Thank you Staga.
I found the discussion on Linguistic determinancy and free-will far more interesting than the soulless and empty experience of staring at fine pair of mammaries.

Damn! It would have been much better if the thread had started with long words and clever argument and ended with the posters calling each other: 'arse' and 'idiot'.

Regarding John Kerry's flip-flopping:
There are people who are proud of being open minded and people who are proud of being consistent (either always right or always wrong). I prefer a clock that is nearly correct to one that is right only twice a day.

Philosophy forum and they can't spell changing?? I think we should ask for our money back!!
-
Hah! Just the sort of response one would expect from a linguistic determinant! Just get off your high horse, Schaden, and exercise a bit neogolistic imagination.
Honestly!

Is that where philosopy grads go to hang out while waiting to find a job? I knew a guy who waited 10 years for a teaching position to open up.

God help us, thanks for the site. What is that old dig Charon? Is it "those who can accomplish things in life do, those that cannot teach"?
-
With a philosophy degree you don't have much choice but to teach:) I suppose at the height of the Internet economy you could get a job as some company's "visionary." He actually had a pretty good gig as a bass player in one of Chicago's more popular regional/local blues bands for a number of years (they've toured Europe some as well), so I don't know actually know how hard he was looking for a job during much of that time.

Philosophy is like sex. All fine and well, but best behind closed doors between consenting adults:D

I know two philosophy grads that are phenomenal sales people. you just don't want to have too many cocktails with them or very often.
