Title: BF110 info needed
Post by: Waffle on May 12, 2004, 04:35:05 PM
Im' looking for some info on the Bf110. Basically I'm looking for pictures / locations / drawing of the guages that were on the inside of the engine housing. I belive them to possibly be a fuel / oil pressure guage? Anyone have any info as to these guages? They were able to be seen from the cockpit - not sure if on each engine or not.

Thanks in advance,

Waffle

How about the FM?
Just read that the 110 was prone to get into a flatspin. Werner Mölder's brother witnessed a case when a newcomer to the 110 lost it into a flatspin and perished. Apparently, pilots at that time were warned about pushing it into a stall because of this.

The 110 is easy to flat spin in AH.

The 110G2 will flatspin at the drop of a hat, dunno about the 110C4.

The 110 does it differently, less heft but also less engine power, but about as easily.
If you try some off airbrake stuff, it's easy to overdo the ruddering, kind of like with the mossie.

Waffle,

I don't think the Bf110 is the aircraft you are thinking of.  The Hs129 had some guages mounted as you described because the cockpit was too small to fit them inside.

That is the only aircraft I have ever heard of that mounted gauges on the engine cowlings that were intended to be used in flight by the pilot.

The 110 has 3 guages on the each eng visible to the pilot. 1 on top 2 bottom (arranged in a triangle).

The gauge plate is usually back IIRC......

If you are doinga 110 skin remember we the the 110C-4/B. Erg 210 used these in BoB for jabo raids.

the 110G we have is the G-2 day fighter.

The are many books on the 110, and many drawings you can find doing a search.

Or just go here

and dl the 110 template you need. You can use this as a base if you trouble finding a 3 view.
