bish gave away all their bases to knits who were in the northeast corner.
but once knits got to bish hq and destroyed it bish started fighting knits too hehe.
-
ahhh probably happened when I logged too:mad:
wtg again rooks! :D
-
hey morph, nice boobs err, avatar
-
Bet it takes tons of skill and co ordination to up hoards of planes and steamroll bases against what ends up to be token resistance do to the sheer number difference.
Yippi for the rooks:rolleyes:
But you do have one point that the knits seem ta do. and that is mount attacks against the wrong people.
I logged when we were still desperately trying to hold onto 13 bases. Most of which were ours to begin with.
But I've seen what you describe time and again.
We(knits) tend to attack the lesser threat then the larger one which only antagonizes the other country in this case the bish to start siding with the larger country.
Usually it starts out to just get a couple of bases we can work from with the intent of a counter attack. But then it tends to get out of hand
As much as I HATE the large scale hoards. (You will rarely find me paticipating in one) I often find the lack of a serious effort on our part to counter attack almost as irritating.
In this game the side that spends most of its time over its own bases defending defends nothing.
You can only defend your bases by spending more time over enemy bases then you do your own.
In short, you either attack or you loose
-
Don't see the appeal - but this explains why so many were in AH2 last night but almost none were on rook team.
-
Don't know about all this and that, I just know I had a good time last night.
First time I ever got to play Oz in the MA. TAS recently went Rook for some reason, so I had to switch countries to join them. Due to real life stuff, I haven't played much in months.
Anyway, fought against Bish from CV's for quite a while. Had a blast. What they lacked in quality, they made up for in numbers. In short, Tasted Great but sadly Less Filling.
to all you guys that made it such a fun evening!
-
A point some can't understand. Many of the Knits just don't care anymore about the arena reset nor who has the most players and is bulldozing through the arena. Instead. Knits tend to seek fun battles and focus on winning a select base or two. They often avoid the roaring hoard because being outnumbered 10:1 isn't fun.
If you Bish want to run on the Rook's hamster wheel of mindless real estate carnage, knock youselves out. But if you rather have fun, meet us at a pair of bases in a corner of the arena where the Rooks haven't yet ruined the game.
Let the Rooks play with themselves... obviously it is what they enjoy most. >=o)

Grizzly,
The rooks didnt set the arena objective, you know that. I cant believe you thing think its mindless. You just arnt following the mindset.
First you take as many fields as possible, then you force a reset...
Then you take as many fields as possibe, then you force a reset...

::shakes my head:: OK maybe your right, I'll just go back to what rooks enjoy most... Got any porn?
-
Sorry Grimm we don't got any sheep porn :)
I am in full support of the whole first part of Grizzly's post... he makes some great points that are mostly true about the people who fly for the knight chess piece.
I think the best fun i had last night was at A27 when me and honch were flying P-40Es.... All those P-38s showed up and was extremely fun dodging them and killing them all the same...I got 4 of those bastages :D and woulda killed a spit too if it weren't for octavius's fetish for shooting down every P-40 he comes across :lol
-
Sounds to me like the Bish were so busy pillaging along the south that they forgot to watch the Knights.
-
Sunday night, due to the advent of RJO back in the dark ages of Rookland, has become the squadnight for many Rook squadrons. What you saw last night was not even RJO, it was just several of our premier squadrons working together for a common goal with Fester rallying everyone else via interesting and creative missions. For all those who love to whine about Rooks co-ordination there is absolutely nothing preventing Knights and Bishops from organizing something similiar.
So, rather than whine and complain perhaps getting off your unmotivated, lazy, complacent arses and organizing yourselves would be a more fruitfull expenditure of that pent up frustration and energy....

Damn You Octavius!!!

...and the big deal is?? If a country can't reset an arena with 1 to 1 odds on the other 2 countries, that would be news.
As for Grizz's post, it pretty well describes my Sunday evenings. I usually log in and play for an hour or so. Then it just become tedious to continually have to climb above 25k to have a chance to survive the inbound horde. Then, I watch TV or play another game. My problem is that I don't care for hordes (friendly or enemy). Oh well, as long as no one can muster those numbers 7 nights a week....I can still find some fun :).
-
Hordes suck. It doesnt matter if your a horder or a hordee, it sux.
I dont play much anymore because there are so few fights & soooo many hordes. Log-in & scan the map for a relitively even battle, then log
-
hey fester i useley dontlike your maps but ozkansa is great i love furball island:aok
-
The 339th FG was formed just over a year ago. A new squad with all NEW players. ROOKs were the sorry underdogs. We joined the ROOKs. Seemed the thing to do. Now ROOKs are not the underdogs. When I think about changing countries for numbers balance I worry about attitudes like Grizz's! "Two fields in the Corner". Isn't that H2H? Is it attitude Grizz, or Sour Grapes? Grapes do go sour in those Tanks. It's the heat ya know ;)
Some Sundays do become akin to a "Baby Seal Clubbing". I think most Rooks hope that both Bish and Knits will react in kind to our RJO approach. Get organized! Get it together and come kick our butts!
It was amazing to see how country numbers and balance changed once the Rook RJO's emerged. I will say it is very fun to be a small part in the Rookdom machine when it gets rollin. No drivel on country channel. All business, All coordination, All for One and One for ALL.

