What do you think about this.
WW2 had just finished. However pervious partners USA, UK and USSR entered new stage cold war..............
1946 - Deplomatic relations between USSR and USA are broken. At the theritory of Europ that had suffered for long years of German Occupation new conflict begins................
USAF and RAF
- P-51D
- P-47D-30
- P-38L
- Spitfire Mk XIV
- Tempest
- B-17G
- Lancaster
- B-26
- C-47
- Ms, Panzer, Tiger (limited)
VVS
- La-7
- La-5FN
- Yak-9U
- Yak-9T
- Il-2 Type III
- Boston
- A-20
- C-47
- Ms, Pnazer, Tiger (limited)
.........................
I think it would be quite interesting to see how VVS and USAF/RAF.
What do you think
-
Nice idea, what map were you thinking of using?
I think the KI-67 (stand in for the Petlyakov 2) would work better than Bostons...just my $0.02 worth.

Heheh .... Artik, my friend .... some here will hate you. :D

:lol you right buddy

That would be a fun set up but some people would howl.
-
Too bad there's no F4U Corsair :(
-
You could even add a very limited number of jets and rocket planes, representing the technology captured and exploited by both sides. Too bad we don't have a B-29. Imagine B-29s trying to fight there way through Me262's on the way to Moscow?
-
Post war fantasy... I hate it.
Sorry, but I do.

Hate it, but I'm pretty sure it will be up and running in two weeks.

Why dont you cry about something Storch?

did yall notice that USAF and RAF have more fighters and more bombers then the VVS and all of them are better then the VVS planes (take out the tempest and the b17/lanc then it would be a nice setup) if ur ganna make a setup atlest make it even. il-2 dont count as one of the bombers cuz IL-2 is a tank killin bomber same with the a20. b17 lanc and b26s are the best bombers in the game yall dont need all three.
-
Yes maybe.......
actually the strategic bomber aviation wasn't developed in USSR in the peroid on WW2.
But for game reasons bombers can be limited someway........
And yes some of planes (Tempest) can be limited........

The VVS need a better bomber for sure. Subbing the Ki-67 for the Pe-2 is a good idea and there is a nice skin for it. The La-7 and Yak-9U will match up to U.S. iron just fine for dogfighting. Maybe skin a P-47D25 for the Ruskies too. The Boston will be slaughtered.

By this time period the clever and resourceful soviets had copied (down to the last rivet) the B29. hailing themselves as technologically superior to the west they fielded the great Tu-4.
The great Yak-3 was also available as well.
-
Anyway it is what if setup.......
So most important there is ballance.....
I do not see that usage of strategic bombers will give to USAF/RAF big advantage. Because they are not really usefull in CT. So if there will not be buffs for VVS I don't think it will change a lot....
Actually it would be even interesting because strategic aviation wasn't developed in VVS when tactic bomber aviation had one of the best strike planes of WW2 Il-2. It is great bomber to destroy any tactical target like field because of its good armor. Of corse it needs cover - as any strategic bomber formations of WW2.
Actually Il-2 is much more suitable as tactical bomber/attacker for CT then strategic bombers like B-17 and Lancasters.
-
yea bomers do make it uneven cuz when u wanna take a base theres no bomber to take out town, hagers, ect.
-
Artik,
I gotta say that USAF did not come until President Truman signed the legislation that established a new defense organization for the nation in July 26, 1947 and independent Air Force into being.
So just stick with USAAC/USAAF :aok

Stalin wanted it to be so exact in every detail they even copied a repair patch on one of the wings.

...and it was not until 1949 that the TU-4 became fully operational with some 300 in service.

Hey this sounds like a cool setup, would be pretty interesting, and have some type of missions based on "Fail Safe" that would be cool, that's if any of you people even know what "Fail Safe" was during those years of the cold war. But Anyways Artik, Nice Idea I like it!, oh and Rafe, who really cares what the name was whether it be USAF and USAAF or whatever the hell you said, just as long as it is USA and UK vs USSR, big deal, it's a nice setup either way, but nice try on getting technical about it! ;)

Yes it would be very interesting to see how Mustangs, Spitfires and Thunderbolts will deal with Yaks and Lavochkins, How the strategic bomb aviation will deal with tactical....
