Why bother surrendering AND electing Kerry.
Save a step.
Elect Kerry and he'll surrender for you.
-
And it wasn't "downed". According to coalition sources, it merely made an "emergency landing due to groundfire".
Heck, take a look at the photo and judge for yourself:

LMFAO if an emergency landing after being hit by ground fire isn't downed I don't know what is. Love the spin they put out. Bit like "of the 700 dead 95% were militia". You'd have to be blind to believe a statement like that.

Yes.
When the government tells us that an aircraft was forced down its spin.
By contrast, those claims that we're all doomed because an aircraft was shot down during a war are spin free.

I believe the article stated the aircraft as destroyed by american forces to avoid it being looted.

SPIN!! SPIN!! SPIN!!
-
The first report of the incident that i saw before it come out on cnn was that a reporter from AP had seen a chopper go down in flames between falluja and bagdad. He thought it was an apache.
-
If you were a little less eager to report doom and gloom you might be able to wait and get the facts.

Anyone know what kind of manpad it was? Or if only one missile was involved or two or more?
-
No idea Capt. Pork, I've asked the same question myself.
Hortlund....how would you know?
-
?
-
You sick bastards are all missing the very important underlying oppressive tone of this whole messed up story. They say it was brought down by a "manpad" and we all know how offensive that term is to women, it should properly be termed as a "personpad" so as not to offend our female boardmembers. Now, has anyone assembled a group of grief counselors to meet with the stricken crewmembers so they can start to put back together the pieces of their shattered lives? And I do believe a time-out is in order for the insurgents, of course, as long as it is administered in a positive way so that they don't lose self-esteem and their sense of self-worth.
My goodness, the middle east needs a hug today.

FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - A U.S. military helicopter was hit by ground fire Tuesday and forced to land, and three crew members were wounded. One Marine in a rescue squad was killed by insurgents who attacked with mortars, small arms and rocket-propelled grenades, the military said.
Insurgents said they downed the craft with a rocket-propelled grenade.
Lt. Col. Brennan Byrne, the Marine commander in the area, said the H-53 Sikorsky helicopter went down before dawn.
"This morning a helicopter made an emergency landing due to ground fire. The attack resulted in three wounded and a quick reaction force secured the crew and the helicopter was later destroyed to prevent it from falling into enemy hands," said Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, deputy chief of U.S. military operations in Iraq.
The team that extracted the Marine crew came under mortar fire and was ambushed as it pulled back by gunmen using small weapons and rocket-propelled grenades.
An Associated Press reporter later saw the craft burning in a field 12 miles east of Fallujah. Photos of the wreckage showed no sign of bodies. About a dozen masked gunmen were near the wreckage, with at least one carrying an RPG launcher.
"The helicopter was passing overhead, and we happened to be hiding here. We fired an RPG at it and it fell," one of the gunmen said.
While Fallujah has been relatively calm for four days, the area between the besieged city and Baghdad has seen heavy clashes between gunmen and U.S. forces. Insurgents shot down an Apache on Sunday in nearby Abu Ghraib, killing its two crew members.
Before Tuesday's helicopter crash, a U.S. convoy was attacked near the same site, and two Humvees and a truck were burning, said witnesses, who also reported U.S. casualties.

TY for the post. If they are with I MEF then that could be a number a squadrons. I know that the squadron here took their 53's to Iraq and their 46's to Afganistan. I doubt I know anyone on the helo but you still feel it when the guys are stationed at the same base (if that's the case) hell my wife could be best friends with his wife or somthing like that.