NB, don't climb.
You'll usually find some like minded low flying folks and start having a good fight or two away from the hordes.
The high-altitude-brain-damaged guys (as we used to call SR drivers ;) ) will come down and try to cherry pick you while you're busily engaged with a few others.
If you're not totally involved and see them coming, it's easy to dodge 95% of 'em. If they actually get you, who cares? I mean it's basically a vultch..... let 'em zoom back up chortling about how fabulous it was to actually kill someone that didn't see them.
You may get a crack at 'em after they B&Z a while; most of them go to the well once too often.
-
These whiners are some of the biggest jokers I have ever heard from. Where was the whining when Knights were desending down South from the Norteast corner of the map on Saturday? I didnt here a single whine from Bish as they pummeled my squad at A114 on Friday. Oh I guess hordes are in the eyes of the horders huh?

I think Zazen says it all. Oz is a well thought out map not easily taken by a hord alone. You need to take that high alt base in the rear, once you have that it's all over! When the Rooks were low in numbers they recruited. Guess it worked, go figure?
Back to the post. Oz is a great map and the fact it can be reset is a testiment to the design. Way to go Fest!
If you're looking for that perfect 1vs1 go to the dualing areana. If you want real plansets, early war or late war try the Special events or the Combat Theatre. If you want lots a guys in lots a planes with an unpredictable balance of numbers or planes, I give you the Main! The Main rules! Sorry to the whiners who are excellent sticks but get caught once in a while in the Main and think they should come to the BBS to voice their complaints. Or is it just that the whiner's hord isn't on tonght? lol
-
The hordes are here to stay, that is the way the game is. The best thing to do is learn how to beat the hordes.
First thing you need to do id throw your vanity to the side and not give a f u k if you die, its a game.
Second thing is learn how to reverse your high alt dweber enemy.
Third when you log on go strait to the largest enemy dar bar you can find at about 5k in a spitV and pratice fighting while being outnumbered.
Fourth take a deep breath and have patience.
If you follow these simple steps in time you will find that you are surviving the unsurvivable and then your hooked.
Toad is right, last night we were upping in at least 4 to 1 odds. Yeah we got killed alot, but we killed alot too. Ok I got killed alot Toad and the rest just kept killing everyone. :D What a blast tho -everyhwere I looked I was dodging someone and killing someone else.
If your looking for the heart racing, palms sweating yank and bank, edge of your seat Air Combat, this is one way to find it. Plus you'll never whine about hordes again.
On the other hand if all you want to do is pound sand then fly offline.:D
If all you want to do is fly around and fight for kills against a bunch of green guys, join the rooks. :D Just kidding Rooks.

Yeah, god forbid you defy the great lemming horde. Of course
logging on to find you're already pushed to a corner with no dar
fields porked and capped..stop whining! You should never have
logged off if you wanted TO WIN THE WAR! Methinks thou great
"stratejeerists" forget this is a game.

It’s this simple,
A military force gathers up most of its forces to attack at a certain time and takes all the land...(The game objective)

I hope the knights never organize like that, I'll have to find a new country.

I was flyin that way more often. Then, a few weeks ago, my dam joystick started spiking again. I never was a great knife fighter, with a spikey stick, i spend more time recovering from accellerated stalls than fighting :(. Oh well, I still enjoy my Sunday evening Call of Duty sessions :).

It's all a matter of preference Zazen ol' friend. If you look around the arena you'll see players doing many different things... things that they enjoy. I don't care much for organized play. And though it looked like I was complaining, I wasn't really. Those who like stomping the heck out of the entire arena enmass are perfectly fine. I don't care. I was just explaining that this is why Knits don't unite for the greater good. We're not playing that game. It is a shame though, when we want a couple hours of fun, to find our part of the arena reduced to a few bases totally capped.

No, H2H is two players. All that is needed to have fun is a bunch of players split into two teams and something to fight about. The keyword here is "fight".
Some Sundays do become akin to a "Baby Seal Clubbing". I think most Rooks hope that both Bish and Knits will react in kind to our RJO approach. Get organized! Get it together and come kick our butts!

