Warbirds just went flat rate: $24.95 unlimited use of ALL arenas, per month.
Just FYI with no further editorial comment.
-
Bummer - I'd better cancel my account before they charge me 25 bucks...

Although I miss all my old buddies who still fly WB's (including my brother) I gotta say, at this time, I have no plans of re-opening an account over there. Never say never, of course, but I feel, as I always have, that this simm has a lot brighter future than the other simm does...
-
It's still WB's. (bah) No matter what they charge... why settle for second best?? When were you ever sorry you'd bought the best?

Thanks for the info. But you're right, it is wrong. Perhaps try the OT forum next time instead?

Well, they do have a much better plane set with better historical scenarios.....

Wow, unlimited! Unlimited disco's is what it'll be. Crappy connections, simply pathetic, crappy connections.

now back to regularly scheduled AH channel...

Definitely an O-Club topic.

so what is WBIII going to do? will that change everyones mind VS. WBII ?
-
(http://smilecwm.tripod.com/cwm2/sleep.gif) My AH bill was 3 times my WB bill, from day one. And well worth it.
Now if Dogfighter reports they have gone to 100% gunnery, It might wake me up.
-
I find it interesting the price is lower then AH!!! Seems to be an admission of an inferior product.
Maybe ppl from AW and FA will move to WB now that it is affordable.
-
Stiglr, stop bugging these guys.....
....get back over to AGW so that I might thrash thee with great vengence.
You boys will have to pardon "Herr Stiglr" he thinks a Flat Rate plan will end the EZ vs. RM debate in WB's ...sigh... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Just talked to WBs account maintanence lynx..no ones' current account will be changed to the unlimited 24.95 account unless requested.
BTW Stig...does this new turn of events mean you'll be staying with WBs and not coming to AH? One can only hope.
-
LOL Lynx I was thinking the same thing, and canceled as soon as I heard the rumors.
-
I've always wondered why both the WB and AH camps have the "My Sim is better than yours" mentality rather than recognising that both have some major advantages and at the same time major flaws over the other.
Personally I like to fly both sims, but that's just me...
Thrax.
-
For the record...
The unlimited plan is only an option.
Another option is to pay $9.95 a month for 5 hours, and pay $1.99 an hour on top of that per month. (Silver plan I think it's called, nothing really changed with that.)
Flexibility for those that only fly a few hours per month.

Thrax it's mostly because of guys like MG and sling322 who post personal insults and generalizations about guys in the "other sim".

I am a "don't tear others down to build yourself up" type of person- so I wouldn't attack WB to promote AH.
I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with posting information such as this in a high-traffic area, so long as there is not attempt to create division in the community. Some people could post this and it would be cool, others couldn't, because their agenda shines through too clearly.
Stiglr, I am glad for WB that it will be flat-rate. Your abrasive appraisal of AH is what has won you "friends" here, and guarantees any post you make will be viewed skeptically, whether it is "good news" for all or not.
-
Ooops sorry Cabby I shortchanged you.

let's be positive and take it the other way around : with the money WBers spare from WB, they'll now be able to (re)open an account in AH. isn'it great (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

-
I have no big problem with someone posting about WB changes here, thankfully most AH'ers are not so paranoid about other sim discussions.
Unfortunately, due to guys like MG, there is some anger still simmering towards some of the wb crowd and the off topic discussions. I hope ah players try to stay above it.
As I mentioned in another thread on the same subject, it was the warps and pathetic gunnery that drove me away from WB, not the cost.

I'm undecided what to do.
On the one hand, Warbirds has a great planeset. I am a early/midwar plane fan, AH simply offers no selection in this area in regards to allied aircraft. Warbirds also has many historical scenerios relating to the early and midwar battles. Aces High does not, and cannot until more planes are added.
On the other hand, AH has much better graphics and a seemingly better flight model. Warbirds feels a little too responsive, too forgiving, too bouncy, and too manuverable. The damage model in AH seems to be a little more accurate as well.
Then again, Aces High has the brainless laptop AWACS for a radar system, something I do not like. It also has combat trim, auto climb, etc. All of which is unrealistic. Warbirds does not.
So, when everything is taken into account, I would say they are both excellent sims. Some good and bad qualities in both games.
If HTC put more focus on designing early and midwar aircraft, it would be AH hands down...but as of this moment, I am undecided due to this factor. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/confused.gif)

Cabby - My post was mostly in response to the WB faithful person who insisted on bombarding the open channel buffer with comments about how bad AH is and how much better WB is. It was really annoying and I know, I know...I can always ignore it but I enjoy most of the other witty stuff that goes on there. It was by now means a comment meant to drive people away, I just feel that if a person wants to take time to complain in the open channel buffer about how bad this game is....he can leave.

