I recently went on a mission to frustrate the tank town enthusiasts as, having various tasks to complete in the day, i left my lancastes on auto climb for 2 hours. on returning i was in perfect possition to bomb some GVs at tank town. after a ten minute decent i started to dive bomb and after dropping 14x1000lbs i was happy to eight kills. i went and landed at a nearby V-base and got credited:
SYSTEM: Mechanic landed 8 kills in a Lancaster etc etc
i then proceded to repeat the process and go out for another hour or so.
On return i did the same with a similar kill swag.
Later that day i was checking this site and noticed i had only been credited for 1 kill in bombers this tour, a P-47 that tried to jump me on the first day. I was not amused.
Was just wondering if GV kills count in a bomber?
Or if tank townians had made a complaint and tank town kills in a bomber were voided?
Or if it was just a bug?
Whatever. dont care enough to wet myself. just thought i would let you know about this HTC and maybe you could send me a crate of beer for my troubles? :cool:

Kills dont count for anything bombers. Bombers are scored this way:
Damage per Death
Damage per Sortie
Bombing percentage
Ground points
Field captures
Ground Categories
Damage per Death = TotalDamage / ((Discos * 0.5) + Bails + Captures + Deaths + 1)
Damage per Sortie = TotalDamage / TotalTourSorties
Bombing percentage =
(TotalTourBomb**** + TotalTourRocket**** + TotalTourTorpedo****) /
(TotalTourBombsUsed + TotalTourRocketsUsed + TotalTourTorpedosUsed)
Ground points =
(DamagePointsScoredOnObjectsTh isSortie * DeathMult) +
TotalTourDamagePointsScoredOn Objects +
(DestroyedPointsScoredOnObject sThisSortie * DeathMult) +
TotalTourDestroyedPointsScore dOnObjects
Field captures = FieldCapturesThisSortie + TotalTourFieldCaptures
GV kills are only included in your "kill" total if you are in "attack" mode. Even in "fighter" mode gv kills arent included in your kill total. Some "bombers" have an attack option.
If you want to "earn" kills leave the bombers in the hangar. Grab a fighter and go try to shoot some one down.

and mostly you will find me in a fighter leaving GVs alone to combine-harvest at will.
was just wondering. obviously im not an experienced bomber :)
it was more for the annoyance of the GV drivers who kept complaining about planes in Tank Town.

Don't forget it takes a while for the scores to be registered, maybe you didn't wait long enough, check it again.

For the life of my I can't understand why someone would go out of their way to ruin someone elses experience in AH.
I believe that NB's intent/design of Tank Town in Trinity was for the use of GVs only, so that they could have all out GV only wars without the interference of planes.
The current architecture of the game did not allow NB to create exclusivity of this area. The high mountains discourage most, except the hard core "griefers".
On the other hand, the Tank Town area in OZKansas was not designed to exclude planes so all is fair in this area. Bomb them to hell and back if need be.
"Tank Town Griefers" fit into the same category as "pork and auger" - "suicide CV" dweebs.
There only intent is to ruin someone elses fun. You are l33t !!!

Mechanic, the most fun I have is in attack mode. Kill GV's, fighters, buffs, whatever; it's all good!

killing GVs is dammm fun..most i got was 10 panzers in a 110g2..i
Its great detraking them ...TONKA TOWN!!! weeee
And yes its funny to hear the whhaaaaa planes are here,...
hmm thts what God made osties and m16s for..
But ya I guess in the reeal world GVS dont worry about Attak planes...lolol

you cant possibly put GV killing in the same leauge as pork and auger/CV killage. at least in GV sluaghter you're still after the kill msg not just trying to slow down a war that never ends.

The whole game is based on "ruining someone elses fun."
I'd like to see you apply this principle you expouse the next time you are lining up to shoot down a bomber group. After all, they are not looking to shoot down fighters, they just want to bomb. Or how about the next time you go after a JABO that is trying to pork one of your bases...after all, he is just trying to tear up your field, he isn't interested in dogfighting.

You obviously haven't run into 999000, tatertot, and especially BGBMAW. These guys look forward to someone trying to shoot them down. Bombing the target is just icing on the cake for them.
In your hysterical fit of laughter, you seem to have missed the point the Tank Town was designed just for GV battles. Had there been a way for NB to completely exclude planes from that area, it more than likely would have been done. Current game architecture does not allow for it.
You probably already knew that ... :rolleyes:
but maybe not ... you other anecdotes prove it.

SlapShot, honestly, there can be no expectation of aircraft being excluded from a ground battle. I know that you know that, but to give the impression that aircraft making their presence felt in said battle is taboo, is sort of silly. What is your basis for that? Why is anyone that bombs a bunch of GVs automatically labeled by you in some sort of derogatory manner?
By the way, those were analogies, not anecdotes. And they only go to prove that your logic (for lack of a better word) is not sound. In Aces High, there is no quarter safe from any form of attack, nor should it be. It is simulated war, after all! :)
You are basically saying that anyone that gets a kill in a bomber didn't really earn it. I don't see how you can make that statement consirdering it is no cakewalk to get a kill in a bomber (in the air or on the ground).
Furthermore, you are saying that my analogy is erroneous because those GVs were not looking for a fight with aircraft. You said specifically that anyone who takes a bomber to bomb GVs is only during it to ruin someone elses good time. With that definition anyone that gets a kill on anyone else is doing it to ruin their fun. That would includ everyone that logs in to AH, right?
Honestly, I am not trying to be difficult, be isn't the whole game based around the idea of killing the other guy? Isn't it the same thing whether I do it in a tank, bomber, fighter or cruiser turret?
Oh well, I'll let it go at that. A kill is a kill is a kill. Bomber, ships guns, field ack, GV, fighter, or your favorite dweeb-ride. I love em when I get them and I hate them when it's me.

There is no other reason for anyone to fly there except to piss in the GV pool. There aren't enough other GV bases on Trinity for those who want to bomb GVs ?

I go after GV's because it's a challenge for me.
It's hard to drop 100 pounders right ontop of moving GV's and avoiding the flackers all the way.

my original comment regarding 'frustrating tank townians' was meant light heartedly. honestly i was just busy and had AH running in background and bombers to TT seemed the best waste of 2 hours available
once again. accept my appolgies for ranting please, but please take back your statement that i just want ruin others fun.
this is simply not true.
like blammo said, if you dont want airbourne foes to deal with, play a tank sim.

Apology accepted and I retract my "griefer" statement.
Still, I don't care what Blammo said, there are so many other things to do and bomb on the Trinity Map that there is no reason to go to Tank Town and bomb GVs. If you do, you go there as a "griefer".
Now that the testoterone level has subsided, I would be glad to go to the DA with you anytime. I will NEVER go to the DA to under a testosterone induced challenge. Under those conditiions, it proves nothing ... win or lose.
Some may think that 50 is old, but I don't feel old ... :D
