Well seems no doubt the offensive is going to take place. I just hope it's over quickly and safely with no casulaties Marines or Civilians. Though that would be very unrealistic.
Affraid we are about to see an example as to why US has tried to avoid bloody conflicts in urban areas as much as possible.
This will either be the battle that will put an end to the militia's resistance, or the first of a long drawn out war. Hopefully it's not the later.

Screw that! Arab TV Aljezeera is now saying the Marines are intentionally gunning down women and children and mutilating the bodies of iraqi freedom fighters in fallujah. Take out Aljazeera with ALCMs, evacuate the women and children who want out then do a mass B52 strike on fallujah. No need to waste one more marine or soldier. Arabs already think we are at war against their entire race. Might as well get it over with. The third world war has already started and no one seems to notice it. Yet

IF you folks ever get a chance to see an HBO Original Movie from like 1983 or so..Called Countdown to Looking Glass...watch it....todays times seem like alot of what's in that Movie.
I hope and pray that the Marines WEAR EM OUT.

Can you really knock out Al jazeera or would it just be piped in from somewhere else?
Yeah "freedom" and all that.... but if you mean it, that station has to go on hiatus for a while.

Marines are still somthing very near and dear to my heart. In many ways I wish I was still with them.....In many other ways I'm glad I'm not.
I've got a few buddies on the ground over there and from what 've gathered they are damn close to "lock and load/rock and roll"
for most of them, they've been training in urban war docturin for the last 2 years....it doesnt make it any easier at all.
I myself pray for their safty every night and hope you do as well. Like it or not why they're there....they have a job to and they are going to do it with as much honor, distiction, and ferocity as humanly possible.

I caught a glance at the news today and I thaught I heard that Al Jazeera would not show the execution of an italian because of what he said to the terrorists who kidnaped him. DId anyone else catch this?

IIRC, he didnt exactly die with his tail between his legs. Any westerner not bowing to the superior might of the merciful Allah doesnt make for good anti-West television.

You guys are too funny. They probably didn't show it because it was so gruesome - I'm sure they could have edited out the recorded audio and talked over it if they really wanted to show it.
Unlike American broadcaster CBS, which likes to show video footage of famous car crash victims... lol.
As for your tired, pathetic, 'fire and brimstone' eulogising - save it for the Islamic extremists. They talk in the same terms. I really do think a small pacific island would make a great holiday location for the neo-crusaders among us and the Islamic extremists. They can pretend it's the middle ages again while we target a small, clean nuke at the place. The world would breath an enormous sigh of relief for sure.

Oh man, If folks are cringing with 1-2 deaths a day.. this urban combat is going to be a mess. I pray for our men who are about to engage, that they have clear, steady and sharp minds to deal with the enemy swiftly. That they themselves do not sucumb to the enemy, and are able to return home to their friends and family.

I think that your missing the point, the USMC is not a police force or "peace keepers". It's just not what they do. Read the article in the April 19th issue of time called "How to squeeze a city".
