Beta 26 was working ok on this computer, with some z buffer tearing.
I updated the drivers from 7.95 to 8.0, and AH2 from b26 to 28 at the same time and game now gives error on start just after asking for the video settings:
[Error]
Initialization failed with -3
mainGR3D_FAILED -4
specs:
P4 2GHz
256MB PC2700
ATI AIW 8500 128
SB Audigy2
(845PE motherboard i think)
WinXP
ATI cat. 8.0
DX 9.0b
computer's dxdiag dump (http://taenia.homestead.com/files/dxdiag.txt)

Moot, rename or delete video8.cfg in your settings folder.
Try again.
-
Actually just rename video8.cfg, Ht may want to look at it.
-
said video8.cfg (http://taenia.homestead.com/files/video8.bug.cfg)
-
still does the same error after renaming.

Moot,
Have you been to http://www.omegacorner.com ?
The ATI drivers provided on that site are fantastic and are tweaked especially for gaming.
These are the only drivers that I will use and new drivers always follow shortly after an ATI release.

go into AH2 folder rename aceshigh.exe to aceshigh2.exe then try running game. this worked for me. BTW if this works and u D/L a update rename file to aceshigh.exe so it will update then switch names again
-
Thanks Slap!
I'll try that WilldCrd.
-
renamed it to aceshigh2.exe and error still happens.
-
well thats the exact same error I used to get I would call Hitech and troubleshoot with him he help me maybe he can help u with a workaround
-
seems it was because I installed cat8 on top of the last version. the computer went a little ape**** for a while, and everything went back to normal after I made a clean cat8 install.
Thanks for the help.
