Excellent Job Tonight Rooks!
Great leadership fester WTG!

great fun and great teamwork by rooks in a very close race to reset with base lead changing multiple times between bishops and rooks while knits were pinned down to two bases. very hard fought and very fun.
-
Hats off to the steamroller Fester unleashed on the Knights. And a big WTFG Rooks who helped keep the Bish at bay. The Bish made a strong effort to take back the North. A few squads (including mine :D ) not only managed to stop the bleeding, but took back a few bases and kept the Bish occupied while Fester shook well his can-o-whoopass. Great Job Rooks.

It was a thing of beauty!:D The Massively Massive P38 mission of DOOM!:D muahahahahaha
-
Wow, this would be a perfect opportunity for a numbers whine wouldnt it??:D
But you wont hear one from me. hehe
No doubt someone else will handle that with haste and forthwith.
Congrats Rooks. I still think your wearing poopy pants

I missed the action last night, but I'm damn glad to hear that it was those thieving (yet, shrewd) Nits that suffered the most. :D
wtg, Rooks!
-
Did anyone get a picture of all of those P38's? If you did, post it please. It was kind of funny listening to you guys discussing not dropping all of the troops at once so the server wouldn't crash.
-
I put up a mission with 30 juggs and attacked a base. and all we could do was take out the FHs and City LOL.
Forget about getting a goon in there rooks kights If yer reading this its a prime
example of how teamwork works!
Wtg Fester.

Here's a pic of the biggest mission of the night.
50xP38s and 9xC47s'
the pic really doesnt' do justice in showing the whole mission but you can get the point.

Man would I love for that mission to Bish/Knit taking off at a deacked base and me in my Fw190A8 :D
SYSTEM: JB42 landed 35 victories in a Fw190A-8 :lol

42 got pissed cause lazerus landed 22 in his A8:D

Pissed at Lazerus, never, but imagine 780 20mms unleashed into that mass of virtual humanity, BOOYAA!!!!!!!!!!

Knights simply must apply teamwork otherwise we will continue to be the biotchs of rook and bish land.

When Fester announced a mission, a P-38 mission no less, I had to join. And, it's rare that I join missions. But, Fester's are always well planned and great fun.
Taking off from A6 (Mindanao) 40 P-38s and an additional dozen or so others who missed the window, formed such a mob that frame rates dropped dramatically. Target was A4, with A23 as secondary. We flew in a tight group, concealing our numbers fairly well.
Enroute, we flew over the Knit CV. Four P-38s were dispatched to sink it, which they did.
Arriving at A4, the field was partially down, so about 8 of us peeled off and finished it. A group of 4 or 5 Knits arrived to dispute the capture. We eliminated them PDQ.
We took A4 within a few minutes. Those of us there rearmed and head out to various bases. Some went to V73(?) and V68, I headed to A22. Meanwhile, the balance of the P-38s had capped A23. As I neared A22, A23 and V73 was captured with V68 coming minutes later.
Arriving at A22, I found CV15 nearby and a few Rooks working over the base. I took down the VH and a Flak Panzer near the runway. KillinU brought in a goon and A22 was Rook. While we took A22, Fester & Company moved over and added A29 to the Rook base list.
Soon after, Fester put up the next mission, this one to A36 with P-34 as secondary. Once again a huge horde of P-38s and 6-8 C-47s headed out for more mayhem. This time the Knits had a dozen or so defenders up. It made little difference though. I killed a fighter hanger as some poor guy spawned in it. With enough targets available, several of us were able to get 4 and 5 kills. P-34 went down, and the Knit CV (CV-21) was promptly dispatched.
Fester then put up his 3rd mission. This one was initially aimed at A30. However, the ambitious Bishops had grabbed several of our lightly defended northern bases, giving them a 38 to 35 field advantage. Mid-flight, Fester redesignated Bish A38 as the prime target, with V-71(?) as secondary. Upon arrival, there was almost no opposition and both bases were taken in just minutes. About 50% of our number diverted to A41 with full ordnance. Those of us who at 38 who still had some ord headed to A-37. Only one or two Bish opposed us at A37. Both A41 and A37 were taken quickly.
With a commanding lead in bases, Fester put up his final mission, to A30 and the reset. There was considerable howling from some Rooks who thought we should be defending and battling the Bish up north. Some guys caved in to the pleas. But, we still managed to get nearly 40 P-38s up anyway. Fester directed everyone to angle-climb (a high-speed, shallow climb that gets you there faster, but with less altitude. Essentially unopposed, A30 went down in about 3 minutes and the map was reset.
While the Fester juggernaut headed to A30, some stout-hearted Rooks managed to take a few bases back from the Bish.
Although the numbers between countries varied up and down all night, it was generally even until about 11:30 eastern. From here on the Rooks gradually gained the edge, having about a 40 man advantage on either the Knights or Bishops by 1:30 eastern.
This was as awesome a display of teamwork as I have seen in Aces High. Fester was absolutely terrific at organizing and running these missions and gets my biggest . Salutes also to all those Rooks who, together, functioned like a Swiss watch. Hat's off to those Rooks who held the line against the Bishops. Finally, a salute to those Knits and Bish who were brave enough to take on a determined horde.
Those of us who flew the missions had a blast.
My regards,
Widewing

