For the last 4 days, it was possible for all 3 countries to fight in the A1, A4, and A5 area of the Beta Map. Until this morning.
Great time to learn any new twists in FM and Gunnery. Check out the skins on your opponents aircraft while fighting etc.
Great fights too! Knits, Rooks and Bish battling it out in the above area....until some moron decided to capture A1 for the Rook side. There were 51 of us in there last night.
As it stands now....the 3 sided fight has become 2. I know it's Beta and you can change sides. I have several times. Flew knit, Rook and Bish....but this really puts a damper on the fun.
Can't we just leave the base capture alone for a short while?
The MA mentality unfortunately has permeated the Beta Arena.
Hey...it's your money I understand that, give it a break for a few days willya?
Looking at the map....only ones that are taking bases are Rook and Knit...I know you have to practice....but please take the bases that aren't being used if you want to see how capturing will work out in the new AH2...let the players at least have some fun for a shortwhile anyway before Lemming Season comes in.

lol, Hajo last night around 8pmest bish owned all of the middle island except 43 and they was going for it , rooks and bish had A4 porked to death and if you wanted a 1/2 descent fight you had to up A50 or A9 and fly to A4/A5 area and bish were vulching cherry picking everything at A4 trying to take it, I guess what goes around comes around just different times of the day ya know. Be nice if they would stop, but I guess the base capture and stuff needs to be tested also.

TC.....my post was aimed at all. Doesn't specify which country is the culprit. Just stated facts on bases owned this AM on the Map.
Main Island had 3 airfields Bish, Rook and Knit from inception until this AM.
A1 was only base Bish had on Island...and that would be ok. A1 being still involved with 4 and 5 area. Fighting started with this Map on main island only......then base captures moved fighting from A1, A4 and A5....which allowed a central area for all 3 to fight.
Hell....no problem with giving up bases on Main Islands of countries as far as I'm concerned.....just leave a place where all 3 countries can fight. I don't giv-a-dam if any takes HQs'. Or bombs them off the map! Plenty of undefended bases to go around for all, Take them with most peoples blessing...but this is Beta, people checking out as I said in above post many things involved with AH2. There is no scoring...which is unimportant to me, but might be to someone else.
There are times when this would probably not concern me in the least.....like in the MA as it is now. Just blow it off as part of the game. However this IS a Beta testing Arena...and an opportunity
for some of us to fight....that we don't regularly have. I rarely see Straffo and Urchin on...Curval too! But I've gotten the opportunity to tangle with them in the Beta...and it's been fun.
Conversely from the above......where I stated that in the MA I would just and say that's the game as it is....In this rare instance I'm feeling I wouldn't mind if it went back to 30$/month.
Unfortunately there's always one ******* at the party with his head buried in the Punch Bowl.......give people a chance in the Beta anyway to experience the new additions to AH2 FM, Graphics, etc. before making it a two sided fight....let's try to keep everyone involved.

I agree with Hajo , part of the fun was to have the old AH1 beta behaviour with fight ,fight and fight and less hordes.
Having a new stick since less than 1 week I'm really back to AH1 beta when I was a complete newbie ...
I should have the same K/D also :D hopefully stat are disabled for now ...

A few of us Rooks snuck back to Furball isle and Took back 3 bases last night ... :p
Its sorta like the early days of ah1 in there (us rooks are out numbered again and we're kicking tail )

I know Hajo, I seen all countries trying to play land grab in AH2 beta, it is plain ole stupid I think, but heck, I get yelled at by certian people on my own country in the MA when I am looking for a good fight and they want to land grab.
I too want to test out what the improved flight model does and how gunnery has changed etc... Hey Hajo. W'ere all doing well. They continue to take advantage of most of my free time :) (which is why wasting any extra I have on MA gamplay is so unappealing). I hope you and yours are well!
If I manage to make it online I'll look for you. Would be fun to try it out before it's ruined.

?My Post was not a whine....more like a plea for some sensibility while Beta Testing.
When AH2 comes to fruition....the hordes will come with it.
As a matter of fact....if you read my Post I don't think the word Horde came up......or even insinuated.
It is just my wish to keep all sides involved in flying fighters. That's probably the chief reason any of us are here. Combat.
I realize Jabo runs and troop drops have to be practised. I believe I also stated that fact in my above posts. Maybe hooked on phonics would improve the reading comprehension in some cases. In any case unused and undefended bases free for the taking. Many of them......and a good way to practice.
If not...read my posts carefully....one word or one letter at a time until you get the "gist" of the idea. There was no finger pointing of individuals or countries.....just putting forward the idea that air to air combat is what makes this game, and that those new to AH2 would be allowed to experience the 3 sided hectic, ACM, SA experience while enjoying the nuances of AH2.

If I fly in the Beta arena, I'm flying bombers, like it or not! I don't fly fighters, and don't intend to there either. :p

Very rarely..... usually its a bomber formation or a GV, occasionally a field/ship gun. ;)

Yea, there were some great fights going on until the base capture thing took over. Guys who were winging together and using teamwork would stand up against 2-3 times their numbers in opponents while racking up kill after kill. It was amazing and a lot of fun. Then a CV wandered by and the heavy AAA scattered everyone so they couldn't fight, then one base or another was captured and suddenly there was no fight at all except with the AAA.

