Whatch'y'all make of this here thang?
-
D'ya think it'll have safety measures to protect against, say, aircraft collision?
-
I thought the new "Freedom" tower they are gonna build to replace the twin towers was gonna be the biggest in the world?
-
"According to Asharq al-Awsat, the building will be over 2,300 feet high, with 160 floors in addition to a parking garage and the ground floor. The Bin Laden skyscraper will outstrip by more than 820 feet the current contender, Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will house a hotel wing, apartments, offices, entertainment centers and restaurants, according to the report. "
 What...no bomb factories?
Gonna make a NICE target for those B1 Flyboys :aok
-
I think when they build it someone should make sure he is the only punk in it and then I'll drive my camel up to it pulling a MOAB and blast that basterd straight to hell.
But of course its just an idea;)
-
B1s, sure, no problem. What about 767s?
-
Gonna make a NICE target for those B1 Flyboys
Amen
-
Freedom tower my prettythang
more like a "Look you american suckers, we just knocked down 2 of the most well known buildings in the world killed thousand of people and now we are really going to stick it to you by building a BIGGER tower" Tower....
The only punishment suitable for this punk Bin laden is to tie him to a post and let every American kick him in the balls 10 times each as if they were punting a football in the super bowl.
This man makes me sick.

"Today's forecast is clear and sunny, so you will have no problem at all seeing your target.
However, you mustn't forget, that this also means that they will have no problem at all, seeing you..."

I didn't know the Laden family was connected to terrorism.
-
no no no, i saw something on the news other day that said, They (Americans) were approved to build a massive tower where the twin towers once were, and they said including the antenna it would be the biggest building in the world when its done.
-
I didn't know the Laden family was connected to terrorism
Well Torque, I think it's a name thing. Could his family support and hold dear Bin Laden actions? Sure, why not. There’s no sure way for us common folks to know one way or the other where they stand
-
I hope no B-52 Mk84 bombs collide with the building whilest Mr Osama Bin Laden is secretly visiting the building.
-
This thread saddens me.

Meanwhile in Taiwan,
On October 9, the uppermost and final spire segment was raised into place on Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan. At 509.2 meters, (1670 ft) the 101-storey tower now officially holds the world's tallest building title previously held by Petronas Tower 1 and Petronas Tower 2. Taipei 101 now also holds the highest roof (449 m) and highest occupied floor (439 m) titles.
The Sears Tower still holds the title of the world's tallest building to the tip of the antenna at 527 meters.

Bin Laden's family was also a major sponsor of the Williams F1 team circa 1980.

Whyssat DMF?
I think the current justice system is too woman-like. We should not only get justice against the criminals, but take out their families as well. I mean, isn't it the parent's fault that their kids turned out the way they did? Oh wait... that's woman-like thinking. I'm soooo confused!

Hhmm... ugly building btw.

Citizen Guillotine changed his name as well. Seems it got some bad press.

I am truely sorry for refering to him as a man. Which he in no way is one.
And I will say this...
After watching the Nick Berg video (I should have taken XtrmeJ's word and not have watched it) I think I need to back away from the this computer.
I am truely affraid to type any more due to my emotions and I will surely get banned from ever typing another word here if I say how I really feel about these basterds.

