When attempting 4 point roll at 180 knots in an RV. And on the first knife edge after the 90 deg roll if you stomp rudder very quickly . Your head meets the canopy realy hard.

Please dont abuse our favorite software developer's skull...

So how tall were you before the incident, and after?
Which of the RV's are aerobatic? I know the 8...what about the 9? Couple guys here are putting the finishing touches on their 9 and want to take me up. Just wondering how "fun" it could be
-
LOL did you hurt the canopy:D
-
RV9 & 10 are not.
No didn't hurt, but scared crap out of me. One of those things you say, lets not do that again.

Where are the pictures?:p
Just kidding!

A 4-point roll at 180 KIAS?? You gotta be kidding me!!
In the Pitts or the Z-50, maneouvering speed is around 250 kph and those are sturdy birds. Doing sharp movements such as those required in a 4-point roll in a RV8 is insane (lots of stress on the airframe).
Please tell me those were kph...

KIAS = Knots Indicated Air Speed
Much faster than kph.

My point exactly SaburoS

A helmet would only have cracked the canopy. :p
Never wear a baseball cap with a button at the top when doing acro either or when you have little head room between you and the canopy top...those buttons hurt like a muther...and will also crack the canopy. :aok

what kind of plane are you bumping your "productive part" around in hitech? got pics?

Doh! Maybe I should of actually read your post!!! :)

Same thing happened to me in a Pitts only I was wearing a helmet and didn't feel it. But I wrenched my shoulder and was in pain for weeks afterward. :( I wasn't flying it at that point so was taken by surprise. Took him by surprise though, when I fell out of a roll into a spin.
Aerobatics is like being beaten up sometimes, sore heads and pulled muscles. :lol
Sadly only flying boring old 172's and 150's lately. sigh!!!!
PERK THE RV8!!
-
Ahem, HT? Might I suggest you get yourself a plane with a 5 point harness, ejection seat, and parachute? Perhaps something with a 720º/second roll rate? (http://www.afrc.af.mil/hq/pa/gallery/15july02/071502-05highres.htm) We don't need you bumping your nugget off the canopy too many times.
-
Were you using IR track at the time?
Gosh...I feel like I'm talking to God!

Never done a 4-Point roll, but got my Dad's Winnebago past VNE once. ;)

Did a 4 point roll in an '85 S-10 one time. Into the marsh off a causeway luckily...
That hurt too:eek:

fyi hitech... flying in the real world is not like in MA... when you go beyond the map there is still more land to explore but some of that land may be off limits to civilian planes.
