Title: Initialization failed with-3 mainGR3D_FAILED-4 = Re-install DirectX 9B = SUCCESS!!!

IF ERROR (Initialization failed with-3 mainGR3D_FAILED-4)

Re-install DirectX 9B + Reboot (of course)

= SUCCESS !!!

Well Dingbat,..generally speaking, if you get the error you got and reinstalling DX9 corrected it, it would be more due to a corrupt installation from before.
Typically, it is not unusual to have to re-install a video card driver after updating DirectX, but the other way around is a mark of some registry problem.

but given the number of people reporting the error, wouldn't making this a sticky cut down on the number of reposts?

Most of the people having that error also have a video card that will not work in Aces High II.

It is a good thought, and I will keep it in the tech support toolbox for sure.

I was getting that ERROR message.  Got my DX9 files all fixed and in order, but was still getting that error message.    I right clicked on AH2 icon, selected properties, and clicked the last TAB.  In here it has a option to run this program in 256 color.  It was checked.  Dont know why it was checked, I had just downloaded AH2 patch 40 the night before.  I unchecked it and now it works.
