Hmm
I'm not sure that i like spending my tax money on making the export version of the JSF less stealthy than the US version. I say go for the Eurofighter since one of the main reasons that I would prefer the JSF over Eurofighter is stealth.

The United Kingdom are purchasing both the Eurofighter and the JSF. UK have just started production of airframe components for the JSF. I think it will depend on which version of the JSF will determine how stealthy it is.
The Eurofighter will enter frontline service in the UK in 2005 (currently in service with 17 Sqn Operational Evaluation Unit and later this year 29 Sqn Operational Conversion Unit). In other words it's ready, although the second tranche of aircraft will not be available until around 2010. The JSF on the other hand will not be ready until when, 2013 - 2015? In the UK it'll replace the Harrier GR9.
-
I wonder if all JSF "partner" countries that help pay for the development of the JSF knows that alot of those funds go to making their JSF's perform worse.
-
Bah!!
Buy American, you know all the Europlanes are made from left over B-24 scraps and bud cans!!
:D
-
The Gripen looks like a very good plane GS. It's range is way too short tho, and that is the main thing that ruinedt its chanses in th ecompetition. I would suggest that we drop the JSF and bring in Rafale to compete with the Eurofighter. They both have some very good things going for them...twin engines, good payload and range.
-
Our defence department chiefs just went before a govt. enquiry into why we signed up to the JSF program, and they said the only real difference between a JSF and F-22 is the price!
Bahhh...imbeciles
Tronsky

LOL Tronski :D
-
LOL GS... snakk om sola...
In an article today the norwegian defence department is very unhappy with the JSF project and is considering the swedish JAS instead now

last year we got 3 offers.
1. American... Buy F-16
(revision of those F16 were about 7 versions lower that lowest whitch fly under US flag.
2. Buy new Gripen
3. Rent Gripen and buy them later.
well
dont ask me why does state with 10 mil. people need fighters, i realy belive that 2x S-300 will cover whole our airspace.
but finaly most of our brainwashed senators, whitch has been for that old piece US`s crap (how else shall i call *brand new* F-16 whitch have so old devices that they are not allowed to fly in US)
had vacation and we rented Gripens.
So we have about 10 fighters right now and we are so SAFE!
:D
anyway i would vote for 4x S-300 instead of all those useless fighters.
If they realy need them for defending.

where are you from lada?
-

Yeah i should have guessed when you mentioned Gripen..
Czech Republic :)
"In August 2002 the Czech government announced that after paying bills to recover from the devastating summer floods, it would no longer be able to afford to buy 24 Jas-39 Gripen fighters from BAE Systems/Saab at a cost of about $2 billion. The Czech Republic's fleet of MiG-21s will reach the end of its service lifespan in 2004"

Because that is what i read when i saw the report from the air force guys after the last round of testing before they decided to go ahead with eurofighter and jsf for the final round. the report is somewhere on http://www.mil.no
maybe it has more fuel than the f16 but they were comparing it with jsf and eurofighter.
-
lol yeah..
im a navy guy myself so im not 100% into airforce stuff... the closest i get is "shooting" planes down with mistral/37mm and playing AH :D
is the gripen that cheap compared to the euro??? ...must be powered by linux and amd then, no win/intel in that plane
-
I know that gripen like the viggen can use roads as airstrips, but do yo know exactly the lenght of rw it needs?
-
70 mb...np
dl now

I wouldn't say "yawn" about the Grippen, looks like lots of fun. Would be fun light civilan sport airplane in the USA... The Swedes/Brits really should try to sell it like that in the USA... :)

Oh sorry Grunz i forgot you're the village expert photographer without a lens and a political annalist that doesn't vote.
I suppose every circus needs its clowns.
Anyhow thx for posting that pic it perked my interest in Aviation photography me thinks i'll venture into it this summer.
-
Expert photographer, where did you get that?
Politicaly analyst? Not voting... Incompatible? Really? Did it ever occur to you that I dont vote precisely because I looked into politics enough so that I saw how much it disguists me..
Oh no... That cant be it. Mr Torque gotta make some little smart bellybutton comment now dont ya?
And here I though you canadians were a laid back lot... :p
