Title: Halliburton hiring contractors
Post by: 1K0N on April 19, 2004, 06:55:49 AM
Halliburton had a job fair in florida last week and pretty much hired anyone that looked remotely qualified to do anything for the Iraq rebuilding contract. Salaries reported to be 3 times normal range.
There was an article in the local rag.

Why not hire and train Iraqi citizens? We are trying to rebuid Iraq, why not train them to work and build on their own and give them jobs at the same time? Better yet, why don't we just train them and let them rebuild their country?

What I had heard from a few that had got back was that the normal Iraqi male sits around all day getting high, the women do all the work... Sounds like florida...

I'm guessing Halliburton is paying 3x the salary because they figure the poor suckers going over there won't live long enough to receive the money.

High risk, high reward.

A buddy of mine, who I fly with on weekends, just retired from US Customs and took a job with a "private" company to fly a "modified" Dash-7 (probably a "private"  RC-7) in a middle eastern country (he would not be more specific).  His salary for the next year...$11,500/week.

The RC-7 is sort of a transport plane...at least it looks like one on the outside.

I can only begin to imagine the money the people who are hiring them are raking in.

Found this on the outsourcing of the military http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=18193

They were offering cops with experience 159k for a year tour over there, helping train Iraqi police.

I'll pass.

My brother in law got offered a job in construction in Iraq from a UK coy so it can't be that difficult if you're USA based - take lots and lots of insuarance out before you go.