As an official member of the Intardnet whine society, I have reviewed your posts and found the two passages above which qualify the posts as whines. Unfortunately, the posts lacked CAPS LOCK, incoherent ranting, and threats of quitting, so although they were whines, they scored low on the RAM scale.

I think you meant permeated.
I agree with the others who said that the base capture stuff needs to be tested also.
One thing that Hajo's observation has confirmed is that the AH2 gameplay is going to be the same old, same old. One consolation is that some of the old gamey tricks are not going to work.

Beetle edited my post , permeated was what i was looking for.
Also stated that taking bases was no problem with me. Read the
Posts. Just asking that some bases being used are let alone so
that others can experience nuances to AH2 in air to air combat.
Lots of bases to be taken......90% of them undefended and a great location to practice base capturing. Take all the home Islands....don't think many will care.

I'm reasonably certain that once the Beta goes live, it will be absolutely, completely permeated by the MA mentality. Since it will be the MA and all.
Ya never know, though. Ole HT is a clever guy with clever accomplices. After the graphics and FM overhauls, gameplay might be next on the list.

I agree with Hajo on this one.
I've betatested the whole capture thing too, I even called on all channel and got people to switch side to help me, and we did NOT capture a base important to the fight. Betatest away folks! But it is possible to be smart about it.
What I've seen in the beta arena is "betatesting" of the whole gang and capture routine we've gotten so used to in the MA. Guess what? it still works.

My only problem with getting kicked off the main island today is that the town was up when it happened--but that's what the beta's for.

Today a certain group of lemmings *cough* 9typh *cough* after knocking out dar for rooks and empty knights, then proceeded to milk the empty knight country. Seriously there is no score as its beta. 2) only 8 guys in there so noone sees their UBAH lemming skills. 3 I mean the AI in Airfix Dogfighter must be too hard on them if they have to milk an empty country with no possibilty of opposition.

What's wrong with testing if hitting HQ works, or testing bombing? As for the MA 'invading' the Beta Arena, well excuse me! In just a few days, I suspect, the current Beta Arena will be the MA! :p

I know this goes against the grain of the thread, But has any one reset this arena yet? Perhaps that needs doing as well?
Right now, it seems HTC is also encouraging everyone to try the Beta so they can see how it runs on lots of different machines, also to aid the transition.
To me this means we need some large furballs as well to see how it affects things.
Iv only had a few sorties in the Beta arena, but it all looks good to me.

No problems shutting down HQ's with me.
No problems jabo or bombing bases with me, nor taking them.
Most people in this game...well over 90% I dare say are here for air to air combat...very few just Bomb, or just Jabo.
Just asking to leave at least one base alone that is being used for 3 sided fights.....so that all 3 countries coud mix it up air to air.
Why is it that reading comprehension skills are poor here?
That should leave 3 HQs. and at least 80 bases as well as factories and facilities free for bombing , straffing, and capturing.
Not much to ask.

Capture and field/strat attrition needs beta attention too...........
Infact currently there are bugs in that area that need addressing and testing................
This request is really the old "fighter town wish" moved to another arena.............there is (nearly) always a 3 way point some where on the map.

When AH1 was in beta, HT asked me and a few others to fly goonies so that he could see if the FM and arena settings were working; we did it, and it helped him tweak that aspect of the game before it went live. I am not clear about why all aspects of AH2 shouldn't be used while it is in beta right now?
It seems to me the old MA versus CA arguments are starting to permeate the beta arena.

Like Hajo is adequately, but not successfully, trying to get across:
Test EVERY aspect of the game, by all means, really. Gooning strating, porking and whatnot.
But why does porking and capturing have to happen where people are dogfighting? That center island is a good place where all three countries can fight eachother, why interfere with that? When we have more people in the arena this won't be issue, but now with about 50 people in it helps that all 3 countries have fields close to eachother.
We're just asking that some aspects of the testing be done in other areas of the map.
We're not opposed to base capture.
It's a simple request that the center island can be a place for all countries to meet.

Yes, rejection can be very hard to handle.
The people that pork and capture the bases on the center island in AH2 doesn't really do it for noble betatesting reasons, they just do what they normally do in the MA. Hence the title of this thread. Ah well, I guess it is important to betatest winning the war.
I pulled a CV up to an enemy field, didn't touch the strat, didn't shell the town or in any way try to capture their base and waited for people to up hoping for fights. A perfect setup with close access to the fight for both sides.
They did up.
Only to, over several attempts, sink the CV group. They completely ignored me and one other guy trying to fight. We were completely outnumbered and all they did was to sink the CV.
In the MA I find this to be of meaning, I do participate in the capture game in the MA. Why should the AH2 arena become the MA before it really is?
They even bore right by me strafing the ships until they were killed by the ack! That is not even common in the MA! "Ah... no score or stats. That means I can have fun strafing the CV without penalty..." sheesh
Ofcourse this is a whine!
