Title: Video settings question
Post by: Nwbie on May 18, 2004, 10:43:45 AM
Ok here is my lack of video knowledge rearing its ugly face

Under video settings there are several check boxes for like terrain mip mapping and such...
As being totally ignorant as to what to leave checked or unchecked, anyone have a recomendation as to what leave checked or unchecked?
Getting lots of screen freezes, but I understand that may be to the terrain and plane shape caching issues, so I won't complain yet,

I have bump mapping turned off (not selected), terrain mip mapping, transitions and horizon I have turned on (selected). I'm running an athlon 1600xp at ~1.4GHz with 256MB onboard ram, an Nvidia Geforce 4, MX440 with 64MB onboard ram and running at 1024x768x32 screen resolution.
I'm getting frame rates in the high twenties on the runway, and up to as high as 60 fps in the air. Even in furballs I've never seen my frame rates drop below 25.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
