Carrier Ops is part of the game AH as advertised. Denial of Carrier Ops is not as advertised. Since the release of 1.05, a couple of "sides" have been denied the use of CV's on a regular basis for extended periods of time. This is like paying full price for "part" of the GAME! I would like to see a fix. I am not trying to point fingers or name names. I am not trying to compare the Japanese of late 45 to Aces High.
Now just to clarify...I am not trying to compare this issue with WWII, or any other war. None of us are going to die, EVEN if Aces High goes broke and fades into history. My point is, everyone should have the use of CV's at least most of the time. Sure...kill'em all and then reset shortly thereafter or something to that effect. Unfortunately, there are those in the G A M E that drool over knowing they have denied one SIDE OR THE OTHER the benefit of using CV's. This was evident earlier today (yesterday for you smartasses) when the Rooks were beat back to 2 bases with no CV and the attack was completely withdrawn from both sides (and yes..again for you smartasses..there were a "few" Bish/Nits over Rookland).
Now one more time...the point is that EXTENDED DENIAL OF CV's FOR ANY PLAYER IN THE GAME IS NOT RIGHT!

Lets not talk players logging in disgust, not having fun getting vulced continously by second rate chog drivers.

"Rooks were beat back to 2 bases with no CV and the attack was completely withdrawn from both sides "
This is what pisses me off , and our squad ! You got the other side on the ropes then don't finish them off ??? I think it sucks a big one . I know when they do it to us it sucks a big one too . HEY we play to reset the game . Some don't , but we or most of our team does .
SwampRat , u sure got a right to be pissed off IMO . Not that you didn't have a carrier but that they didn't force the reset IMO .
Enough said ,

With this version, carrier battle groups seem to take 17-25 players gunning, driving pt's, and launching air attacks. The trick is if you throw both cv's into the battle and only have about 40 people online your going to loose one or both cv's and their associated ports, where the other cv is best used for steaming behind friendly lines and performing an attack when the other cv is repositioning. However, someone invariably grabs the idle cv and steams it right at the enemy only to get sunk and siphon off crew for a lost cause.
Bottom line is unless you have large numbers, you will be much better off keeping one cv out of action so the other can fight effectively. Your going to have to convince your own side to use them correctly.

Hey Rooks, breed faster.
HTC, 2 Countries please?
This is basically a "we are getting gangbanged" problem disguised as a "we are being intentionally denied carriers" problem.
There is absolutely no proof that one of the arena resets happened recently due to the fact that Rook tears shorted out the HTC server.
This is soooooooo typical. "We are the downtrodden so therfore WE MUST HAVE SPECIAL CONSIDERATION."
Got Carriers, hang on to 'em, got no carriers, go get one.

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?
-
There is one gameplay issue which I think should be looked at, but not for his reason. However it would help solve the ease with which carriers can be taken out.
We should not be able to see ALL carriers from the map room. That's over the top IMHO. Carriers are easy to sink, and currently we don't even have to scout for them. I think it would be fine if we could only see our own carriers in the map room. If you want to take an enemy CV then, you have to find it first using scouting and communication.

Other than the obvious (we're getting GB'd again whine..)
I think we should do away with the "Enemy Bars" in the sectors where we have no bases, or resources. Once an enemy enters the sector where we "DO" have a base or resource, then yes a bar could come up.
As it currently stands, every one can see exactly where the enemy is staging from, for any attack, especially obvious from CV's. It also makes it so that any carrier group can be found without wasting of ANY resources for scouting.
1st. It would allow sneak attacks
2nd. It would enable true strategic and tactical operations.
3rd. It would enable the real NEED for scouting missions.
4th. I might not die as often as I am.
though I do agree that the southern right corner has a major tactical problem with the base setup currently. (perhaps a third "P" base in the back areas would alleviate the "lack of CV" problem
-
what used to piss me of was that many times we would be beaten back to 1 friggin base and then just to be amazinhunks or whatever everyone would just cap the base keep the hangars down but not capture it, in other words just for cruelness sake purposly keep every player on that team from playing, why are there 3 teams any way?
-
Yesterday sucked, and I wonder how long a newbie would stay with the vulching of the only bases of operation the Rooks had available. I didnt get to play because I don't really like being vulched by 12+ NME.
The effect this has is simple, many get annoyed and switch to another team, then the beaten back team gets even weaker, and the next day it happens more easily again.
Eventually, we are going to have an even more unballanced teams than we do now. If you think 45% Bish 35% Knit and 20% Rook is bad....wait till its 55/40/5
Its been heading that way for a while, and its not like defaulting new players to the less played team will help, it just means more easy kills/points for the other teams, and more frustration (less subscribtions) for the persecuted.
I hope it wasnt squad night for any Rooks last night, cause it would have pissed me off enough to cancel my account if I only got to play 1 night a week, and that night was last night.
I dont know if theres a fix besides getting the morons to stop being morons....but I really wish I could have played yesterday.