Not a whine cause that was the one map I couldnt care less if we got reset on.
But this does point out what Ive been saying about 3 country arenas.
the logic behind it is that the two smaller country will gang up on the one larger one. Thus creating a balance in game play
Good idea in theory.
It just never works that way in practice.
If what Fester says is true. what always happens is just what happened.
The is the two large countries gang up on the one weakest one in a race to take bases while skirmishing with each other just enough to keep the other at bay.
Might as well just have two countries.

Yawn, wtg dor--, oops, I mean "rooks".

I think the problem with two countries is then you never get a reset. Not sure what 4 countries would do.
But yeah, once some real synergy gets going for one side, it can go pretty quick. I think a lotta knits saw what was happening, but we were all having too much fun at v64 to care. Geez, everybody was there and it was one warpy mother. When the guys at 4(?) called out for help in the face of the 1st P38 raid, everybody just kinda said "naaaah". Kinda felt sorry for 'em.:)

It was alot of fun. If you do not like the three team setup, there is always the Combat Theater.

I was wondering what kind of black cloud that many p38s would look like froma defenders point of view great pic of it!
I have film of one of the missions in which the p38 force threaded the needle to attack a29 i believe whiel a large force fo 262s was attacks the neighboring rook base, we snuck in after circling around the side a bit and really gave that base hell while all kinds of chaos ensued with 262s 152s and flaks all over.
the coolest part of the film is the radio chatter. like so many stories of massive actions the radio gets totally clogged and its so cool to hear it when that happens.
if anyone wants to host the film i can email it to them to post here.

Kinda typical...the Bish and The Rooks teamin up to beat down the Knights. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate good teamwork and effective flying. I'm just not that impressed when it's two sides putting all of their efforts into the third side to get the reset. I see that a lot. As someone said, when it's like that, what's the point of having three sides? (rhetorical question)
Nice looking 38 mission, though. :aok

Oh Jaxxo. Having participated in some Bish missions as of the last few months, some Night missions, and also some Rook missions out side of Festers, one can easily tell how well a mission is orchestrated by not only its success but also though how well communication is and orders are carried out and given.
Through out that entire night, Fester made it a point to know where everyone was that was participating in his mission and what he and all of those flying with him needed to do. Every last bomb, rocket, and troop was made use of. There wasn't a thing that went to waste. What I mean by that is there wasn't just 50 people hitting one single base until the very end when we went for the reset. Rather there was 50 or so of us that where carrying out 3 or maybe 4 tasks all at once.
Fester and the way he went about things that night, did a very commendable job in making sure we all did what we had to do to win the reset. Nothing more nothing less.
I might add that Bish and Rook numbers were fairly even through out the night. I even made a point to check on that because I could hear the whines about the "rook horde" before they ever hit channel 1 due to our success. The Nights where down in the numbers but not by much until the very end of the reset. And in no way were the Nights getting hit by bish and rooks alone. Meaning, the Rooks and Bish where also fighting for land for the fight to stay in the lead. I think it was JB42s crew who made sure that the Bish didnt' advance into our land and when the bish took a base back they made sure they got it back or kept them there at that base. It was a good night and a fun night and I think thats all I need or want to say.
Edit: In response to your question Jaxxo my answer is two fold. Do they have to be well organized? No not at all. Do they have to be well organized to take 3 and 4 bases in a single mission? Absolutely.

