Ok i am going to try and explain this in a calm an cool manner.... :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
Tonight, Lazer and I were over a base capping it... We had 10+ kills each and were hanging around waiting for the base to be taken. This is field A28 on the current MA Map.
The base was captured (we captured it) and we landed... Waited for Kappa to land and then ended flight... Here's where I become angry:mad:
Hit the tower button and nothing... No 10 kills... Not a &&*&$$@#*&%^^&@@% thing! Only message we got was "YOU HAVE DITCHED"
TEN KILLS DOWN THE TUBE for no reason at ALL!!!
Lazer and I weren't the only ones who had this happen to us... Anyone who landed at this base also got a Ditch.
Not only did this happen on this night mind you... AtrmeJ also has gotten a "You have Ditched" message in worst of all... A 262 and 163!!! On different occations at different fields.
I dont care about lost kills due to dying from bullets... But lost kills EVEN a ditch on my OWN BASE is just down right REDICULOUS!
This happening to one person, sure I would buy the "freak accident" thing... But this happening to everyone who landed at this base... Having this happening to XtrmeJ twice at two different bases is not just a "freak accident."

Geez Morph. Like Skull says, it's just a terrain bug. Depending on which terrain it's probably nothing to do with HT. Send a bug report to the map builder pointing out that the runway at field X ain't right.
Oh and in the meantime, talk to Nilsen, he's got something that might calm you down a little and make life seem a little more colourful......

I've yet to see an angry newb. So that rules out sch.. shauden.. Shaudenwhatever's attempt to strike morpheus. He is pointing out a problem which he did not know the answer to, until it was pointed out here. He has the right to be angry, even though he is sucha mellow guy this is obviously a lil joke of exageration. Good way to get your point accross mind you! (sarcasm for the intellectually impaired). What he says tis true though.

Wasn't laughing at Morpheus, rather at all of us who as we sit there having lost those 10 kills or forgot to put the wheels down after a 262 run and cry out (mostly to ourselves it's true) just how unfair it all is.....

I think the basic informatal peice here was how X base has a problem with landing. He added the loosing 10 kills part because it shows another problem. Since landing kills is a feature, landing and not getting that message creates a problem and ppl will get frusterated. Since a huge percentage of game players love to see that message. That is why people land dont they, well most anyway.
I see what you are saying, but I think it may be a veering in the wrong direction here hehe. It is infact, not necessarily unfair, but aggrivating to some people. Still it is a problem and should be fixed. Otherwise take out landing period, or fix the current problem :p

Man, there are many people that I would not want to be around when they have real life problems.
Perhaps however, these folks don’t even notice real life problems because they are emotionally spent after playing computer games.

how bout this one: while fighting 2 cons I killed the 1st one the second gets me and my squadie kills him. With me so far? Ok, right after killing that con we see a message landed 2 kills. My squadie is still staring at the text wich says you killed so and so just above so and so landed 2 kills in a whatever
we got screenshots and film of it. when we asked him about we got no response....ever. i've never heard of nor seen this bug before.

Yeah....... Things will happen from time to time. No need to become distressed about it. So you didnt get your 10kill landing message for everyone to see.
Although Morph will repeadtedly deny it he is and always has been a stat builder/score potato.
Not that I have a problem with that. He is an exceptional pilot. I just find it amusing that someone would become upset over virtual kills :lol

was the runway bombed heavily before you landed by carrier guns or lancasters?
because the actual runway can be destroyed though it is not shown graphically anymore for some reason.
I think it takes 150000lbs of bombs and the runways stays destroyed only a few minutes.

Yeah looking back on the event, it doesnt seem as "huge" as I had felt at the time. I am a filthy rotten score potato. So atleast it was a ditch. Had this been a capture I may have not slelpt last night. Although it was... hmm I think probably 4am I had gone out come back and should have just gone to bed lol. But had to fly for a few:D
Problem wasnt with losing the kills. (ok it was a ditch so kills weren't lost) Just the ditch part. I think lazer was in the same state of mind I was at the time because I could hear multiple beer cans opening up as things were smashing about the tower.
With all that being said u must admit I did a profound job at getting your attention on this bug :D lol

I did that once, i was engaged with a few guys from the 412th a year ago or so, and i had gotten shot down by one of them.... After i got shot down i had the message "You have been Shot down by so and So" and right after that i had the Kill message of "WT landed a few kills" etc... It was really strange, but i remember it was on the Ndisles map and hit the water before receiving the messages.