I agree, why 3 teams. Two seems fine to me. The problem I see with 3 teams is this. You get say 50 people on each team. If two teams jump on 1 (and it does happen on here on purpose or not) you've got 100 vs 50. Not fun odds for the team with 50. That's just an example. It's almost never TOTALLY 2 vs 1. But you get the point. If there were just two teams the odds of a totally lopsided battle would reduce. I've been in a position the last several weeks to play this game WAY more than I should. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I've noticed the three teams can be very time zone dependant. One team at a given time during the day (on a regular bases) can be very dominant do to numbers at a time when the other side/sides has few people on line. I haven't been sitting and logging numbers and times but it appears that way. I will play at times from 4am to 9pm so I get to see a lot of people come and go. (Unemployment can lead to obsessive behavior. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) LOL.) I think with just two teams the time zone thing would be reduced. On the CV's. I'll say this, we got to many admiral wannabe's on here that will throw a CV into the middle of the crap with 3 people to defend it. They are out there to do bombardment (I guess) and don't think about the fact that they will waste the CV. With the option of anyone being able to grab a CV and do what they want with it I think we are stuck. I think a few more ports might be nice. If nothing else but to launch PT's. Maybe (like in AW) a set of uncapturable bases might be of help. At any rate I've seen all three sides down to a couple of bases. I think maybe that if it's your side you tend to think your getting picked on. The next day you've got the other guy against the ropes and he gripes that he's getting picked on. I do think that two teams might help this. AH has probably done some thinking on this I bet. Maybe I'm wrong and that's why they did three teams. AW did it to so... As it stands I like the game over all. I wouldn't be paying for it if I didn't. It will NEVER be perfect! What is!

Lets not digress too far ,=)
The problem we have seen now is the big offensive (and defensive for that matter..) power of cv's, combined with a lack of moral ie lack of will to reset.
The latter has existed all the time I can rember >shrug< more or less - at the time: more.It has nothing to do with 2, 3 or 4 countries, just take a look at WB.Nothing to do really, except taking a personal stand when you are in the arena.
The great power of the cv's is a gaming matter and as such subject to changes from HTC.Im confident they will listen if we can be constructive - has happend before ;=)
Should we have more ports?Should reset be connected to "out of port and no cv" status?More ideas?

Forget two sides guys, it does not work. You think we have troubles now with one team getting sacked on a given day ? What if there are two sides and one of those sides has double the numbers ? Who going to whine then? The side with the less numbers of course. Who's going to "be in the bucket" as KBman says 24 hours / 7 days a week? The side with the less numbers. As it stands now each team gets to spend there time getting whooped on. Last few days it's been the Rooks, this week it might be the Bishops, next week the knights. 3 sides my not seem all that great to some of you, but 2 sides would be infinitly worse for the team with the less guys.
Good luck
-
Just my take...
One team gets slapped down hard, they are badly outnumbered (quite a few of their players either logged in disgust or joined the other team), and yet the push is not made for the reset... WHY?
Well, one reason I think maybe that some members of the other team, get this conscience(sp?) thing, and find no sport in it so go fight the other team. I am guilty of this myself, but now when I look at it.. IMO its better for the sim, and the arena to go for the reset. The players who have logged in disgust will come back, the teams may become better balanced, the RAMmeter will not be off the scale, and the game will go on etc etc.
For the team thats down, its quite an achievement to come back from the odds, but it doesn't happen very quickly.
I say puttem outta their misery!
The game will thank ya for it

Wasn't something about getting additional points/perk points added for "winning" the war and causing the reset (for pilots in that country for the previous 24hrs)? As an incentive to prevent this 'hold a country down to 2 bases and vulch' mentality? Or is that something planned (can't remember atm, and dinnae feel like looking (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) )
If it's in, it's not working. Course the 'leaders' in the bish and nits figger they can rack up thier points faster by just vulching us whenever we try to take off.
danish the offensive power of the taskgroups is not that great. They move at ~40mph, means they'll transit roughly 1.5 map sectors in an hour. That's too slow to actually be useful to a fast paced offensive.
The guns are next to worthless for shore bombardment unless you park the fleet immediately offshore, and that puts you in range of panzers and ostdweebs (watched an ostdweeb sink a flattop in <2min).
Last 3-4 days haven't been verra flyable if you're a rook
-
perhaps we could have one of each countries ports as uncapturable? This way you will always be able to use one carrier.
As for gangbanging it happens to every team at some point and i must admit it drives me crazy when you have a choice of bases to fly from and both are capped.
I think maybe once perk points are able to be used for more powerfull weapons maybe we could introduce a modifier that increases perks earned for those countries with fewer bases. This would encourage attacking countries to finish off the enemy rather than give them loads of perk points which they can use to defend with superior weapons.
However i just thought this may delay the final reset by making it even more difficult to accomplish. Its a tricky one isnt it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Simple solution.
1. Go to 2 sided map.
2. Set a random minimum field number to force reset. This can rotate between 2 to 5 fields. When one side gets down to the random number of fields the arena resets. No side has an idea what the number will be. It could be 5 or it could be 1. The number is random so no side can purposely set a target number of fields to take.

Caveman:
You may be right: the cv's as such isnt that terrifying. Is the combination of cv's, numbers of players that may be way off, and the resulting chog steamroller 10k yards off the coast
Disclamer: this isnt a chog slam, people simply choose the chog first (allthoug to my joy I did get killed noumerus times be the D version :=)
One port that is not subject to capture - but perhaps sensitive to damage ie more damage more time for cv to resurface - might indeed give the wipped country a hope.

How are 2 sides not going to work? WHy cant we have some team equalizer thing? In the next months, I will rarely get to play this game. I don't wanna log on for squad nite only to see my country has 20, other country has 30, and the biggest country has 150 people. Jesus. THere shouldn't have to be "1 team in the bucket" teams should be fair, and the country with the best skills/organization should be winning, not the one with the most vulchers.

IMO making one port uncapturable would solve the problem. Thats pretty much what I've been trying to say

Hey SwampRat, THANKS!
Having failed to miss the point, I actually must have grasped it, something I seldom do.
And next time ya get pissed, count to ten and then type.
I am a bit disappointed with the "twit" rating though, I was goin' for "son of a squeak."
HTC, get busy on this, we want correct numbers in each country before the next squad night too, dammit!

OK SwampRat, but I am hoping for at least "dumb twit" on this one.
I sometimes, without telling anyone, respond to more than one poster in a thread without actually pointing that fact out, I figure those who read the whole thread will make the connection....or not.
