With the sun at the top it is still like the darkest winter day I've ever seen.
-
Up your gamma a bit, worked for me.
I had a hard time seeing the carrier on the sea textures, it's better now
-
I did a bit of playing with the color schemes offline.
Setting all colors to white except sky it got a LOT lighter.
Looked like a nice day with a bit of haze.
HT lighten it up please if possible.
Hate flying with my head hunched cause I feel like Its going to rain any second.
-
Agree it needs to be lightened up; it seems too dark when compared to AH1.
-
LOL! It's a lot brighter than earlier betas! :)
-
You guys (and girls) are playing in the dark side?? (bishops or knits)
:D :D :rofl
-
Actually I've been playing as Rooks in AH2..... ;)

Howdy Sawon. Gamma is not the answer, may be gamma + contrast, but gamma alone gives weird results.
-
I think it's largely the landscape textures that are too dark and dreary, not the ambient light.
-
MandoCete, is that you? :D
I played with Gamma (not in AH, but in the Geforce menu).... I'm colourblind anyway, so my apreciation might not be 100% accurate :)
-
you're not 100% accurate period.
:D
-
You git, taking advantage of the less sighted is not nice :o
:D
-
Lol, I'm in the same boat I'm red/green colorblind.
-
Too dark for sure on land and the water seems almost black
-
Land ambient light is ok on my rig, might even turn it back a notch but the sea soaks up the light Down on the deck fighting I can't see a thing. Blue black like dusk in AH1.
-
I was flying a bit last night, and about an hour before the sun set I was unable to tell my FM2 wing from the sea. Both were pitch black. Gamma was at 1.25.
-
it is really too dark.....
-
Pretty dark on my system too. Is this perhaps something that could be fixed with a different vid card? I am using an older GeForce 2 MX400. I heard one player mention he was not having any problems with it being too dark, so maybe its my card?
-
Only bad thing I have to say about AH2 is the the lighting....
-
The sea is too dark for me to fight at low alt or on the deck. Land could be brighter too.
When i play with gamma settings, the sky is MUCH too bright.

Glad to see Im not alone
-
no not you, AH2 :)
yes, it needs to be brighter
maybe they have to keep it that dark to get the sun glare effect

winter days are usually quite bright because of the reflective qualities of snow...a completly overcast winter day is brighter than a similarily overcast summer day

Now try to imagine a winter day without snow ...
-
Would running gamma up make the sun wash-out effect brighter (bigger) too? If so that would be a bad trade.
-
you guys might not be aware of this but there is a tradeoff between terrain brightness and contrast and the level of eyestrain it gives off.
thats my theory on why ah2 terrain is so dark but I think at this point the ambient lighting is fine and it is the actual texture colors that could be altered more colorfully and brighter.
currently it is very eyestrain conservative lighting and contrast.
id never thought about this till i played for a while on ozkansas map, I made the clipboard to bright and the thing is so bright compared to everything else in the screen and terrain that its painful to look at. hopefully htc will update it for next time its up with the patch i sent in that fixes that.
