is your top 4 out there if you choose from this list:
* Your top WWII flight sim, and why?
* Your top Jet flight sim, and why?
* Your top Helicopter sim, and why?
* Your favorit TOP flight sim choice ;)d(do not have to be on the above list), and why?

Does "online" include games with multiplayer support?
If so, I've played FA1 through FA2.5, AH, and very briefly WB3. Also EAW MP mode and IL2~AEP MP mode.
I never liked jets as my love for aircraft stays strictly with WW2 era planes.. so I haven't played much jet sims.. and the last helicopter sim I've played was "Gunship" for DOS more than 10 years ago.
..
The best in the entire category of "WW2-era air combat simulation" genre, I'd have to say, is FB/AEP.
The best as a strict MMOG, is no doubt AH.

AH
targetware
IL2
Nada

I think there's only been 4 online flight sim games.
Air Warrior
Warbirds
Fighter Ace
Aces High
Now, my favorite flight sims out of all the ones I've tried are:
WW1 - Red Baron
WW2 - Aces High
Korea - Chuck Yeager's Air Combat
Vietnam - Chuck Yeager's Air Combat
Modern Jets - USNF/Jane's Fighters Anthology
-
Aces High
Not much into jets, havn't really flown them since the old A10 Cuba over Kali days.
Comanche vs Werewolf was good.
Was disappointed in Comanche 4.
You left out WWI Sims.
Flying Circus was great back when.
Target Flanders is coming along nicely considering its still in beta.

I Thought abouts it, and my mind went to red baron;). But I want just to focus on the 4 I have added;)
-
Aces High
Targetware: Korea
Targetware: Rabul
Combat Flight Sim 2
Combat Flight Sim 3
:D

How is targetware coming along...seems like it's picking up steam from the # of times its mentioned...need to revisit it again I guess.
-
I loved red baron. really really loved it. Wish someone would create a game with the same playability as that, ability to request squadron transfer, paint your aircraft when you are an ace, diversity of missions (did it also have ace challenging as well? where other aces challenged you to a duel or was that a different game?)
I also loved the original B17 on my Amiga 500+.
So my 4 fav. sims (no catagory) would probably be this:-
1. Aces High
2. Red Baron
3. B17 Flying fortress
4. Flying Corps Gold
-
Target Rabaul has improved and is very playable.
I really suggest that you should try it out...
no LA7's or spits
IKON

I'm planning on downloading it over the weekend...

Blue Max on my Amiga was great for the times!

AH........ thats the only online flight sim ive played.
other than that, its FS2004 (hence the reason i like flying bombers ;)) or IL2, but ive yet to find a place online that isnt full of idiots! http://www.tacticalgamer.com is muture, but there isnt enough IL2 players :(
EAW was the last WWII based flight sim i played and i played that forever it seemed :D
-
Aces High.
Aces over Europe
Aces of the pacific
Janes WW2 Fughters.
-
Make sure & give Targetware a bash guys. For many, it won't replace AH but if you like it challenging & enjoy a learning curve, you will be right at home.
After some 2 years involved to date, I STILL enjoy just taking my Beaufighter up from Wau airfield to do circuits & improve my general flying :)
Its a community effort over there & the level of involvement by enthusiasts of 2D, 3D, research & dev has been increasing impressively. Features coming down the pipe are likely to blow you away ;)
Personally, all online sims have aspects I like but as a realism junky, theres only one online air combat sim for me :)
Cheers all.

Are there any good, modern combat helicopter flight sims out there?
I miss gunship2000, and apache.

I tryed out, but sorry to say that this was not a WWII flight sim that I gott a good feeling for. Maybee I just did not test it long enough;).

Downloaded it last night (targetware), certainly gives you a feel for just how fast and far AH has come...especially if you look at AH2 beta vs targetware....that being said its a work in progress and well worth supporting. You dont have an in sim function to "map" joystick like you do in AH so I'm going to have to fight thru the setup this weekend....will it replace AH....hardly (at least for now)....but it's worth supporting the effort by playing.

the best is enemy engaged comanche vs hokum
its not that old and it is the best to bad not many people heard of it hard to understand why this game never went huge
i tend to think that it was overshadowed by those other helo games
then trying out comanche 4 by novloc i unstalled comanche 4 30 mins after i installed it because i was fed up it was a kids game cant crash no way anyone can call that a sim
-
best one was the first one
BattleHawks 1942 - then I flipped over SWOTL when I upgraded to a 486DX66 to push it!
FA was first online experience
now - AH and FB/AEP are tops

Another Amiga one: F/A-18 Interceptor. That's the one where you'd fly around San Francisco doing stuff.
