Just looked, both are 1024 x 1024 but AH2 uses more bmp's...
with some clever copy/pasting/resizing i wonder if its possible? :D
of course you would have to get the permission from the original skinner, silly me!

fb skins are 1024 but are crammed on to 1 bmp. The individual parts are at a lower resolution then the AH2 parts. By the time you cut, paste, stretch, etc to fit the ah2 bmps they wont look good at all.
However there are hi quality line/rivet templates that one can use as a guide to making templates for AH2.
But any quality 3-view drawing would do better....

Yup.
I've dabbles in such attempts for sometime Furball, but the conclusion I got was, by the time one stretches, bends, cuts, pastes, cleans out the FB/AEP skins to AH2 standards, it gets so ugly that building a new skin from scratch is actually less work involved - besides, it looks better, too.
The VOID.BMP files are helpful references for placing rivets and panel lines, and some general detail prior to actual skinning, though.

best bet is to start drawing.......
you'll find more enjoyment in doing something yourself than ripping someone elses work off for speed issues.

ah skins are higher resolution than il2FB skins.
its best to draw the skin yourself.
the IL2 community encourages sharing and most over there are quite pleased when others are able to use their work to create more variations.
there are some good things like photos on some textures for engines etc that could be quite useful for radial engine planes.
gibbage one of the modellers and skinners over there took a photo headon of a real wasp radial engine that is used quite often in several skins and looks great.
stuff like that could be useful.
but for overall accuracy in actual panel lines il2 skins are not exact matches of the real things and also their rivets would look like huge tank bolts if you saw them the size they are on a real plane. they are overexadgerated due to pixel size of the 1024 skins in that game.
so I will say it again. find real plans of the plane your modelling and pictures and draw the skin from those.
ah2 uses 2 1024 skins on its planes and also often uses mirroring so in actuallity ah2 skins are huge compared to il2fb.

I believe oct transfered a il2 p40 skin to ah2 and it is really nice...it probably can be done on SOME planes, but like cit and kweassa said you'll probably be better off making it yourself.
P.S...not 100% it was an il2 skin, kinda looked like it..you can find it at ah-skins.com.

it was an il2 skin
-
btw I'm not sure if HTC will accept IL2 skins modified though.
it might have to be completely origional or using AH player made templates.
-
did he draw it for il2?
-
No, sorry I ripped it off :p
But I do plan on 'redoing' my own way from scratch once finals are overwith :)
