It has been out since september...well october 1st/2nd in beta form.

I don't recall them saying it would be the production release.

It was ... in Beta form. A production release was never promised in that timeframe.

Actually they did say already, but they regretted it!  (3rd Q 2003 I think it was)   Truth is they don't know, and I suppose really can't know until it gets pretty damn close.  (Look at Halflife and Doom. they not any better and they had deals with video card makers etc.)

Regretted what and for what ?

They delivered the Beta ... thats all that was expected to be delivered. There was never any mention of a production version for 3rd Q last year.
