I was talking to a squadie about books the other day and he asked me for a recommendation for some business type books to read. These are two books that are a good read to learn about Wall street and about the bond market.
Liars Poker by Michael Lewis - it is about a bond trader in the early 80's
When Genius Failed: The rise and fall of Long term captial management - it is a great book on the one thing that truely makes markets tick, human emotion.

Some good stuff at

Nick Leeson wrote a book about his exploits that's worth reading. Can't recall the name of it though. I think it was "Rogue Trader". Some lessons to be learned from it regarding employee management and business auditing.

They made a film about the scandal? Must've missed it here in the US. I did buy a book by one of the Barings people who were involved in the investigation but I haven't read it yet.