To little to late for WB's
Good ridance hope they have fun over there but I'm used to this SIM and at least it still has the original programmers still running the show. The other one has had a hodgpodge of diffrent programmers and I'm sure its all a mess by now.........
LLB OUT!!!!!!!!

Igloo said: Then again, Aces High has the brainless laptop AWACS for a radar system, something I do not like. It also has combat trim, auto climb, etc. All of which is unrealistic. Warbirds does not.
Warbirds has auto level, auto speed and auto angle.
Agree on one thing. I too want more of the early war stuff done in AH.
-
I think it's great! It's about time all those good people over in WB can now fly all they want on a flat rate. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
It is certainly decision time now for the $10 ACA all-you-can-eaters over there. I bet most will pony up another $15.
It's a great time for WWII sims with all this competition for our money. Good things up ahead..... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Torque,
got to the place between AirWarrior and AcesHigh..........there you will find Warbirds! (interestingly, with the majority of iEN folks paying to play in the ACA, its much closer to AW).

Too little, too late,
I knew they would have to go flat rate to survive. I also believe it will hasten their demise. Say goodbye to updates down the road. The poor fellows who stayed for the last couple'a years have suffered the tortures of the damned. Connects have been horrible. Cust service was a joke ( I too couldn't cancel), and the updates stopped dead in the water. During this time, they continued to collect the full fee, sigh.
To me it's personal. Dale and crew made the finest online sim to date. They sold it. The new owners shot their foot or mouthed it every day it seemed. They added nothing new for over a year. HTC made a new sim. Some now concider it the best. No comparison. One team has proved themselves. The other has overcharged, while adding nothing new. They'll never see any more cash from me. They have the worst rep online. Have fun.

I realize that one Warbirder has spoiled the pot and essentially labelled all Warbirders, but keep in mind that alot of us still love playing WB.
Bashing my game isn't gonna help bring my business to AH. I'd like to try AH out online sometime, but that will have to wait till I get a new computer. I'll tell you what though, what will most likely keep me away from AH is what I read about WB right here on this board. You all do know that AGW has the equivalent of MG, more than one probably. "So and so posted this over there, so I'm gonna post this over here..." Get a life people. Yah, I know AH gets bashed on AGW, and that isn't right, either. It's all kinda childish if you ask me. I'm not talking about constructive criticism, either.
I like WB with all its warts. Many of you think AH is *better* but that is irrelevant to me. It's all opinion anyway. AH isn't perfect, WB isn't perfect. I have faith that WB III will force AH to take another leap. At that point I promise not to come back and bash old, out-dated AH. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
| Kekule |
P.S, Lynx, you will not be charged $24.95 unless you switch to the unlimited plan. Technically I could stay signed up for the platinum plan and be charged $150 a month like normal. *cackle* I assume that you have the $9.95 plan and that won't change unless *you* change it. Like I posted above, with the $9.95 plan you will still only be charged by the hour. Really a great deal for those that fly limited hours per month.

Good move! My old WB squad mates are very happy (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) They deserve it. Now, if only iEN could demonstrate that WB3 is not too-late-vapor-ware I could re-open my old WB account (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

P.S.: man, I took a look at that WW2 arena rolling plane set ... its awful.

Hummmmmmmmm <looks at AH> <wimper> <looks at WB> <looks at AH> <looks at WB> AAAAAAAAHHHHHH damnit I cant makeup my mind......might go over and mess with the WB monkeys till we get version 1.05....but then again I could just play WB offline for free.

My money is on WBIII being Public Beta in the next eight weeks.
Already seen the closed beta up on two occasions, although they got taken down PDQ when I yelled about it in the public arenas (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
It's a shame the talents of Hitech/iEN couldn't merge again to form one uber-sim.
Still I can dream...
Thrax
-
HTC don't need iEN. They're better without them.
I highly doubt WBIII will be able to threaten Aces High. By the time they et it to public beta, we'll have 1.06 or 1.07, and they'll have an awful lot of acatching up.
This assuming that fm/gameplay is equal.
