Morpheus is talking about a plane worthy of being perked, those planes you mentioned are just kiddy seal pup planes. Those planes hardly take any effort to destroy.
Either perk or nerf the P-38, give the other single engine dweebs a chance.

Which brings me to my next point guys, "Don't Smoke Crack"
Thank You :p

I would like to see it too !!
I agree ... the P-38 is nothing but a flying school bus !!!
-
Should be perked.
It's overloaded ordnance capabilities totally destroys the need for other dedicated jabo/ground attack planes. Mossies, 110s, IL-2s, A-20s and etc etc.
..
Ofcourse, with that logic P-38s not the only plane should be perked.

Kweassa i hope you not serious :( :p bah. 38 might as well perked. its icon is like one already. just like other perked planes, if 38 is in area, seems everyone is on it. from my expierence of course. ord load is nice tho. ;)

Yes I have the film. Was some sweet missions I was running for ****s and giggles. Mission ended up to me 36 P38's in all. Sad part is 1 mission earlier I launched us all from hangars and everyone augered. Thats why I dont usually run them . Ill post the film once my comp is up and running.
Now for the slaps at hand. How dare you say perk the P38. It's the biggest peice of crap I have ever laid my eyes upon. Whoever can get that bird to fly right deserves to fly it at "no cost" and unlimited flyability.
The P38 is in a way "perked" if you will. It takes a good while to get fairly decent in the plane and thats it's downfall and I like it that way, so there! I will not have a whiny thread put a damper on the bird I fly most often in the MA. You damn bafoon Morpheus
Slapshot it's good to see you have graduated from the spit (although lethal as hell in it) to the P38. Now you MUST give me a holler on chan 1 and I'd like to wing with you, anytime:D

I would like to think that I have broadened my horizons (:D) rather than graduated.
Still, the Spit V and Seafire don't gather much dust, while I try to figure this monster out. Nothing like jumping in the Spitty and twistin' and turnin' all over the place.
Now if we could launch the 38 from a CV .... :aok
-

And a short one at that.
-
I think the P-38, P-51D, F4U-1D Corsair, Me-110, and Typhoon should all be perked when bombs are shackled, but free otherwise.

Nah ... I can't agree with that. When "shackled" with bombs, these planes are nothing but easy floundering slow fat targets.

You know Im kiddin hehe. Im just given ya grief:p Bah I just fly P38's to a CV battle and hotload them. Encredably easy to land them on CV, A20's are sweet too hehe.

Bahh, Slap is Spit V is easy pickings. Just make sure he does not see you before you shoot and then run as fast as you can.

I ran into a knight 38 last night. He was vulching and bouncing rollers at a rook base, along w/ a friend of his or 3. I myself had managed to evade the vulchers and get airborne.
Knight 38 tried to rope my single engine plane. Knight 38 exploded in a shower of 38 confetti... beautiful. :)

Ummm...actually neither my squaddie or I were vulching and there were 5 Rookies up over that field at staggered alts. I admit while roping the La7, I didn't see you dive in on the fight until I reversed over the top. Didn't matter though, I still managed to bag 7 Rookies.

Good job on the 7 rooks. I didn't dive into any fight. I had upped a spitV from the base and climbed your rope. I popped you right as you reversed. Staggered alts...maybe up to 1.5k, but you had more E than all of them. :)
Ack was down and both Hylandr and Kotzebui were vulching. Maybe you didn't get any on the ground., but you pounced plenty of low/slow bogs that had just upped. Dunno why you are trying to pervert the scenario so blatantly, considering I had left all names out of it.

While I am at it. Perk Steve too. :D

Truthfully, never saw those other two Knights over the field but most of my attention was focusing on those my squad mate would train for me to pick.

Nope, dead serious.
In my way of thinking, a lot of the problems which we perceive in the MA is caused by the disparity between reality and MA gameplay. Ofcourse, an effort to completely change the MA into a historic ground would be futile, not to mention not very wise. But some aspects could considerably enhance the game experience and get rid of the perpetual complaints.
One of them often mentioned - the suicidal porker mentality.
A lone P-38L can carry an uncommon ordnance load of 2x 1000lbs load + 10 x HVARs rated at 250lbs worth of destructive power. That's 4500lbs load of ordnance - more than needs to destroy a single fighter hangar. Four P-38Ls can shut down a small and medium field by themselves.
A single P-47D-30 carries a 2x1000lbs load, 1x500lb load and extra 10xHVARs - 5000lbs worth of ordnance.
Considering a single B-17 in AH carries 6000lbs and medium bombers besides those of the US typically carry a lot less than that, it's frankly a balance-buster in regards to plane types.
..
Ofcourse, most pilots are largely mediocre and it is unlikely they can hit the target with extreme excellence. But since even a doofus would usually bring down a FH if he suicides it twice..
In more understandable words, it means that the risk-to-result factor is highly in favor of the suicidal mentality. The late war monsters, usually US planes, are totally free to access with no outer limitations.
They carry so much ordnance that considering the outcome of the expected attack, a suicidal attempt has a high chance of critically damaging the enemies ability to fight.
In other words, you don't necessarily need to practice and enhance one's skill to make it count for your country. All you need is blind devotion and determination - couple that insane passion with a slight local numbers advantage, and you can achieve local air superiority, even as far as a field capture, with consecutive suicidal attacks. A few people can just slip through and auger themselves into the field and they will at least take a fuel tank with them. Four of these sort of people in the area and a small field is down to 25% fuel or no FH.
What makes it worse, is that the late war planes are optimized fighter-bombers, usually with incredible dive capability and blinding speed. Even a La-7 sometimes has trouble intercepting a suicidal Typh or a P-51D WEPing in a full throttle dive to the field.
Usually only after the the bomb and ordnance is dropped and the enemy pulls out,(which is obviously too late) they can catch up. Since AH doesn't model the realistic speed limits to planes carrying ordnance, not to mention the flight conditions and procedures such as no -G flying during a bomb run, any fool with a heavy bomb load and a bit of alt will pass through the defenses and destroy something(and then, get shot down immediately).
..
All of the factors above contribute to one thing: the result of havoc and grief one suicidal plane can cause, greatly outweighs the consequences of death - thus, people will choose to kamikaze something if they need to. It's only one death to the suicidal people - but through a few such deaths they can render the whole enemy presence in the area unable to fight.
Thus, I have made the conclusion that reverting the MA time-line to sometime resembling mid-late '43, is a viable alternative to seek out.
..
More details in the NPA thread linked in my sig.

Hylandr died over the base while you were whacking a couple of guys over the town. Kotz was a nik right on the deck at the base. He was ignoring airborne fighters, preferring instead to vulch.

How do you think all those P-38 kill landed messages come up so often? :D

Truthfully, if they aren't squad mates I really don't pay much attention to other Knights unless I know them well.

Perking bombs for the 38 would do the trick.
More A2A, I hate to see suicide tools auger their Lightning next to a vh, my heart bleeds everytime i see this. Kick those fools out of the cockpit :D

i think most of the suicide 38 guys forget about compression. if its not that, they just wasted a good plane. :D
