Since you guys up North have them now...How bout keeping the 2 worthless cowardess POS up there. I for one would hate to EVER see them back in this countryu other than to be put in Jail or worst. Keep em....PLEASE !!!
Army Privates Jeremy Hinzman http://www.jeremyhinzman.net/media.html and Brandon Huey have bolted to Canada, where they apparently are being well received.
Deserting POC's don't deserve to live here.

This presents questions...
If an enlisted soldier decides against going to a war he believes is unjust...Should he be imprisoned(or worse)..?
If you were a soldier going into battle..Would you want "covering fire" from someone who confessed to you after a few beers he thought this war was a "big lie" for oil?
Yeah..Some sign up for free college tuition..etc
If they want out before battle..for God's sake let them before they cost lives..Screw their records for leaving the miltary(or will it show on their record they have a brain?)
BTW...Don't blame Canada for your problems you POC..(or is that POS?)
-
If they did not want to be in the millitary they should not have signed up. Right or wrong they signed up for a job. It is another matter if it was a draft, and citizens were refusing to go fight.
-

Plain and simple.

He has no right to decide which wars he fights in, when he enlsisted he made a choice to serve his country and to do what he is told to do, like a man.
I have zero tolerence for these cowards.

I would not call him a coward. If anything it takes more guts to do what he did then to go do what is easy and follow orders. I still do not believe he did the right thing, as i stated above, but if anything he is not a coward.

It takes zero guts to flee to Canada..... they are complete cowards and hypocrites.
How does fleeing to Canada take guts? Maybe they are "brave" in facing a warm embrace in Canada.
People like them make me sick...

It takes far more guts to do what he did then to just shut up and follow orders. To actually stand up for what you believe in and basicly throw your life away like that takes some balls.

To stand up for what he believes in? He joined the military and made a choice to serve...... at his option apparently. He is a coward, period.
What if every person in the military could decide when and where to fight? We would be in trouble if the whole military was made up of cowards like these guys.....
What does he believe in anyway?

I am not saying what he did was right. If he believed the war was wrong he should have did his duty then when he is out protest it. Once you sign up to do a job you need to do it, but i would not label him a coward. They guy gave up alot going to canada. Pretty much the end of his life as he knew it.

Living in Canada isn't like going to prison or anything. He will probably live a nice, safe life there, protected by his former American friends who serve and die to keep his former country secure.
I say execute him if he is returned.....that would be a lesson for anyone who thinks about deserting.

you are not grasping the concept.
The concept is: A coward joined the military for his own gain, then ran away to Canada when he was required to perform his job.....that is the concept.

How is he a coward. What he did required more guts then following orders. Sticking labels on people i know little to or nothing about is something i try to avoid.

Okay, the label I make for him is defined as "deserter"...a deserter in time of war. It makes no difference to me what the puss feels is right or wrong, he deserted the military in a time of war and refused to perform his duties.
He should be executed.
-
Is he considered a desrerter by military law?
-
He should definitely face punishment. Killing him seems a bit over the top. I'm not interested enough in him to read anything about him, so I don't know if he's not going to Iraq due to objections over the war or because he ain't that fond of being shot at. I don't really care either. If he stays in Canada, fine. If he comes back for a visit, he can face the consequences.

Dude says he's a political refugee. He goes through our system. If we decide he isn't, then he should be extradited as a criminal...as long as you guys aren't going to kill him.

He sure didn't mind joining when he thought he was going
to have his education paid for though, nice hero :(

