I don't get what the muscle car folk have against these guys. If I was an old Mustang or GTO guy, I'd tip my hat to the acceleration and horsepower that the Honda owners are getting. Instead, they come on here and call them 'ricers' and make derogatory comments and I have to wonder, do they feel threatened? Are they poor sports?

as a muscle car guy I have no problems with the guys that are fast.
The ones I despise are the little jokers in a 18 second honda civic, with a F-18 wing glued to their card and a fart can.
These guys, are a little down on my respect level cause ****ing around in traffic is stupid, that what race tracks are for, or deserted roads, if you insist on racing on the street.

At least they're spending their money on upgrade items that improve performance, instead of fancy paint and tinting. No rear wings either. These guys know how to do a FWD CRX.

I have a japanese car and make fun of the ricers. I agree with GTO. It's the guys who spend $10k on cosmetic stuff and still have a stock motor, but try to drag race people, they give the rest of us a bad name. Street racing is just plain stupid.
I think it may also depend on where you live. Out here where the whole hot rod culture (and ricer culture) was invented, there are a lot of people who do so some serious shade-tree engineering to build truly fast cars. In other parts of the country, you just have wannabees copying what they saw in Fast'N'Furious or some magazine. If these tards are all you see in your area, then it's understandable to make fun of them.
But there are still neanderthals like Chairboy describes, who have a nationalistic or even racist aversion to japanese cars, regardless of the fact that many of them have great engineering and performance.

Anyone seen the shocking vidoe of the intown idiot driving in Stockholm ? 200km going straight into downtown and into 5 redlight crosses, it was a pure luck that nobody got killed.

Hell if I were looking for a fast car right now I would buy a WRX STI in a second!
I work with a guy who put a turbo in his honda, no kit, he did every bit himself! Nutty!
But the car is pretty fast now.

I've done alot of riceburner stuff at work (even an 8 sec acura) but they just dont do it for me ...

(i got more pics but ive got to upload them ) its almost done now im down to the carbon fiber work on the wing .

It isnt just 'muscle car guys.'
Japanese sports car owners hate 'rice' just as much as everyone else.
Rice doesnt mean 'Japanese car.' Defining "rice" is an art form... you know it when you see it. ;)

I'll second that! I did come across a honest ricer once. I was running errands in my GTP when this "riced out" Honda pulls out of the local rice speed shop. I roll down the window and ask him if it's fast and he says, "no, I just added the stuff for looks".
American muscle is my bag. I grew up in the muscle car era. I've owned the following:
64' Nova 283 with mass mods. Hard to keep in a straight line(lol).
65' GTO conv., 4-speed, tri-power(paid $600 in 72')
65' Impala SS 409, 4-speed. Lots of torque and hp.

Ever seen an Acura NSX? I saw some idiot weld some crap on the trunk as well as all kinds of uber comptech crapola, and ruined the natural lines.
Not only can the NSX hang with anything on the street, its a beauty to look at, let alone drive :aok

Now thats a dragster! I laugh at the kids at the track who bring their bone stock hondas with an Autometer Monster Tach and shift light! Rock on! lol Running 13s! In the 1/8th! SwEET!
LOL our trucks that hauled up our cars could beat them! lol And have too :p

My brother is finishing up his 85 Corolla GTS (Same thing as in Initial-D only his is silver)
He has so far installed a fully programmable fuel injection system on it, and is on the last stages of installing a turbo on it. He made all the manifolds and such for it himself.
The car has had a lot of track miles on it, but with 2 young kids it doesn't see the track more than 1-2x a year now.
Its been lowered, adjustable shocks all the way around, some pretty cool rims I've never seen the likes of before, and the body is mint. (he an ex-bodyshop guy) oh and no 'ricer' stickons or fart tips to be seen.
You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer one. Currently there is a TV show trying to talk him into letting them give his car a 'makeover'... Only problem is.. he has no say in what they do to it...
He wants to mess with an echo next.... his reasoning... so many current toyotas share the same engine block. A 200hp echo... weeeeeeeeeeee...