A piece of advice from an old fart.
Your 17 or there bouts right?
At your age you should be chasing tail and not concerning yourself with this nightmare.
Enjoy being a teenager trust me the world and all its scum will still be there when you are older.
Enjoy life Please
:aok
-
Isnt he, Osama Bin Laden, Persona Non Grada w/ his family. I thaught either he or they dissowned eachother or somthing. I could be wrong.
-
At your age you should be chasing tail and not concerning yourself with this nightmare.
yea but im not ganna sit back and watch this world go down the drain. id rather die tryin to make this world a better place then do nothing and watch people getting killed just cuz thier in the wrong place at the wrong time.
-
I am simply disgusted. XJ and I normaly are a blabbering bunch of dweebs on squad vox. Tonight, after seeing that video our spoken words were few and far between.
I feel like I want to punch something. Beat someone up. An urgency to make a difference in the world. With all the bad in the world it is hard to see any good at all. But I guess if you look for all the bad you will always miss the good even when its right in front of you. I know that kid didnt belong there. He had no business being there. But what those animals did to him was just down right.... I dont have words to discribe it.
I dont know how many of you have watched it. Or are thinking about watching it. After thinking I could take what ever my eyes saw then seeing that, I was tragically wrong.
All I can say after seeing this is that it puts things into a better perspective as to what is really important. My family, my girlfriend whome I've been with and faught with for 5 years about the stupid little things we all bicker about. My education and the and all of the gifts that god and those who have died before me have put at my disposal. Most of all my freedom.
Well I am done. Sorry I just needed to let a few things out. My perspective on what is going on in the world over there and what we are "fighting" for will never be the same after tonight.

If that's true, then gud ta hear.
But I think it's a distortion...
Watching a head get sawed off has pretty much nothing to do with enlightenment of any kind. Even though your rage may feel like something important, it isn't. Joining the army is a pretty good thing to do. Joining the army because this video made you sick isn't.
You watched it as one slows down to gawk at a car wreck. Now you're paying for it. Curiousity, the cat, and all that. We know terrorists are bad. Videos don't make them worse. They just make you sick.
You're a braver man than me though... I'm steering clear of it.
-
Yep Nash your exactly right about the Army. I had many chances to go. After putting many things to thought, I chose not to go. A big part was school. I was sending applications to many schools back then. When out of the blue I get accpeted by UCONN here in Conneticut. I dont regret not going into the military. Apart of me wishes I was there fighting but a bigger part of me knows that I belong here, where I am right now. (hope that makes sense)
Anyways, none of what I saw, enlightened me rather, more so it enraged me at how pathedic the human race can be. IF we can even refer to those savages as humans. I dont think there is a word to put them into perspective with the rest of humanity.
I have the deapest respect for those who fight for my freedom. The do it because they love our country. The know that everyone deserves to be free. Of course there is much more as to why they do it but those are some of the most important reasons.
-
Yeah rgr that - not much to add but this:
UCONN rocks. Ya'd never think it in a million years unless ya've experienced something of it.
Enjoy yer stay. :)
-
Dehumanization is all part of the drill.
We do the same thing to our own troops. They are conditioned to kill and still be able to live with themselves as normally functioning members of society.
First, you dehumanize your enemy. Then, you can kill him.
It's the nature of the war and has been so for centuries.
-
I have heard enough about the video to know that I don't ever want to see it.
I made the mistake of viewing a similar scene of a Russian soldier having his head cut off with a large knife by some Afghan fighters. Viewing that really disturbed me in a way I never expected. It had sound too and it was horrific.
Its' unbelievable to me that people can be so cruel . What makes things like this worse than accidents or many other deaths is that they are completely avoidable. Some poor exuse for a human decides they will make someone pay just to make a point. Its so sickening on so many levels it's hard for me to put it in words.
I know a lot of people die every day and many like this I would guess, but I don't want to see the videos.
-
Does that involve dehumanizing your own troops before even moving on to the dehumanization of the nme's?
-

Absolutely not. Just the opposite. Perfect example are Marines. They feel in their hearts that they are better than anyone else (with good reason).
-
That's suprising in a way I can't articulate atm.

Thank shreck there are still Americans like you, DMF. Thank shreck this board is not representative of America.

Jebus, I think there are about 4 people who posted in this thread that I don't now consider ignorant retards.

This board is representative of the views of waaaaay less than of half of America, not including the rest of us avid yoke yankers.
Just of the Americans themselves, yeah, they're a majority in here. The minute they hit enter and step out of their cubicle or townhouse, they aint.

Aww, I can't blow it yet. Maybe we'll get to see more of them! They are so very amusing.
I'll give them a clue though - gunslinger ain't on the retard list.

