Post by: Bax on October 01, 1999, 07:39:00 AM: There's really nothing wrong with naming the countries after chess pieces, but I can think of some more,<ahem>, entertaining names. Take condoms, for instance:

The Sheiks
The Trojans
The....The....

Shoot, I can't think of a third brand name. I don't use the things anyway, seeing as how I don't like to have ANYTHING spoil my nakedness. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I think the term Aces High - with the Aces of Spades as part of the logo - is a bit confusing when it get mixed with the chess piece terminology.

I say keep the Ace of Spades and drop the Chess terms.

How about just a two country setup? Call it anything... Blue vs. Grey, East vs. West... whatever.

The beauty of three sided main arenas is that most of the time at least 66 percent of the players will have non capped fields to fly from. No matter how many one side may sport, it is very unusual to capture two countries at once. It's a time tested configuration that works. However, two sided historical arenas for scenarios or warnights are always fun. They just take a few rules to assure fair play that main arenas don't use. Shouldn't be very long before a talented map maker like Oger will have one for us to use.

Post by: bfd on October 07, 1999, 09:44:00 AM: Someone mentioned card suits in one of the long lists above. Considering the name “Aces High”, card suits would be a nice play off of the title. You have Aces in all of the suits and no one suit has different connotation or functionality than any other. Color is generally irrelevant (unless your are playing something like solitaire) so you could assign any color. Number of countries? Pick any 2, 3 or 4.
