Hi guys, I've been doing some experimenting with clouds in the AH terrain editor. Read my post at the terrain editor forum: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum55/HTML/000090.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum55/HTML/000090.html)
If you are interested in trying it out, please do. The more guys try to experiment, the faster we will get some kickass cloud layers to the user-made maps. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I think I have the settings figured out now! Read more of this in the other thread: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum55/HTML/000090.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum55/HTML/000090.html)

For future snapshots and such could CMs use this parameter? You could make some awesome battles like this!
like a ground war with a 5k overcast sky and stuff like that. Would be cool.

Outstanding Camo!!!
I want to thank you twice. Once for allowing me to shoot you down when you were in the P-51 the other night. <S> It was very noble of you to go away from the keyboard, cause toehrwise I know I woud not have had any success.
And your work on the clouds is most commendable and appreciated. Vermillion, 10Bears, Jihad, you and many others are helping to make AH better than would normally be expected.
<S> guys.

Zigrat,
Basicly this system sets the clouds for the terrain when you build the terrain. As such it is a nice touch for terrain designers to remember. Not something that is easily configured however.
Awesome work Camo!

How do the winds at various alts affect the clouds?

Thank you Westy! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) You don't even want to know how awful a night I had yesterday. I *almost* went so low that I would have taken a c-hog, but fortunately I didn't. So I took a P51D instead. And got shot down while afk. After that I thought it might be better to go to bed. In any case, it is always a pleasure being shot down by you, I hope to meet you again soon! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I'd like that too! Did you see the screenshots here: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum1/HTML/006462.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum1/HTML/006462.html) ? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Like Ghosth mentioned, the cloud settings are built into the terrain file and cant be changed by the host. I would like a host setting for this, however. Considering the nature of the way clouds are set up with, I think it might be possible to do this... HTC?
Gadfly, arena winds do not affect clouds in any way. They move according to the cloud settings, regardless of arena setup.

Only the off line clouds are built into the terrain. The same text file is used by the host to configure online clouds and it can be different than the default terrain one.

Excellent! Does this work in H2H too? So just drop the .wca file into the terrains directory? Or into subdirectory for the specific terrain?
I guess I have to test that. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Thanks HiTech!

I couldn't get this to work in H2H. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
I tried having the .wca file in the terrains root directory, as well as the specific terrain folder. I also tried the Aces High as well as the settings folder, just in case. No go.
Any ideas?

It dosn't work that way in H2H.

$10.00 says Camo's next question will be "How does it work in H2H then?"
Any takers?

Can I take part in the bet too, Westy? Oops, sorry, now you lost the bet! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
So, how does it work in H2H then? Like offline, so there is now way to change the clouds in H2H?