I don't know Stabby, the label "hero" came out quick enough.
-
maybe he prefers being labeled a 'DESERTER' then to die for something he doesn't believe in......
he actually thinks....wow......go brain power!!!!
-
Slow you are an idiot.
1st they can claim "Conscience Objector" status and refuse to fight.
This aint 1969 and we don't have a "draft".
Remember the US Marine, Lance Cpl. Stephen Funk, a few months ago that refused to report to his unit? He said he was against the war in Iraq. Turned out he was Gay
"I was appalled by the amount of hatred I found in the military," he continued. "The military cultivates anti-gay sentiment among its enlisted but I also believe it perpetuates feelings of hatred against all that are different either culturally, ethnically or otherwise," in order to dehumanize potential enemies.
"I believe that as a gay man, someone who is misunderstood by much of the general population, I have a great deal of experience with hatred and oppression," Funk wrote.
He is claiming "conscientious objector" status.
The Marines have assigned him to desk duty in San Jose while his case proceeds.
These 2 dumb arses that ran away to Canada for what?
They wont be killed and certainly would not have went to prison.
Conscientious objector applications, meanwhile, tend to increase during wartime. There were 111 granted during the 1991 Gulf War. 28 were granted last year, military officials said. It's unclear how many such applications have been filed since the Iraq war began, but non-profit groups that counsel people in the military about the process say they've handled more inquiries.

It isn't merely a label... It's a criminal offense..

If he had guts and believed this war is wrong, he'd have handled it like Muhammed Ali did - stepped up to the plate, refused his orders, and accepted justice, not flee the country in order to evade the issue. That takes no guts at all, its totally self-serving.
culero

Let him go plant some trees up north nekid and save some money.
-
You need to punish those that volunteer then desert the military in order to maintain discipline and chain of command.
Now once selective service (draft) is instituted my feelings change.
If you cant do the job with volunteers then you should not be doing the job. Involuntary servitude is constitutionally banned.
-
Yeager is right. While I can understand why a person would run from a draft (which is still wrong), a person who volunteered and runs just baffles me.
-
I have re-read my post a few more times really trying to find where I blamed Canada. I really don't see where I blamed Canada.
I've read a lil bit and some media in Canada aren't real impressed with them either.
Resorting to calling me something and telling me not to blame Canada was a bit un warranted IMHO.
Just my 2 cents

Yes, it is clear you are an idiot.
he actually thinks....wow......go brain power!!!!
I just don’t know who is more of an idiot, the 2 dumb arses that ran to Canada, thus ensuring they become "criminals", rather then going through the system like the 28 who were granted "Conscience Objector" status this year and the 111 who did the same in GW1.
However, only an idiot would think "running away” is an example of "brain power". Especially given the alternatives.
the 1 Brain Cell Club......
Don't blame me because the membership board rejected your application based on the fact you lack the required "1 Brain Cell".

Deserting from an all-volunteer army is just STOOOOPID.
recruiter - Everyone who wants to be in the army raise your hand
IJIT - Ooooo! Oooooo! Pick me!!
recruiter - OK son... here's your gun.
IJIT - Gun? Huh? I thought this was a Frat?
-

Batz your the typical Human who thinks signing a name on a dotted line is more important then a human life....
like I said.....your level is to low.
keep insulting....or tryin too anyways.

Keep playing the idiot; I will keep calling you one. Does a dog get mad when you call him a dog?
But anyway you still cant grasp the fact that:
1. These guys volunteered for the military. As such they assumed some risk.
2. There are far more rationale alternatives then running away.
I even listed an alternative for you, go back and read it.
Now if you want to escape the "idiot" label go back and read what I wrote and research ""Conscience Objector" status and how it is applied. Hell I will even re-post one more time an example that was "in the news" a while back:
Remember the US Marine, Lance Cpl. Stephen Funk, a few months ago that refused to report to his unit?
.....He is claiming "conscientious objector" status.
The Marines have assigned him to desk duty in San Jose while his case proceeds.
If you cant see that running to Canada was idiotic and continue with dumb arse statements like:
he actually thinks....wow......go brain power!!!!
and
Batz your the typical Human who thinks signing a name on a dotted line is more important then a human life....
Then the obvious conclusion is you are as much an idiot as the 2 that ran away.
-
you seem to be a label oriented person....
who do you think put this trash called "conscientious objector" on someone.....
your pals that like to CLASSIFY people....
also known as Military Psycho's...or Doctors if you wish....
a civil pyscho doc is bad....can you imagine one thats in the Military....
and keep insulting....it really shows your level of intellect.
-
Another well thought reply!!!!
"conscientious objector" = trash?
Running away is much better?
"conscientious objection" is not a mental desease...
Being an idiot is...
As I said calling a dog "a dog" or a pig "a pig" is not an insult...
