Yup...thats a broken ship....
Interesting site btw mate, thanks...bring the Liberator to AH2!! :D

Yep,
Especially with Tour of Duty. HTC needs to more models to fill in the plane gaps for Historical Scenario's. It would be hard to do Ploesti without the Liberator or Barbarossa without the I-16 or Lagg-3.

Hi Mates
Was wondering if AH has any plans to bring in the B-25 series and the B-24. The 25 saw action in every theater of WWII. Had some great models. The C which flew off the carriers, to the H with the cannon and many .50's to the J which could do it all. Good at both high and low levels.
I like the A20 and the B26 that we have now, but the buff collection would be complete with the B-24 and B-25. Certainly would add to the game.
At the same time the Beaufighter and the Beaufort would also be nice.
When is AH going to be getting new aircraft?? Anyone know?
Cheers

AH2 is top priority. Officially, HTC has said that there will be no new planes until after AH2 is released (gettin' close :)), and then new planes will be added like in the good ol' days.
There have been rumors of HT testing a new plane though, so we might get an early surprise with AH2.
Also, the new AH2 engine supposedly makes it easier for new planes to get added, so hopefully they'll come faster than they did in AH1.

I have 1:12 scale B-24D liberator plans
I also can make up some good plans for the liberator cockpit canopy if it would be helpful in seeing a b24 to ah2
I wanted to build the model for the B-24 for ah2 but seems it isnt possible (still bummed about that B-24 is my favorite plane ever)
problem with modelling the B-24 from my point of view is all drawings and plans of it still in existence are artists renderings. the actual factory blueprints seem to be unavailable.
as a result no artists plans have correctly drawn the pilots greenhouse canopy and its been the cause of much confusion.
it took me a mountain of photorefernces to get a good faximily of the actual b-24 canopy shape to get it close but even its not as good as a model done from the actual plans.
I was thinking about going to fantasy of flight to measure up their B-24J but its not there anymore. they flew it out a few years ago i heard.
anyways the plans I have are in exact proportions and very accurate except the cockpit canopy (wrong on every drawing ever made of the liberator)
but everything else looks good and it has full cross sections.
plans by dan palmer a pretty famous rc model plan maker.
B-24 is one plane i desperately want to see in ah2.
its so ugly its beautiful :)

also a pb4y version would be the ultimate MA buff. gun turrets all over hehe.

I hopefully should be getting access to the inside of a B24 later in the year. I just hope it's before I move to Germany!
If I do then I can take some photos and publish them here.

Citabria, what software are you using, and how many polys is that B-24 ?
AH 's(no idea what AH2 is using, but I figure its the same) 3D models uses a file format thats a little different from what most are use too. It includes a database function, that includes data on the aircraft as well as the 3D model.
FYI for you 3D modeling types, Lightwave 8.0 just came out. Mine came in the mail a couple of days ago, and the wife just gave it to me last night.
-
i used 3d studiomax6 to build them.
they are low poly models 2500 polygons but they need detailing so i estimate a finished verision would be 3500 to 4000 polygons.
i was thinking of buying multigen to see if its as intuitive as 3dsmax is. anyone had a chance to use it?
-
I use Lightwave myself, and I've dabbled with AC3D (great little modeler for $50). Never touched Multigen.
Most of my models have been Vietnam era jets. I was working on a MiG-19S, but its been untouched the last 4 weeks while I've been trying to get two seperate houses ready to sale.
Nice B-24 Citabria. :)
Edit: Citabria, could you send me a quickie email to verm at vermin dot net ? I want to talk models on the side without cluttering up the board, and I don't have your email.

email sent :)
but in case it didnt arive (my email is twitchy ehhe)

replicant if so can you make measurements in feet and inches of the pilots canopy windows?
width height on all sides (they are actually different on some windows form top to bottom)
also if you could measure distance across the cockpit from each 4 corners of the side windows.
a meters tape measure would be fine too dosnt matter just needs accurant dimensions. no artists plan drawings has it correct around cockpit glass canopy they all screwed it up. even monogram models old b24 kit ist correct (because they built it off the artists plans too back in the late 70's)
but if its a hassle dont worry bout it.
dragon and his tail the b-24J flies into the local airport pretty often will try to inspect and measure it up next time its here.

Thats a good website. Thanks for posting.