You needn't worry about us. The Knits are having great fun, but not doing the things you enjoy, like the RJO thing. It's a big arena. You can do your own thing, but don't expect the rest of us to join in. We have our own games to play. My only complaint about how you play is that it interferes with other players' fun after you've screwed up the entire arena. And it would be nice to have radar sometimes... but I'm not complaining.

The key phrase in the above that is at the root of all this is "The game objective". In AW there was no game objective defined by the game provider. It was left up to the players to set their objective, and many objectives could co-exist. As a result there were many conflicts going on all over the arena. When they changed the game to allow base capture, that's when the problem started. Now by providing this objective, HiTech made the problem much worse. But then, it's his game and he can do as he wishes.

Well, to each their own but Aces High as it pertains to the MA is a TEAM game. What you described as your pattern of play doesn't sound like team playing at all. What Rooks do on Sunday night is just quintessential team play.
I understand that some perceive Aces High countries as merely 100+ individuals pursuing their own selfish goals, but don't expect any sympathy because the MA environment is not to your liking when you decide to log. Simply put, a country that plays like a team gets the luxury of a MA more to their liking than a country that does not, to expect otherwise is rediculous. How this is not as obvious as a dog's balls to everyone is beyond my comprehension.
-
Having the FB, the Damned, and the MAWs on Knits is a crime punishable by the horde.
Send them away to Bish, my Knittish friends, and we Rooks will start spanking the Bish.
-
WRONG Grizz!! H2H is 8 players 4 on 4 preferable, but you get the picture. Two fields two teams.
We screw up the arena? On my grizzled combatant, NOTHING screws up this game or the arena like GV's. Ya know, like where you spend a huge amount of time! Hidden on the rearm pads and other difficult well rehearsed spots.
As mentioned above, the Rooks are the essence of the game. Field Capture and Map reset are HTC's preset goals for the MA. All other variants of the game are tolerated and alive in the MA. No contest! Play what you want, but PLEASE don't whine, wimper, or accuse us of "Screwing up the Arena."
The 339th has to tolerate GV's. Please tolerate what we do! WE TAKE FIELDS, Lots of them.
Sir

Yes Grizzly spends alot of time in GVs but who cares....that is how he wants to play...My own opinion is that he was tired of getting gangbanged while flying and is having a better time shooting the lemmings down...He's saved my butt a lot of times...Also he has saved many bases and cv's.... Grizzly used to fly a lot and was darn good at it and i bet he still is....So what if he likes killing people in his osty....He ain't porkin yer field with low level suicide buffs over and over and over....

It evident that the game and the outcome of your contribution is very important to you. Your not alone.

It all shakes out, you got a skin, and I had my fun.
Funny how it all works out ;)

My kid got that and I've been messing about with it. Seems like the little troopers are on speed the way they run.
Still for some quick shootin' and killin' it can be fun. Maybe we oughta team up sometime. You could "larn" me sumpin'.

Yah, the AI in COD is the smartest I've seen so far (both enemy and friendly). Been having a lot of fun with it (tryin' to get through on the murderous mode now :)).
As for teaming up...after 10+ years of being pretty much a solo act, old habits die hard :).

Until something like the perk multiplier is applied to scoring this is the sort of game you will get. That is the simple math of it.
Scoring is the primary carrot in AH, so important some even use multiple accounts to get it. Teams may switch roles but until (rather if) they take away the carrot of scoring through unfair advantage, the rest are going to get beat with the stick of gangs.
Perk balancing was a GREAT IDEA, now apply that concept to what really matters to people and the MA might become a different place, a more competetive place, for everyone.
-
As long as there are targets this game is ok by me. It's the long flights and the runners that suck.

You might call it selfish goals, but it is players doing as they choose, not what you choose. And that is what I expect. I do not expect that gang bangers will stop banging nor land grabbers will stop grabbing nor Rooks will stop playing with themselves on weekends. 'Twill always be so, because they too are doing as they choose. I also expect that I can state an opinion without having it twisted to someone else's agenda. I hope this is as obvious as dog's balls to you.

I'm afraid you are wrong my dear combatant. Head to Head is play between two players hooked up via modem or network. Eight players is called "Multi-Player", with eight being a common limit for these types of games, but it is often a lot more. What made AW unique (later WB and AH) was that there is no technical limit to the number of players that can play directly against each other. This is called "Massive Multi-Player".
You seem somewhat irked by GVs... all the more reason for me to use them >=oP

Btw, the MA is NOT about "team play". It's about doing what you want to do, whether it's team play or solo, gv's or planes...etc.. That's the reason the lil generals get laughed at so often, you can't force anyone to play the way you want them to play :).

Here's the thing. If you choose not to fly with your team's horde you are, more often than not, fighting another teams horde.
Next time you are pissed about fighting the horde, open the full map watch your team swarming undefended fields.
...ok, ok, I know YOUR team is above all that. Right? But how can everybodies team be above it?

