Here is a film of a P-38 sortie that I flew with the AoM. It was great fun and intense. <

hehe its always fun flying with you slapshot.
dang flap!
When a flap gets knocked off while down it should be gone! Not able to do anything! Rather the plane is like a.... grrrr lol You know what I mean:p
Those NIKs only need to make one lucky ping to really put a hurtin on ya:o

That does suck, just like the BS of the auto-flaps. Since when did a blown away flap cause drag?
ack-ack

Most often it will.
The wing surface is changed, and will most often be less optimal than the wing with the flap. In most cases there will be worse turbulence behind the wing and you may need to keep higher AoA to achieve same amount of lift without the flap. The jaggy edge between the trailing edge of the wing and were the flap used to be will create vortex turbulence. Many minor changes to the worse that in all but every case will lead to higher drag overall.

yes but when a flap is taken out in Aces High while its down it creates more lift just as if it were still there... So when you bring your flaps back up the wing with the busted flap still acts like its there and is creating more lift than the other wing with the flap thats undamaged and up...
This is a bad combo and kicks your plane way out of ballance...And unless you fly around with flaps down for the rest of the flight your dead in the water.
This should be fixed.

Now that sounds like a problem!
I've heard of phantom pain, never phantom lift ;)

In AH1 the damage graphics are much more simplified than the actual damage model.
If a flap is hit while down the graphic may show it as gone, but the FM may be treating it as only damaged to the extent that it is unable to be retracted.

Get FB AEP and u have no retracting auto flaps

oh and every lw fighter easily turns with u
dive flaps makes u nose go up and helps turning

Slapshot! I'll definitely look at it later. BTW why don't you .ZIP films? That 4MB would become 2MB. Oh wait - Nopoop has his DSL as of this week. :aok
BUG! I tangled with you last night. You were P38 against my F4U1D. I almost got you at the top of one zoom - another 150 yards closer might have done it. There was another snapshot opportunity - couldn't quite get the angle. Very impressive E management.
