Trying to land with the gear down if one of the main struts has been destroyed or disabled is extremely dangerous. It's usually better to land on the belly of the aircraft.
Stukas had explosive cartridges installed at the root of each strut so that in the event that one of them was damaged or blown off during combat, the other could be blown clear of the aircraft so that a safer crash landing could be attempted.
I just thought it would be a neat feature to have included for this plane.

Never knew that, pretty cool, id like to see it in AH2!

slippery slope from that to canopy explosive bolts.
-
yeah that would be nice if that was in ah2:aok

Yeah we deffinatly need that feature.
Its very tricky to land an 87 and keep it on the runway when one gear is out.
What I to many times this happens is fly over a hanger and bust the other one off to even things up a bit :)

Yeah, just put it in a steep fast dive, the other strut will pop right off :)
