Loaded AHII last night and it looks great. But I can't hear anything on vox.People hear me just fine, but I can't hear them. All other sounds in game are fine.
Vox works fine in AHI though.
Using a Soundblaster Audigy LS soundcard.
I have all the latest video,sound,dx9 drivers.Although the latest driver for the Audigy LS is vers.5.121.21, and signed 7-3-2003.This seemed fairly old to me,but the Creative site says this is the latest?
Anyone else having problems with an Audigy card, or have other drivers to use?

Firewall?
-
Can you record with windows audio recorder and hear yourself?
Are you using any sound enhancements or sound effects?
-
Thanks Thawky. I am running all CH USB stuff also.
Zanth, no firewall running while in A/H. Works just fine in AH I.
Lucull, no enhancements or sound effects. Sound recorder/playback in windows works just fine. Again no problems in AH I.
All the latest drivers. Have tried reinstalling DX9,AH II, sound card, ect.
Thanks for the input folks. Any other ideas? :D

When I play offline I can enter "Server" in the radiobox for voice, and all is well. It seems to only happen online. It works in AH 1 but not 2. Does AH2 Require tweaks to the Windows Xp firewall or are the settings the same as AH1?
Thawk
-
Thawk it works fine offline for me also.
As for the tweaks to XP firewall, I have no idea.
I suspect it is a problem with AH II. Perhaps when HTC has time we will get some feedback.
If you find anything else please post it, and I will do the same. Until then we will just have to live with it. :D
Cheers

Heard something about sound blaster audigys....and MOBOs that have VIA chipsets.
Pipz has an Audigy and a mobo with via chipsets. Creative Tech said that the audigy has issues with via mobo chipsets.
If you haven't upgraded your via 4 in 1 drivers...try that.
Pipz did...and the audigy still doesn't work.
-
Thanks for the info. Hajo.
Is he having the same type of problems we are?
Works fine in AH I.
Works offline in AH II, and in windows test mode.
Others can hear me in AH II online, but I can hear no voice at all while in AH II online.
I can hear all game sounds just fine.

Frodo,
I would concur on the VIA Hyperion driver update if you have not done so. The drivers use to be called '4-in-1' drivers but no longer.
I use the Audigy Gamer card but with the slightly newer nVidia2 board and (as you are aware 'ol squadie of mine!) am having zero problems with vox (other than the AH2 server dropping vox for everyone).
Here is the link: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300
Good luck and I'll look for you online.

Thanks for the info. Hwkeye. I will check it out.

I Have A Nforce2 Chipset and have the same Problem
-
I have the via kt266/a chip set. Thawky has a different chip set.Pipz had no luck with the driver update.
Dumb question maybe. But updating the VIA driver wouldn't seem to matter? Since everything works in all applications, except AH II Online.(even works in AH II Offline)
Hope HTC can give us an opinion on this problem soon.

Frodo.
Updating chipsets is important.
As new software and Dx versions come out, and graphics accelerators....the chipsets need to be upgraded to handle the new instructions.
For instance...when I purchased my 9800 Pro...ATI included instructions that Via drivers need to be upgraded or the 9800Pro would not work.....result black screen of death.
You have an older version of the Via chipset.....dload and install the Hyperion Drivers from Via....think you'll find it will help.
-
Thanks for the info. guys. I updated to the Hyperion drivers, and I get the same result. Still will not work in AH II Online.
Thawky has Nforce2 chipset, and same problem. Pipz updated and has same result as me.
From all the info. in this thread, it still seems like an AH II bug?
Can't get a reply from HTC, so who knows?:(

Uninstalled my audigy soundcard and tried the onboard one on my MB. Same problem . Works in AH1 and AH2 offline not online Though. Tried turning off the firewall and still not working.
-
I have a Audigy Gamer and have noticed that it takes a few seconds after i first log in to hear any sounds. This is, as of patch 37 and 38. The sound just seem to take longer to load, but after the load np after that.
-
Thawky, I have tried some more tweaking of different things, and I still get the same result.
Maybe we will come across a fix, but it sure would be nice to get some feedback from HTC. Maybe after they release AH II we will get some feedback.

Hmmm...
I got the same problem and ALSO
when trying with keyboard to transmit-->
1. using channel radio with shift-F12 = locks the channel, you can see that the yellow light is on , wont shut down until you press the joystick key assigned to channel radio.
2. using F12 for range radio= you wont transmit at all, no purple highlight
Of course you have to have radio open to see that.
Might be somekind of joystick /USB combo prob
Using MSFF2 here.
HT, any luck?
-
Frodo, From every thing you describe, i.e. works ahI , and works in offline, plus other people can hear you. Leads to only 1 posibility somthing is blocking you from recieving the UDP packets, i.e. somthing with a fire wall setup.

Thanks for the info. HT. I just needed someone to point me in the right direction.:D
All I run at the moment is ZoneAlarm, and it is shut off when I play. My router went out a couple of weeks ago, and I will make sure nothing is left running/enabled from it.
I will go through everything, and see what I come up with.
Thanks

Hmm, managed to misread earlier posts.. thought your voice doesn't work at all.
I cannot transmit and never hear anything from anyone.
In AH1 works like a charm.
SQD mates also say that while it shows me transmitting on my comp, they cannot see me transmitting.
Check 6 calls go through, and shutting down the firewall doesn't help.
Also reinstallin whole system didn't help.
No help lowering acceleration either.
Have tried with multiple nvidia drivers (nforce2 soundstorm board, epox 8RDA+) and no luck so far.
Actually I have never gotten vox to work in AH2 while I tested it earlier also...
Beats me , hope it doesn't do the same to HTC....
-
Ok still have same problems. I uninstalled zone alarm, spybot, and ad-aware with no luck. WinMX is next, although I have never allowed file sharing.Guess I will try other drivers next also.
Thawky or Jarsci or anyone else have any luck?
Cheers
Frodo
-
Nope . but HTC not too worry. When they kill ah1 ,ah2 will use same ports as ah1. Then if vox works in ah1 it should work in ah2
Thawky
-
Thanks for the reply Thawky. Hope your right.:D
Frodo

I also have absolutely no vox in/out in AH2. I have tried re-installing, downloading all updated drivers, DirectX9.0b, etc. with no luck. No firewall when I play AH, also no AV. All settings are the same as for AH1, where my vox works great. I have sound on my MB (nVIDEA M7NCD, nFORCE2 chipset, with AC'97 sound on an ALC650 chip) I have tried everything I can think of, considering buying a new soundcard. Any ideas/recommendations? Oops, Thawky, just read your post saying HT says it will work later if it works in AH1 now. No idea what the port thing means, but I guess I don't need to.
-
Mtnman go offline in AH II, and enter "Server" in the radiobox for voice. Test it and see if you can hear your voice.
Just curious, as it works offline for Thawky, and myself also.
Cheers

Just tried it offline AH2, it works fine...

Heh, well, you don't need me to tell you this, but I would look for other data (accidentally) sent to the port 2000 range.
It has been my experience that when I find something which is impossible (works w/4000 range, but not 2000 range), I'm very close to finding the programming error.
