Title: One cause of stutters (B33)

On my system it appears that the stutters are caused by the text buffer.    I noticed a lot of stutters while everyone was chatting it up, so I squelched channel 1 and sure enough the stutters went away.  Also, typing in the text buffer really causes a lot of stutters.  Every letter causes a stutter.
