Plea:
AH Ki-61 has:
* Number of Fuel Tanks - 3
* Armament - Fuselage mounted Ho-5 20mm Cannons x 2, Wing mounted H103 12.7mm x 2
Please increase the number of fuel tanks to 4, and it would historically match the Ki-61-I "Tei".
As it is, our current Ki-61 seems to be a very strange hybrid of the Ki-61-I "Hei" and the "Tei".
Dug the sources from this old, excellent thread:
Petition to change the name of the Hien in AH (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47106)
I thought it my be plausible, as seeing the E6B isn't rendered yet for the Ki-61, and the AH2 is in the finishing stages.
-
yes please add the aft fuel tank...
Or put mg151's in the wings.... :)
-
Punt!
..
For promotional purposes for this request, I've decided to skin this plane for my next project :)

:aok
My hat's in too.
-
It would seem to be the time to make this change.
I'm not clear on exactly what the different tank capacities should be. Can one of you Hienphiles verify if this is accurate?
Wing tanks 2 x 190l
Bottom tank 1 x 170l
Fuselage Aux- 1 x 165l
-
Whoa, nice.
Thank you, Kweassa and Pyro :)
No idea on the tank sizes though :p
-
gonna call in Mitsu for this one... brb

While you're at, can you translate this for me? I'm really wondering what this is about.

I can't stop my chuckles...hehehe
You guys know we men got balls right? It has to be cooled!
Anyway, the cartoon is describing the relationship with the Ki-61 and the Ki-100. To give a brief background on what these planes are and how they were developed, Ki-61 has the liquid cooled engine Ha-40, I believe it was the licensed version of the DB601 engine used on the Bf109E. Ki-61 was also known as the Army Type 3 Fighter. When the war progressed, the Japanese mainland bombed, infrastructure was destroyed, and the production of engine parts for the Ki-61 was minimized. The production of the fuselage of the Ki-61 was progressing and the army, soon, found many Ki-61s with no engine! The army then found some supply of air-cooled engine Ha-112, and decided to adapt this engine into the fuselage of the Ki-61, thereby producing the Ki-100 or the Army Type 5 Fighter.
sooo, the translation...
"By placing the air-cooled engine onto the Ki-61, the Ki-100 became 330 kg lighter. This number can be considered as the weight cooling device or the thing that's hanging. The Ki-61 was a "poor" plane." "When running, it may bounce, but turning tight is difficult."
-
Mitsu responded, he will send me the specs. He asked if the name would change too? Oh yeah and the skin too needs correction, the paint scheme is that for the Ki-61-I Hei, and the word "Fumuna" (meaning No Step) is a mirror image of how we would write it.

I hope that HTC adds the Frank and the ToJo II , also . somewhere down the road......
Your Skins are great and neat additions to AH 2 .
CHECKERS

btw, Kweassa, thank you very much for remembering our request. :)
-
Lol, don't thank me. ;)
I dug up that thread while looking for some references to skin a new army airforce Ki-61.
Glad to see it's under revision now.
-
Come to think of it, anybody know other sorts of inaccuracies such as this? I think it's good timing to bring it up now.
The La-5FN fuel tanks were divided, the Ki-61 is into consideration, 190 fuel burn order and loadout was fixed etc etc..
-
HT was in AH2 today, told someone there was no need to make a new account as AH2 was "close" to puttin out AH1.
aka yea itd be very good time to get last min stuff in, AH2 is vvverrry close, within week or so id say. (note, HT didnt give any exact date, within week is just my guess.)
-
Well... Mitsu would be most happy if HTC would model the Ki-61-I-Tei and the Ki-61-1-Hei. :D
-
I'll hope to solve confusion about Ki-61 name...
and personally I don't want to HTC add the Ki-61-I-Tei (which has mauser cannon).
I think HTC should use resource for the Ki-100 rather than it.

According to my thread Info on the Ki-61 (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47692) and I found the old email from Mitsu and they are as follows:
For the Ki-61-I-Tei
Wing Tanks (one in each wing) : 170 liters x 2 = 340 liters
Bottom Tank (one between wings in the fuselage) : 160 liters x 1 = 160 liters
Aft Tank (one behind the cockpit): 95 liters x 1 = 95 liters
Total = 595 liters
Reference is mentioned in the thread.

Its about time the Ki-61 got a respectable paint job. The clown-tail was interesting, but it was a death-trap scheme.
Ki-100 would be interesting addition to the plane-set. J2M and Ki-44, too. And an Emily flying boat. :)
-
The name will change and we'll pick a different paintscheme when we update its skin to hi-res.
Mitsu, did you mean the Hei instead of Tei in that last sentence?
Fdutch, that was the other load I was wondering about as that's the same as the Ki-61-II.

Thanks! Danke! Muchas Gracias! Arigatougozaimasu! m(__)m I am deeply humbled...

