Title: An LTAR base defense request
Post by: Wolfala on April 30, 2004, 05:00:06 PM
Given 6 months of observation, I determined the LTAR's needed a more robust tactical air defense. So in response, I suggest that squad ONLY - when they are within 6 km of a base, the ability to shoot Strella's and Igla's at our fixed wing aircraft. Granted MANPADS have a reduced effectiveness against a recip target, but I think it would discourage the vultch to such a degree the LTAR's would become the ultimate mercinary squad between all 3 sides.

Thoughts???

NATO code name for Russian Made Hand-Held G2A Missiles.
Similar to the US Stinger and British Blowpipe.

MANPADS = Man Portable Air Defense System.

Would rather see as an option for the ground guns and Ostwind the quad 20mm gun and  manable 88mm flak guns with A/A & A/P shells.

We {LTAR} have been asking for these weapons for quite some time now, not to mention a lot of other people:aok

Heck, with HTC's approval I would have a couple of friends of mine who are superb modelers & coders design them for HTC.
We'll just keep our fingers crossed.

I agree we need more of a variety in GV's. I would like to suggest that we get the M19 20mm mobile bofors on top of the wemblewind (sorry if i spelled that wrong). I would also like to see many other vehicles it would make the game closer to historical (My opinion).

Actually those are the Russian names. SA-7 Strela, SA-14 Strela 2 and SA-16 Igla. The NATO codenames are SA-7 Grail, SA-14 Gremlin and SA-16 Gimlet.

JFYI.

Thanks Scholz nice catch, that's what I ment. I don't know why I put NATO up there.

Pretty smart for a guy that doesn't know the difference between a Ship, Submarine and a Boat.  ;)

Actually I would like to see either a Sherman M4A3 or a Panther D or G tank.
