'Ello lads.
I will be in London from May 24th to the 30th.
I'm meeting up with Swoop and visiting a number of clients.
Let me know if any of you want to hook up for a pint.
-
Sounds great. Where will you be staying?
Ravs
-
An excellent opportunity to drink beer and eat curry!!!
How about Wimbledon - easy access to both tube and BR however Bar M at Putney bridge would be good too or Soho and Chinatown appeal!!
-
I'm trying to sort out hotel reservations now.
Somewhere as close to Victoria as possible.
-
Putney works for me!
If it's a weeknight, somewhere around Victoria would be even better.
Ravs
-
Curval!
An opportunity not to be missed... I live just outside London, about 30 miles from Swoop/Ravell's area - Chiswick/Kew/Brentford somewhere? I'll definitely try to make it.
Dowding - if you wanna come and need somewhere to stay, let me know.
-
for a place to stay...

I'll probably be bobbing around in the english channel for the duration of your stay but just in case let me know, Swoop owes me beer. :p

Silly question... I thought Swoop moved to Rotterdam?
Is he back in GB?
-
Curval
I might have my mother staying with me for a couple of days in that period. Can you be more specific about your movements when you come here, so that I can plan around it?
You can email (orangebeet1e@yahoo.co.uk) me if you like.
-
Beet1e,
I will be staying in a centrally located hotel, but not quite sure which one.
I arrive on Monday morning(early) and could possibly hook up for a beer that night.
Tuesday I have a lunch appointment and a meeting in the afternoon. No plans for the evening yet.
Wednesday and Thursday I will be attending a transfer pricing seminar at the Holiday Inn Victoria. No plans as yet for the evenings.
Friday a client will be taking me to Hendon for the day.
Saturday, no plans yet.
Sunday...fly home.
So...as of right now my evenings are pretty free, but that could change once more of my UK based clients find out I will be in London.
I'm still trying to et a good hotel sorted.
-
Rgr that, Curv. Tuesday & Wednesday evenings are not good for me. The Monday evening of your arrival would be OK, but you'll probably be knackered because of west to east jetlag. And your flight could be delayed, what with all the new security and stuff. Thursday/Friday/Saturday would be fine.
-
That would be cool, Curv. I live oop North so I'll see how things lie. I have to be in Leeds every weekend from May 22nd to October, so I'm not sure.
Thanks for the offer Beetle. If I turn up, that would be great.

Ah yes...well we all have our crosses to bear. ;)
Hopefully you can make it man.
-
Going to Hendon Curv - drop Furball a line - he works there now. If I'm back in the country I wouldn't mind getting the train down to say hi.
Sparks
-
Hmmm.....I wonder if Furball has e-mail enabled. I will check...thanks.
Keep checking the board Sparks. I will update on hotel location and meeting place closer to the date.

NP, but I can't do Tues/Weds. Thursday onwards is OK.
-
How about Friday evening guys?
I am staying at The Rubens at Buckingham Palace. We could meet there and head to the nearest pub for a pint or ten.:)
-
I'm going to be in Italy (Hi Naso!) until Thursday 27th May, so the Friday 28th May is potentially good for me, (although I've got my dad over, so can't really commit). I'll do my best though!
Ravs
-
Ravells...bring your Dad man. We are a bunch of old fogies anyway....especially Beet1e. ;)
-
Lol! At 75, he's not much of a drinker and would be bored solid with WW2 plane talk!
Ravs
-
Bumpity bump.
Is Friday 28th good or not guys (other than Ravells)?

Ah, Putney Bridge. I stumbled home across her drunk many times on the way back to Digby Stuart/Roehampton. I am jealous.
-
28th is OK. If we're going to be pissing it up, I'll come in by train.
Curv - email me for phone number swap.

punt
I haven't heard anything from anyone, and Curval is almost here.
-
Beet...I e-mailed you a few minutes ago.
Off to jolly-old tonight.
We have almsot a week to get things hooked up, but if it just you me and Swoop we can still have a few bevs and a good chat.
-
Are we still looking at 28th - that works for me. I'll need an address. Beetle - any chance of posting closest tube station - I'll be training down.
Sparks
-
Sparks - I don't yet know where we'll be meeting. Probably somewhere near Victoria. If you're coming in from Peterborough you'll arrive at Kings Cross (?). From there you can just take the Victoria line down to Victoria.
I spoke to Curv on the phone this evening. Hehe - sounds like a flippin' Yank. :lol

A Saturday evening booze-up's best for me, but earlier in the week is fine too - I may just have to be more moderate. :D
Work phone is 0208 420 3977 and ask for Quentin. Not that any of my colleagues will actually bother to pick it up...

