Title: New toy at work
Post by: VOR on May 20, 2004, 10:29:34 AM
This thing is leaps and bounds ahead of the AN/TPN 71B  system we have used since the 50's, and long overdue!

Will be running our first radar approaches with it today!

I see only one dish and it looks like it's the ASR. Though there does appear to be a separate feedhorn in front, hard to tell from the small pic. Will this system provide both ASR and PAR simultaneously?

Yes, simultaneous ASR and PAR. The PAR antenna is actually the large backwards L-shaped thingy on the back of the sensor vehicle. The IFF antenna is the small one on top of the ASR.