"H" because we have to!
"O" because it's the only way we know how!
"R" because we're rooks!
"D" because we deny it!
"E" because everyone knows it!

100-1 ganbang = teamwork now? Man thats alot of P38s. how many of you Rooks augered on your 1st drop?

Oh come on...you can't take 50 people off late at night on a mission (plus however many tag alongs, late comers and stragglers) and honestly say that the Bish were hitting the Rooks as hard as they were hitting the Knights. Sure they were pushing a little against the Rooks because they wanted the reset, but we know the smell of blood is almost irresistable. So, Rook and Bish fight over a couple of small don't-mean-nothing bases and the main effort is against the Knights. Typical, typical.
Plus, yes, you can take three or four bases one right after the other from a single mission....if you start with 50 freakin P-38s...lol. Seriously. OK, so you start with 50 and you lose 10 at each base attacked. You would still hit the 4th field with 20. Twenty even moderate pilots is enough to take a base. That is still not counting those that are not part of the mission. We factor in that the Knights were fighting a full-fledged two front war by this point and yes, it is easily conceivable that you could take 3 or 4 bases.
That being said, I am not slamming you guys at all in the execution of the mission. Every now and then those massive "drop-your-drawers-and-bend-over" raids can be fun to be a part of. Wish I had been on to fight against it. Probably would have just helped boost some people's scores, but would have been fun.
50 freakin P-38s...SHEEESH

Actually, Blammo, Fester's raids hit bish bases near the two last Nit bases, not nits, so when ya get down to it, the "our poor country was gangbanged by the other two doesn't apply". Fester and Co. hit and captured BISH bases to retake the lead.......how is that ganging up on the hapless nits? I've been online on evenings when it seemed everyone and their dog was hitting the rooks.......heck, looking at the map you would not see even one nit or bish bases flashing, and nary a dar bar in any of their sectors. Everyone concentrating on the rooks.
It's been said before, but I'll say it again: Each country gets their turn as whipping boys, about a year ago it was the rooks, with the nits and bishes each outnumbering the rooks and both hitting them at the same time. It was not unusual for a map to last three hours max before it was reset and the next one was up.
Now, the same guys who laughed and poked fun because the rooks were getting steamrolled are crying about it happening to them?

The usual way to get a reset is for someone to get gangbang'd down to just a few bases, no new news there. Momentum has to get going against one side, and it takes two to do that.
The last unusual reset was Pizza a couple of weeks ago when nits were behind rooks about 30 bases and bish were going down.
While rooks pounded bish, knits pounded the other side of rooks and land grabbed quickly, amazingly stealing the reset away from rooks over the course of a couple of hours. The key there was that bish out up a heck of a defense, drawing all the rook resources to their fight. Rooks failed to leave a sufficient rear guard hanging around.
So don't be upset about banging, it's the way the game works!

One thing I rarelysee rooks do is pork troops. Thats the war right there in a nut shell. To those who want to win its nearly everything. With out troops your line cannot advance effectivly breaking the backs of those who do not have them.
Many times during the day if I happen to be on; which now that I got a nice little box set up at my office I can play more:D , I see a huge bish or Nit front with strat all up and rooks wondering what in the world they are going to do that will stop this rapid advance. "Pork the fuel!" I hear. Which is ok, with out fuel its much more difficult to win a battle. But I never see anyone; or very rarely I should say, see anyone ever saying..."Pork the barracks...."
And because of that during the day and many other times we lose bases as a result of this. There are a few of us who do try and kill barracks at front line bases and even 2 or 3 bases behind the front, but not many.

When hitting a feild Barracks is always my primary target. Ammo secondary and fuel last.
I rarely if ever attack a base without reason. When I do it is in responce to a current ot mounting threat.
I will upgrade fuel to a secondary target when I see the hoards as this is the only thing that slows em down. But still primary target for me is always barracks.
I have singlehandedly stopped or at least significantly slowed down more then one advance by doing this.
another tactic I use is to hit the barracks at a base that has been very recently captured usually the city barracks is down already and I only have to worry about the barracks on the feild then provided I survive ack or the countless La7s that seem to always be up at a freashly captured base I then go out in search othe the hotpadded goon that is usually OTW to the next base
One or two people can make a difference. And often one or two people can make it into an enemy base when large numbers fail.