Gunslinger was never on a tard list.
I really can't think of many ( maybe 2 ) since I've been here that I thought were pretty consistant, mindless retards....and both of them are gone now.

Never said he was. I'm emphasizing the fact he's not on this one. That's the clue for the ignant folk.
No comment about the second part. :)

The 2 taRDS Im thinking of have been gone for a long time...... one is on the "other" O'Club.
Now spill the beans!!!

The difference between Patrick Hitler and the Laden family is that Patrick not only denounced his uncle's actions, but also joined the American military to back up his words.
What has the Laden family done? I don't recall even a statement by them...

The tallest building in the world is the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada at 553.33 m (1,815 ft, 5 inches).
-
Considered by some to be a building, CN Tower is the tallest free standing structure. It main purpose is a communications platform.
By most definitions, CN Tower is a tower, not a building.
A tower differs from a building in that the latter is considered to be a structure that is designed for residential, business, or manufacturing purposes. Also, an essential characteristic of a building is that it has floors. The Seattle Space needle therefore is a tower, not a building.
If we measure without qualifications, the tallest structure in the world is KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota, at 629m (2,063 feet).

I'd look at the last one in particular if you're wondering what the bin Laden family has done not just regarding the misdeeds of their relative but also the philanthropy they've practiced in America.
You really cannot judge a family by one bad seed no matter how bad he is.

So... I just read a bit about the Bin Laden family, and I'm a bit upset because I realize that I was automatically putting them in the same bucket as Osama Bin Laden, but that's just not true.
It appears that it's a hard working family that stands for almost everything Osama Bin Laden hates, and that he is an outcast in the family.
With my current knowledge, it looks like they're just another family with an unfortunate name, and that it's unfair to assume that they are terrorists just because of a family connection. They have publically shunned Osama, something that's risky for many high profile Saudi families.
I guess that what I'm saying is that I regret making the inference that they deserve to be punished for the actions of one of their (large) family. Doing so is no better then disparaging all blacks because there happens to be a black criminal, no better then locking up all people of Japanese descent in the US at the beginning of WWII.
I'm not saying that they're saints, just that there's no good reason to assume that they support terrorism in any way.
I'll leave my previous posts in this thread intact because I'm not a fan of revisionist history, but I'll publically retract the badly aimed sentiment from them here. It was in poor taste and not a fair representation. In explanation, they came out of an anger that I (and many others around the world feel), but this is an explanation, not an excuse, so I retract them fully.
Best regards, I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there on the board that'll disagree with me, but I feel obliged to make my sentiment clear.

Well said.
Even more sickening are the suggestions that Bush somehow knew about 911 because the Bush family had business dealings with the Bin Laden family...
-
The Bush family and the Bin Laden family are close friends. They have been for decades. They were the only ones allowed to fly out of the US on 9/11. As far as i know there is no connection with 9/11 and the Bin Laden family outside of Osama as of yet.

<-------------------Is surprised he's not on somone's tard list. i do act like a tard sometimes but not allways. I do admit when I'm wrong and I am subject to change so maybe that's why.

excerpt from 9/11 commission Staff Statement Nr. 10
No commercial planes, including chartered flights, were permitted to fly into out of or within the United States until September 13, 2001. After the airspace reopened, six chartered flights with 142 people, mostly Saudi Arabian nationals, departed from the United States between September 14 and 24. (at the request of the Saudi Arabian Government)
One flight, the so-called Bin Ladin flight, departed the United States on September 20 with 26 passengers, most of them relatives of Usama Bin Ladin. We have found no credible evidence that any chartered flights of Saudi Arabian nationals departed the United States before the reopening of national airspace.
The request came to the attention of Richard Clarke and each of the flights was investigated by the FBI and dealt with in a professional manner prior to its departure.

Nine days inhouse and not one FBI interview, much better scenario.

If it can be proved that their money goes to support terrorist groups then I say that they have a shredder accident some dark night while working on their yard...
Otherwise... leave em alone but keep an eye on em.