He must have meant the Hei version, the Tei version is already there!

ahhh sure... ahh, I am looking into my documents now... Ki-61-II hmmm!

Yes, sorry this is my mistake.
I meant Ki-61-I-Hei in that sentence.
P.S.
Nihongo ha muzukasiidesu! (Japanese language is difficult!) j/k :D
-
hmmmm Pyro, what action should I take to help you?
scanning Ki-61-I-Tei's data or paint schemes?
-
Nihongo ha muzukashikanai... Nihonjin oyaji to densha obasan ga muzukashi desu... :)

Well... Mitsu tells me, Ki-61-1-Tei and the Ki-61-II both have the same specs for fuel tanks.

A little preview of the "Sword", 45% fin.
I'd appreciate if you or Mitsu has any more info on Mr. Fukunaga's particular Ki-61, FD.
The links you've provided have proved to be most useful when creating detailed base-templates. I'm looking for more information to be added in to the plane such as texts, info plates, warning signs and etc etc, if JP planes had them on.
Also, I'm looking for a good, plain view of the pilot gear for this particualr('44) timeline. Got any pics? :)
Thx in advance!
ps) The colors may look a bit awkward, but it's because the Ki-61 also has the "glaring wax coating' applied to planes such as P-51 or the P-38.
Also, very very unfortunately, the "Tsurugi" hiragana is also mirrored on the opposite fuselage, and I'm on the brink of making a decision whether it should be left out in the final version, or not. Any insights/opinions on this from JP fans would be much appreciated.
Again, a keen eye may notice the rudder marking sizes/placement is wrong - this, is because the Ki-61 has some SERIOUS! issues when it comes to how the textures are mapped on the rudder/VStab. Trust me on this one my Japanese friends, as it is, that, was my best and only option.

Sure. What do you have?
-
Pyro:
I have Japanese Ki-61/Ki-100 books and model art magazine...
At least I can scan Ki-61-I-Tei spec sheet and its paint scheme from them.
Kweassa:
I'm really glad you posted this thread and you are making Ki-61 skin (I love your plane skins!). I'll check it out, but as pyro said, Ki-61 would get hi-res skin soon. Don't you make skins after Ki-61 got it?
-
Depends, Mitsu.
I'm not sure that Pyro's saying they'll significantly modify the Ki-61 textures to the point that skins created prior to the change is useless. More likely, I'm guessing that this means the default texture of the Ki-61 will be literally made with higher resolution, and perhaps some texture issues solved with it - not necessarily it will be using a whiole new texture scheme.
At any rate, I'd appreciate it if you have any additional info on making a more detailed skin. ;)
-
Nice Kweassa:aok

I would realy like to see a Ki-61-IB aded to the game at some point, It is a better climber and would fit better for Events and the CT in The Earler war set up's. Personaly I would much rater see this than any Ki-100 in the short term.

Hmmm which brings me to another thought. Any chance of getting the KI61 II with its 4 20mm HO's in the future?
Ki-61-II (http://www.angelfire.com/fm/compass/K61.htm)
One 1,450 hp Kawasaki Ha-140 inverted-vee 12-cylinder (liquid-cooled)
Four x 20 mm Ho-5 cannon in wings
379 mph (610 km/hour)
2,200 feet (675 metres) per minute
:)
Or even better
Nakajima KI-84-Ib (http://www.angelfire.com/fm/compass/Hayate.htm)
One 1,900 hp Nakajima Homare Ha-45 Model 11 18-cylinder two-row radial
4 x 20mm Ho-5 cannon (2 in wings, 2 in fuselage) each with 150 rounds
Two racks under outer wings for bombs or fuel tanks up to 250 kg (550 lbs) each
388 mph (624 km/hour)
3.600 feet (1,100 metres) per minute
:aok

I agree... the Ki-84 Hayate should be added considering many things including the number produced when compared to other planes. the Ki-43 Hayabusa should be added also.
But the Ki-61-II is also nice to have... probably easier to add because the artwork takes less work than modelling from anew...?? possibly?? :)

My Short term Wishlist for Japanese planes is:
Judy
Ki-61-Ib
Ki-84
A6M3
The Short term list is inteneded to give the most bang for the buck and make it easer for HTC to do, hince the two varients, both of which would realy help in the CT and in events to adress playbalance issue so common to PAC set ups. The Judy fills the mid to late war atack/dive bomber nich nicely and it's abaility to cary a 500KG bomb for short flights will help again adress playbalance issues. The Ki-84 is simply a must for the MA and will defentaly help in late war PAC set ups for the CT and events.
............................
Long Term would add the :
Betty, Nell, or Ki-21 (any one would do)
Emily
.............................
Eveunatialy:
P1Y1
Ki-44
Grace
Jack
Ect....

Sorry, my scanner was broken...I trying to find pics from my old HDD. :(
Pyro, Thank you for updating Ki-61 name and fuel.
I'm really glad you didn't forget them!
BTW I'm trying to find this paint scheme now:
