Found out my Paternal Grandfather comes from a town way up north called Gammelschtad (forgive the spelling).
Yes I know this simply means old town, but this place really is named Gammelschtad. It is just NW of Lulea, and got it's name because it is the old site of the town of Lulea.
It is also known as the "Church Town" because of the 15th century church that is still standing there.

Swedish blood in your veins? That's something I wouldn't tell in internet :)

I knew about your scandinavian roots MT, and now when you say you are from way up north, everything falls into place.
Northern Sweden is like the Swedish version of Texas. ;)
If you google for "Gammelstad" you can find some images. Really nice place.

That's the place! My Dad took pics on his visit. THose small cottages are for churchgoers. That was the only church for many miles around, so people would travel to the town and stay in the cottages so they could attend church the next day.
My Great-grandfather rang the bell in that tower for 50 years.
