Title: Maps that survived Y2K :)
Post by: glars on December 31, 1999, 12:09:00 PM
So I thought it was about time I made them available for anyone who wants them.

They're in Acrobat's PDF format and I'm sorry about the length (32 pages).

Direct link is
 http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~glars/ahbeta.pdf (http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~glars/ahbeta.pdf)

Seems the more I looked at the airfields the more I found that weren't the same whether it was some fields having or not having barracks or different numbers of acks in different positions so I thought what the heck and did a map for each field.

Then I noticed the non-airfield targets also had differences to them but enough is enough and these I've simply marked on the relevant target map.

Couple things:

I haven't been flying online all that much so may have named things different to what has become the accepted.

For acks that are on rooftops, I've only shown the ack, not the building (exception is the HQ building). I also didn't bother indicating the different types of ack.

Hopefully any errors are minor ones but if they're not I'd appreciate an email so I can do an update - who knows how long we'll be with this terrain eh?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Great Job!
Haven't had a chance to check them yet online but this is a great set of maps.  You may want to recheck some of the fighter fields as there maybe some with more than 2 acks.  Can't remember off the top of my head tho.
Again Great WORK! Happy New Year

My apologies for making so much work for you Glars  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)  At the time I was laying out the fields, I thought it would be interesting to have differences (both gross and subtle) between fields...I guess I never thought about the poor map makers :/

They look great...as always.

NP ogre thought you only got to play with the terrain - didn't realise you were responsible for the actual airfield layouts.

HTC are only letting you loose on the one terrain right?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Excellent work Glars.

I'd like to point out a subtle errors
On the Arena Map, some Bomber and Fighter fields are designated wrong:

F3 & F20 are a Bomber fields
F8, F23 & F24 are fighter fields

Regarding the designations, all fine except that the Oil Refinery is Fuel Refinery and the Factories are Flack Factories. Also all targets on a strategic site except AA guns count as 'Fuel Refinery' etc. targets, no difference is made between building types. No biggie I think  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Oh, and the group of small fuel tanks at the Fuel Refinery is one target while the large fuel tanks are multiple targets.

Again, thanks for the work.

Thanks for picking it up so quick azrael.

I've fixed and reuploaded them.
