Title: gunsight is solid black

I am trying to play on a old laptop - compaq armada E500
with a p3 (700mhz?) 64 mb ram and an ATI rage mobility chip with 8mb ram

I have the latest drivers and I am not using a custom gunsight. Just loaded a new download of aces high on this pc.

On starting the game the cursor appears with a black box of about its size and the gunsights in the planes appear solid black.

Hope some one has a solution for me! For the first time I have the required bandwith and I am hoping to be able to play wihtought buying a new system!!

Or you haven't installed the gunsight properly Or you should get more Mb ram :)

Bad news my friend, that system is under the old specs of AH1, and with the release of AH2 (which will end AH1) due out very soon your in trouble.

The black box is due to having no "alpha" to get the transparency, and the video card you have may not support it . Sorry to say its time to upgrade, in big leaps and bounds  :(

Aces High is an expensive game to play...though they are investments you just need to get over it someday, spend some money, have fun for undetermined time :aok

Same with me, I had to get a rather expensive joystick with a throttle lever, else I wouldn't be able to play so good :lol

You don't necessarely need a new computer, I think a new video card will do too.

Its a laptop actuallly. Not sure if I can get the video card changed?
I guess it will be another year or so before I get to play. On the bright side, I guess ah2 will be up by then :)