10 kills 2 kills 1 kill... Its all the same. What it boils down to is we got a ditch on our rw. Now fester brings up a good point that it could have been busted up and destroyed. But it looked fine. Also the runways that XJ got ditched on were perfectly fine.
I dont know how ranting over a ditch on the runway is pictured egotistical but thats neither here nor there.
The fact that it happend more than once to more than just me on several different cocasions enticed this post.
Lord knows there are better things in life to be upset about and this doesnt come close to qualifying as one of them. Tho the game does have a remarkable ability to get the better of one at times.
Nomak, its not about score whoring bro. WHen I go up I do everything I can to fly well put up a good fight and not die. I look forward to finding those "really good" fights and being able to fly away from them. Chortle and I had a pretty good one last night btw Chortle.
When i go up finding a good fight is my number 1 priority. Living is a distant second and score whoring is the last on my listing of things I wish to accomplish.
THis post was to address a problem and have it looked at (and sure, whine a little in the process) :aok

I've heard it in the past. That it is posible. Tho I never new what the results would be. I still don't know for sure that this is what caused the ditch last night. And it doesnt explain what caused others to get ditches on unscathed runways.
Lets put it this way. I have seen bombs bomb the living snot out of a feild. CVs gun a base for an hour at times and when it is captured and it is a total mess there has never been an instance like this.
This thread should have been put in the Bug forum. I appoligize and regret not putting it there.
Like I said it was not the kills I was ticked off about it was the fact we got a ditch after working to stay alive, take a base and land successfully like we should have. Tho some disagree at the importance of landing at all.:rolleyes:

personaly, the coolest part of AH, apart form the actual fights, is landing your kills and being 'wtg'ed by your fellows. and if you have 10 kills to land and are denied then you have every right to be a little miffed. even more so if you were going to land a 'squad sycronised landing' type landing :p
I would be well pissed and probly wouldnt log on again for a whole 20 minutes after turning my PC off at the mains and throwing my mouse at the wall:D

the default setting on rny and twr object is 128,000 lbs or 3 flights of lancs.

Getting a kill message is one of the jolliest things in AH. Most people fly for the awesome fights and land those kills that they have acquired in those fights. Though many may disagree and point fingers and say "XtrmeJ is crazy niiner niiner!". Then why does anyone land at all hehe.

I once got like 18 kills in a B5N and when I landed it, the server said "Im sorry Dave, I cant do that" or some such nonesnse.
I got so pissed I went outside and threw rocks into the evening sky challenging God to come down and smite me. God just laughed and said in a thunder "Though art a Dweeb of the highest order".

happens to me all the time...map bugs...trick is to stop inside a hanger, where 2 runways intersect or on the refuel pad...those are a bit over the top but definatly ensure that you get the message...

What happened was...
I chased the 262s around for 45 minutes in my goon. When you guys landed, I flew past and shot you with my .22 pistol out the cockpit window.
*I* got the kills... MUAHAHAHHAHA!!

Kills aren't lost when you get captured or die either. In fact one score whoring tactic is to fly till you die. Keeps the kills per hour up and the kills per sortie up. Of course you go land if you're out of ammo. No point dieing unnecessarily.

You are completely missing the point here ChasR. And I think it is because you have blinders on to anything but score whoring being the problem here with getting a ditch on the runway.
I dont fly for rank, I don't fly for score. If I did fly for rank and score I wouldn't be dropping eggs on CV's with lancasters, furballing in massive fights.
When I go up in a fighter or a Bomber, or hell even a GV for that matter, I make every single effort to make it back and land successfuly. No matter how much damage my plane may take I make every effort to fly it home and land it. Is that score whoring? I really dont think so. I call it doing the best one can to complete a flight.
The problem was with a bug on the map. And if you would have read through this thread proporly you could have seen where I even stated after this thread was up that this topic was not meant to be in the General BB. But thats neither here nor there...
I think you need to read through this thread a bit futher to get all the information. You may just find that this thread wasn't a gripe about lost kills but rather getting ditches by landing on a runway. Some of which were far from being damaged or destroyed.
Those who yell score potato just dont bother to look at the bigger picture. They dont bother to try and understand why in the world this thread is even up. Its to address a problem on a map. You fly for 30 minutes, have 10 good fights, kills what ever, make sure you dont die, dont get caught up with some stupid mistake, land on your own runway and get a ditch... Do all that and you can't tell me you wouldn't be a little aggrivated, and maybe a bit mystified as to why you just got a ditch, or more so, why everyone who just landed on that runway got a ditch.

