Title: Bury Your Own Fighters?
Post by: Halo on May 07, 2004, 12:56:00 AM: Watching the recent History (or Discovery, forget which) channel program on the F-15, once again it's dumbfounding to see the Iraqi strategy of burying some of its presumably fully operational aircraft, an Ostrich defense if ever there was one.

If you were charged with Iraqi air defense after years of No Fly Zones and national isolation, confronted with overwhelming U.S. and British air supremacy, what would you have done?

Post by: JDW on June 12, 2004, 04:16:44 PM: Most of the migs I found in Iraq weren't buried just pulled down a dirt road in some farmers field and left to be torn apart by the locals. I have a bunch of pictures of what we found if anyone is interested.