I know this may come as a shock to some but for alot of people particpating in organized team play is FUN and does exist in Aces HIgh MA as is evidenced by Rooks on Sunday night. I'm not saying just doing your own thing doesn't have the potential to be fun also. But in terms of countries dominating the MA, the team working together most proficiently will tend to make the MA an unpleasant place to 'do your own thing' for the other two teams more often than not...

Obviously, do whatever turns you on, but do not whine when 'doing your own thing' paying no heed to the overall strategic dynamic of the arena is thwarted because another team is working efficiently in concert for common objectives. Indirectly you are the cause of your own dissatisfaction, plain and simple...

I recall that fight vaguely, I don't remember killing you specifically as I killed 6 Knights/Bishops in about 5 minutes. But, I do recall I was one of only two Rooks in a plane in that sector (the rest were in GV's at the Vbases) with a constant influx of Bish and Knit planes. I guess for you that was in too deep lol. There was not much notable about that mission, just the same old, up in a great turner (Spit 5 if I recall), yank and bank with some Bish/Knit dweebs, shoot em all down then land, pretty typical really, glad you enjoyed yourself though...

You are absolutely correct. The creation of the perk modifier made a positive change, but the effect was short lived. Score is not effected at all. A kill is a kill regardless of the circustances under which is is obtained (hence the appeal of gang bangs).
Zoom the map out pretty much anytime and look at the balance of green vs. red for the teams. I just looked right now just to double check and yep, country has a big red bar on one end and a big green bar on the other. You can look pretty much anytime from any team you will see much the same.
No one is "forced" to play this way, but it sure seems like they are paid to. If that is desireable gameplay or not, you be the judge.

Well Zazen, it's pretty obvious that the only organizational advantage the rooks have is being able to consistantly get enough people on Sunday nights to outnumber the bish/knits. I realize this will be a shock to you, but, the bish and knits can also dominate the MA when they have odds. Here's the real kicker...organization is only really impressive when you can do it WITHOUT odds. Guess what, each country has done this in the past.

Not to mention the fact that they completely outnumber their opponents. Gimme a break, Chinese/Russian military tactics are only impressive in their scope...not their execution. As for you pointing out that I am responsible for my on dissatisfaction...well, DUH!!! I never said I wasn't, all I did say is what I chose to do when I become dissatisfied. Had you bothered to read what I wrote, you would have noted that I said the MA is there for everyone to do what they want...they way they want.

Obviously, do whatever turns you on, but do not whine when 'doing your own thing' paying no heed to the overall strategic dynamic of the arena is thwarted because another team is working efficiently in concert for common objectives. Indirectly you are the cause of your own dissatisfaction, plain and simple...
Whine? Is that the total scope of your thinking, if someone doesn't like the same things you do they're whining? Look way back towards the start of this thread. Someone wondered why the Knits don't organize and capture the arena. I simply explained why. Since you're not a Knit. there was no need for you to chime in.
As far as not liking when the arena is ruined by your land grabbing, few do. It's inconsiderate and obnoxious to intentionally ruin the game for others. HTC should change it so reset happens when someone captures 50% of the arena. Then the rest of us can enjoy the game right up to the end. How about if the Knits simply say, "ok, we give", and you get the reset? We'll gladly give up every night just to make you happy and keep the arena open to enjoy. Until then, go pork a shed.

How this is not as obvious as a dog's balls to everyone is beyond my comprehension.
don't confuse situational advantage with technical ability. One is far easier to neutralize than the other.

LOL, I didn't think it was possible, but by God your ego is starting to ooz out of my moniter's menu buttons..
It's in danger of staining my desk !!
Tell me, how often do you wash your car ?? Do you wash it every Saturday at 10 o'clock sharp ??
I imagine most conversations you take part in sooner or later come back to you, and the head that dwarfs the neck.
Be careful, I'll find out where you live and move in next door :)
And yes I can afford it.

Could you afford to move me next to you two? :D

Sure WT that'd be great !!
My only concern is the location of his house. Dependent on it's location with our close proximity to it, day to day comings and goings may become a problem due to the size of the "head"..
I'll get the necessary information on width of streets. It would be a shame to move in and find you can't get your car out of the garage because of a HUGE ear or something..
Email me.

NB, don't climb.
You'll usually find some like minded low flying folks and start having a good fight or two away from the hordes.
The high-altitude-brain-damaged guys (as we used to call SR drivers ;) ) will come down and try to cherry pick you while you're busily engaged with a few others.
Dang, Toad! Are you telling me TAS used to be brain damaged? :)

its deliberate.
field icons based on spawn points and i deleted the spawns that would send you taking off into a side of a big hill.
i adjusted the number of strat targets at that field to be same number as a medium field as well.