That remark was meant for those who interpreted this thread being about score whoring and concern for rank ect. Time to learn some sarcasm:rolleyes:
And if i was concerned about score whoring a ditch doesnt count as a death, so that would have very little effect on my rank.
If I wanted to become a score potato and fly for rank and rank alone; losing the real meaning of the game in the process, you'd be the last person I'd come to for advice.
Keep your blinders on and find another thread. You have nothing of importance to add here.

You got a ditch. It had no effect on your rank, whether it matters or not. You did lose some perks and for that I sympathize with you. I'm also sorry everybody else didn't know you got the kills. Nothing like the wtg's.

Addressing a problem on the map has nothing to do with Ego. As I stated, and also appoligized, this thread is for the bug forums. But you; and yeah, it looks like you proved me right again here, with your blinders on refuse to look at all the facts and all that was siad here from the begining.
Taking things out of context is a very dangerous thing to do. It turns the original discusion and topic into an entirely different one. As some here; you for one, have chosen to do.
Being upset about getting a ditch and not getting a sucsesful landing is one thing.
And that in itself is not worthy of discussing.
But having it happen on your own base, on your own runway with no dammage to your plane is in my view is a worthy topic of discussion.
Could I have gone about it in a nicer, more "friendly" manner?
Well duh, of course I could have. Again thats besides the point. The point I wanted to make, did make and way out of the range of the point you tried to make a few posts back.
Turning this into a pissing contest is the worst thing that can happen here. The topic dies. And that is not the ultimate goal here.
I simply and politely asked you to step aside and move along. You have up to now, not brought a single thing to the table that is worthy of being read and thought about. Your ideas and comments are way off base and out of line of what we were talking about and what I posted about in the first place.
If you want to view that as me being an egotistical ahole, well we can't all be perfect now can we?;)

Had you written more clearly, I'd have stayed out of this thread and left you alone. You implied that you lost your kills if you were captured or killed. I merely pointed out thats not the case.
I must admit this forum stuff is fun. To date I've stayed out of the general discussion threads and stuck to the Hardware/and Software and Technical support forums, which I'm sure you'll want me to return to. There it's pretty black and white, no passion no emotion. Here the passion a terrain bug can gererate is mindbogling.
Morpheus, you're a good stick. I've seen you fly and have respect for your abilities, you've probably earned the right to puff your chest out. However, you're not king of the forum, and I'll leave the thread when I like, not at your direction.

No one earns the right, nor are they ever entitled to do so because they fly better than one person or the next. I appoligize if that is how I came off to you or anyone else.
As I have stated quite a few times in the past here, landing a long and well fought flight only to get a ditch is very, well upsetting. The simple fact that I began this thread not more than 10 minutes after the fact is a direct reflection on the tone I used in my initial post.
One thing that really gets to me is when someone calls the other a score potato for trying to land kills and do their absolute best to fly well, fight great and not die. I am sorry to anyone who thinks that is being a score potato, but you are just down right wrong. I've seen it said in the MA and strongly disagree with them when I see it.
And I am not talking about you in particular ChasR. I am refering to anyone and everyone who thinks that.
To date I've stayed out of the general discussion threads and stuck to the Hardware/and Software and Technical support forums, which I'm sure you'll want me to return to
Actually its rather fun talking and debating with you. It gives me somthing to do here at my desk. Paper work can only be so exciting before it becomes old and weary.

Anyways, adding insult to injury, and trying to point out insignificant misleading information is all in which I was asking you not to do. If you wanted to discuse the terrain, the bug, and the fact that people have gotten ditches on runways that were perfectly intact, I would have given you a better, more polite response. But wise and smart comments like advise on being a score potato will never be taken seriously by me nor get a serious response. It was nothing personaly towards you, only the comment/comments you made.

I didn't say you were a score potato and didn't mean to imply you were, and don't care one way or the other. When I made my interjection in the thread, I had no idea, other than your own affirmative statement, whether you are or aren't a score potato. If sarcasm was involved in that statement, it didn't come across in writing. Perhaps I would have come across better had I put an If you really want to become a score potato in there and ended with a :D. That would have expressed my sentiments more precisely.
I should have guessed I'd find somebody looking for a verbal joust among this crowd:) Unless you can come up with something good, I'd say we've worn this one out. I'm out.

PS- HTC still needs to rectify this whole Ditch thing on a seemingly perfect runway. If its destroyed it shouldn't show up as being there... It should be grass, something, anything but a runway. And when you get a ditch on a virgin or unskathed base, there is something wrong there also.
One last question-
When a runway is destroyed, does the person who finally does destroy it get a message?
