have endorsed John F. Kerry as the next President.
This group backed Bush in 2000, but now back Kerry - maybe because he is a former prosecutor? maybe because Bush* sucks?
I guess we will have to leave that question for the philosphers . . .

I know what yer sayin' Creamo.
Come on... if anyone can mix things up a bit, you can.
Post something.... anything.
Cuz anything would be better.
Save us from ourselves.

It doesn't matter what you read in the newspapers or what the current approval ratings are.
Bush is going to win, because Eagler said so.
-
How many members does the botherhood have, especially as a percentage of all law enforcment officers in the US?
-
This means that the Union Reps endorce Kerry....just like the firemen.
All they do is then try to convince their workers to vote for who they like. It doesnt actually mean that a majority of them will vote for them.
-
International Brotherhood of Police? Is that a US sanctioned organization? :p
-
Frankly the first time I heard of that organization was when I saw the note on Yahoo. Big fat hairy deal. They don't speak for many.
-
So let me get this straight...
Kerry's a Cop-endorsed, former criminal-prosecuting, heiress-banging, 'interesting'-hair wearing, sub-average-looking(so as not to offend the male voters), medal-tossing, War-Hero pacifist socialist who can't catch a football... for the people.
If he manages to become a Jewish/Asian single-mother, of African descent, by the beginning of next month, he's got my vote.

Never heard of them. Found this about bush in 2000.
Austin-Texas Governor George W. Bush was endorsed today by the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO). The union, representing 25,000 police officers, endorsed Clinton-Gore in 1992 and 1996. This is the fourth major law enforcement endorsement group to endorse Governor Bush, including the National Troopers Coalition (NTC), Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA), and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). Notably, the FOP like the IBPO, endorsed Clinton-Gore in 1996.
"Governor Bush's record of accomplishments in law enforcement and his real commitment to cops on the beat proves to the IBPO Executive Board that George W. Bush will be an outstanding president for the United States for the next four years," said Kenneth T. Lyons, president of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers. "We need a President who will stand with law enforcement with action, and not just words."
Here's why they are endorsing Kerry
The International Union of Police Associations focuses on wages, hours, conditions of work, benefits and job protections for working rank and file police officers, deputy sheriffs and EMS across the nation. We are not distracted nor influenced by partisan emotional issues that are unrelated to those goals. Our stated mission remains narrowly concentrated on the employment state of affairs for working cops. We take no position of the myriad of personal, emotional and social issues being debated today lest they relate to the welfare of working rank and file line police and public safety employees.
Sounds like a money thing to me. Which is fine, if that's all ya care about.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Yup. We want to make more money and work less even though the nations security is at risk. I'm not sudgesting these guys take a pay cut but geeese. Cmon, do you really think kerry is gonna make your life better by : Raising taxes, raising the cost of EVERYTHING by raiseing the minimum wage, releasing more criminals from prison, allowing more police lawsuites cause the librals all know you guys are no better than storm troopers.
PLEASE!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!#@@!@!
These are Union reps worried about Union dues....nothing more. If cops make more money so do they.
-
They are still Cops; I value their choice, even if I don't agree with it.
-
Yeah, it's all about money. Everyone knows how Cops are overpaid, lazy, shiftless, welfare wannabe's.
In case you couldn't tell....that was sarcasm.
-
I'm a cop, been one for 20+ years. Never heard of this org.

International Brotherhood of Police reps hang out at Dunkin' Doughnuts, Fraternal Order of Police are at Krispy Kreme.

By a landslide apparently....day after elections is going to be very funny on the BBS - Skuzzy might have to hire help to keep up with the locks....

I think it will be quiet after Bush loses...the Kool Aid works pretty fast.

no no no....Eagler said something about Bush going down in a landslide.

Speaking as a former sheriff's deputy, I can safely say that those organizations are NOT the voice of the the "officer on the street" otherwise known as the "rank and file". Just like any other Bravo Sierra union rarely speaks for the people who actually do the job. Union management, otherwise known as "those stupid morons who soak up and pi$$ away all the dues" speak mostly for themselves and their interests, and not those they claim to represent. A whole lot like elected politicians. Imagine that.
In otherwords, said endorsement is not worth nearly so much as the "paper it is printed on". Most of those clowns at the top of unions are experts in brown nosing and are in management for the same reason the majority of people are in management. They can't actually DO anything, and for the most part can't find their prettythang with both hands and a road map.

You fervently hope, anyway.

maybe because he is a former prosecutor?
Kerry had a job??? I thought he left the Navy, became a Gigolo and ran for Public Office. This changes everything...

International Brotherhood of Police
Is this another American organization that calls itself international because it has a few Canadian members? :D