Has anyone heard from Curval?
Have any plans been made yet?

I spoke to him as he was strolling around Trafalgar Square with Swoop. I'm beginning to think they've eloped.
If nothing is yet decided, I would have to say that Sat. would suit me better than Fri. - easier travelling.
-
lol...no eloping going on.
Just got off the phone with Beet1e...the plan is to hook up at the Iron Duke, a pub right in Victoria Station (train station, not tube station) at 6.30pm. Swoop will probably be along after that but we can have a pint or a bite to eat and by the time we meet I will have spoken to him and organised where to meet.
I may have a client get together to do on Saturday night so I can't get too too sloppy on Friday, but I'm looking forward to meeting whomever shows.
-
Rgr all that. I'll be along at around 6:30, and perhaps we can walk up into Trafalgar Square/Piccadilly.
Curv - still ROFLing here about a certain person being on a certain website! :lol
-
Hi guys
I should be attending too! I'm travelling down with Sparks from Peterborough on the train. Although he's returning on Friday night I will be staying over at the Bonnington Hotel in Bloomsbury. I was fortunate to get a lastminute offer on the 3 star hotel for only £29! I still haven't asked if I can leave early but what the hell, I'm coming!
I was wondering whether we could vist the Imperial War Museum on Lambeth Walk on Saturday?
My Mobile is: 07958 564977

Are you still heading back on the 30th Curv? I'm going to be travelling back to Plymouth through London on the 31st, I'd forgotten about this otherwise I would have been in touch.

Sorry I couldn't make it guys.
-
Well guys, that was alot of fun.
I met Ravs, Sparks, Nexx and Beet1e (Swoop I'd met previously).
Damn fine bunch of individuals...and I haven't laughed as hard as that in a long time. Next time I know to just call Nexx and that will get a much larger group together.
Sparks has the only digital shots of the group..mine need to be developed. Hopefully his wife will let him use the broadband to post it. ;)
Next time the group will be much larger...but I really enjoyed it guys. Thanks for being such great hosts.

Good to meet you too Curval, and also Swoop and Ravs who I hadn't met before! :)
As for the pics, I'd surely want mine censored!!! Eeeeep!
-
Curval! Glad you enjoyed it. I think we all did!
I'm hoping you'll be able to post some fond memories on your squad website. ;)

hey i thought you were supposed to come to hendon?

Furball, I did...it was just that I was with a client, his son and a guy who works in his office. Basically I was concentrating on them and smooshing.
Hendon is very very well done though...credit is due where deserved. This is particularly true for the Battle of Britain exhibit. Man that was a great little show they put on.
I could have spend a thousand pounds in that gift shop too....luckily having to drag everything hoime prevented me from going nuts.
-
Excellent fun and great to meet you all!
Looking forward to the next time.
And Curval....it's a pint - never a half!
Ravs
-
lol Ravs,
Glad you pointed that one out. I just didn't want to get too wobbly too early.
Did you get into trouble at home for being late...and drunk?:)
-
lol! Nah....piece of cake!
Ravs
-
Agreed all - it was a blast. Glad to hear you made it back ok Ravs :) . I had to catch the slow train back and by Hitchin ...... well I have felt better :D . Still set alarm on phone and slept til good 'ol Peterborough and got off feeling stable.
Anyone who wants digi Photo I can e-mail - just drop me a line.
Something we should do more often here in the UK.

Send me a pic please Sparks:

Ta much.

That would be nice, sparks: ravifelicty@yahoo.co.uk
cheers!

My wife will probably tell me I've got my 'drunken mad eyes' on, when she sees the pics.

Curval asked for a ladies beer?
OMG... we're going to have to put a "Travel Tips" section in the Squad BBS!
-
At the end of the session, Ravells bought a round of whiskies. Not 24 yr old Macallan, but it was damned nice, and I'm not normally a whisky drinker. Rav, can you remind us what it was?
-
Now there's an idea - a week long whiskey tasting convention taking in battlefields and museums on the way to Scotland - bit of golf, bit of haggis....

I think it was Oban, and yeah, it went down a treat! :)

Hehe Toad, I did mention to Curval that half-pints were for ladies since it is illegal to sell a lady a pint (old Victorian law that hardly anyone knows of or follows, but it's still the 'law'! :))
-
Yes...it was Oban, a lovely single malt.

I checked and despite my fears my genitals did not immediately switch to those of a woman after having a half pint.
That old song in which the lyrics go "Gimme 'alf a pint of larger and a packet of crisps, please" is a gay one? Or perhaps sung by a person without enough cash to afford a whole pint? Just curious.
;)
I'm betting Toad found out about this law in much the same way I did.
:D
